It was our 7th year wedding anniversary, we wanted to try something different. It was a very lovely stay, something different from what we usually do. The tranquility is out of this world.

It was like camping of some sort. It’s a pity most places around the area were closed on weekends. So we didn’t get to do much. But it was a rest we needed from the busy city life.

Our 7th wedding anniversary

Amazing stay at the Rondawel. The check-in process was seamless. Everything you need is there. Just bring your clothes and food. The room was spotless, bedding and towels were like brand new. The outside private toilets and showers were immaculate. The river was a bit dry, but that did not deter us from lazing in the small rock pools. Wi Fi was excellent. We were fortunate enough to see an abundance of birdlife and wildlife. Thank you for a great week end. We will definitely be back.

The Rondawel

We stayed at The Cottage at River Siding for 4 nights this past week. Really beautiful, majestic setting between the mountains and alongside the river. The views are truly unbeatable. However, the accommodation is much more rustic than the various adverts let on. The kitchen-ware is in need of update, and the ablutions are outside (not a bad thing, but just to be aware). The place was fairly clean (lots of dog hair on the couch and the floor) but the bed itself was very comfy and the linen very clean and light on the skin as well (which was great as it was 31C most days). The place could do with a better cooling system as the two fans available make little difference in the heat. Lots of firewood was available for us to use, which was very generous. There was also an overflowing bowl of plums waiting for us on arrival, which was wonderful. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The farm is a working farm so it's not always quiet, but it is a really friendly and welcoming place. We would recommend it, but would suggest that the level of rustic-ness is made clearer on the adverts.

Fabulous stay in the Cottage River Siding 2. Well equipped and what a magnificent front of house view. Hectic loud wedding across the river on Saturday night at Olive Rock...but otherwise stunning. 
Would consider perhaps a braai in the front verandah as a later thought..only because the wind can blow. Otherwise a fantastic stay. Thank you for Sharing  your space. 

Weekend away

What a charming place The River Siding is. I took my grandchildren away for a winter weekend break in the hopes of finding some snow.
We arrived Friday afternoon to a friendly receptionist, who welcomed us to the farm.
Our accommodation was The Rondawel.
On entering we were welcomed to fresh home made bread smells and a clean fresh linen.
Our stay was awesome. Besides the Baboons coming to investigate on both mornings. The sounds of a gurgling river, to the birds chirping made our stay in nature so relaxing.
I highly recommend this little piece of heaven.
And we found snow on Sunday. So all had an amazing experience.

Winter weekend

We stayed in the Rondawel during April 2017. Family of 4.  Extremely private and remote. 10m from river.  Low river flow, which suited us perfectly for fishing and safety for kids.  Very neat and clean.  Will definitely go again

REAL Rondawel

Visited April 2018 and stayed in the log cabin. Lighting in main room appalling - fluorescent lights. We brought bedside lights in to kitchen and living room. Plunge pool a blowup plastic pool, came to my knees - you can get larger. Dam we were told to swim in was inaccessible - no jetty. They knew we were four single adults - did not tell us third tiny bedroom has bunk beds, not two single beds. When getting up in the night, I hit my head on the above bed as the space was so small. We had to put top bunk mattress on living room floor for fourth person. No focaccia or fruit for us! Otherwise pleasant with lots of braai wood.

Disappointed

We stayed in the rondawel from which you have a view of the river flowing by and a very short walk brings you to the river's edge. Your setting is absolutely stunning with towering mountain ranges all around you. 

An absolutely pristine private ablution is situated about 10 metres from the rondawel.  It would be useful to have a torch at night as the terrain along the  path is quite rugged. One drawback was the huge amount of noise made by farm machinery and the large vehicles as one is close to the entrance of the farm. Be aware that the wi-fi availability and cell reception are patchy. 

This is the ideal place for a great outdoor experience with a large fireplace outside as 
you are supplied with a copious amounts of wood for making plenty of fires.

A comfortable rustic experience

My husband and I ventured a weekend away, different to our usual sea side getaways. 
The Log Cabin is spacious, clean and fully equipped with all things needed. located on a working farm - Ou Stasie.  Megan was very helpful and accommodating from the time of making the booking until check in and departure. We were welcomed with fresh focaccia and fruit. The setting is tranquil and quiet and we had no disturbances during our stay. Our breakages deposit were returned promptly and items that stayed behind by mistake was returned to us with in 48 hours via courier. We will definitely be back.
