We had most wonderful relaxing time at the hotel. I enjoyed sitting outside and lighting up the fire. It's wonderful and peaceful place to be and it's like our other home. The owner and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Reflection time

I was touched when we arrived at the hotel and were ready for camping. Because of the rain, we were given self service hotel rooms. I want to say that the hospitality we have received in the hotel has been amazing. We have spent our days enjoying warmer accommodation than being cold in the tent. Thanks Farmers Lodge for your understanding. We have enjoyed our holidays.

Prepared for Camping but upgraded

The accommodation is set up as a log cabin. There is not internet, no television and no music. There's a total disconnect just to hear the birds and wildlife in the area. The rooms don't have the best bathrooms however a family member did have a room where the bathroom was revamped. The rooms are very old, with old furniture however staying at the hotel it wouldn't be advisable to spend alot of time in the rooms. The best part of the hotel I felt was the amazing staff who really did take care of us during the Covid period. Sandile, Keith and their staff especially the chefs, took great care of us. Separate areas to dine and no interaction with no other guests at the hotel. The chef was amazing with gourmet breakfasts and amazing 3 course dinners. The family felt extremely safe and free and enjoyed the time away. 

Excellent Service 

Very unwelcoming, with lots of signs saying" don't do that, can't do that." Owners barely visible, waitrons never topped up coffee and chief waitron didn't know difference between sweet/dry sparkling wine and couldn't open bottle herself.

Furnishings all rather tired, though nice big bedroom & comfy bed.

Dinner menu was very limited , tasteless chicken schnitzel & tasteless cheese sauce and sauceless sole.

Think the only redeeming features were the situation by the gorge for lovely walks and the EXCELLENT cafe nearby leopard cafe.

Thin walls!

Looks nice, not so good inside

The room was very uncomfortable - the mattress was hard with only a comforter, no sheet, the room was hot with only a ceiling fan, no a/c.  But the worst thing was the mosquitoes that came out at night and bit us all night long.  Could not use the cover since it was too hot and when uncovered got eaten.  The restaurant was poor with no fresh offerings.  The breakfast was ok.  No internet

Quaint and tired

We were staying at nearby self catering Oribi Gorge guest farm, and called here for lunch. Pleasant lunch in shaded outdoor area. Waitress Joan (?) exceptionally cheerful and attentive. (Turns out she's worked there for years and enjoys her job- it shows; they should give her
 a bonus!) We had steak pie. Filling excellent, pastry a bit soggy. Chips and side salad good. Better than average soft drink selection. Prices reasonable. Beware monkeys if you sit outside. Dirt road to get to hotel could do with better maintenance, but was passable in ordinary saloon car.

Pleasant lunch good service

We stayed overnight at the Oribi Gorge Hotel. The staff, food and atmosphere was fantastic. While the room was great, we could hear people walking above us which was very irritating as it was late at night.
The gorge itself was breathtaking although I was not brave enough to do the gorge swing. The suspension bridge was hair raising but a must to experience. A wonderful getaway.

Breathtaking views

We just returned from our 15 Day South African Tour with Amatungulu Tours. The Oribi Gorge Hotel was one of our nightly stop overs.  The Oribi Gorge is a must see on any trip through South Africa and the Oribi Gorge Hotel has a perfect location to tour the area as well as being on property that gives private access to an are of Gorge itself with some fantastic views and activity.   You can drive to the Gorge from the hotel and walk the swinging bridge or do something more adventurist such as buggy jumping or swinging off the ledge.

Location is Everything

We can't speak highly enough of Robin, the staff, amenities for our kids and our memorable time at Oribi Gorge Hotel. Robin and his family took over the hotel few months ago, and they are doing things right. We loved our visit! We were visited by baboons, peacocks, sheep and even a cute puppy. Food was delicious and atmosphere was relaxed. 2 outdoor playgrounds for kids, including the zip line are awesome. Staff were helpful whenever we asked. We loved our hike to Wild 5 adventures where we zip lined, walked the suspension bridge and took some most beautiful pictures of Oribi Gorge. And then we had some unexpected drama. My cousin left her car key in another place and had to use our car to get it back. We wanted to visit Lake Leland but now couldn't get there. Robin and their team to the rescue! They are amazing and went out of their way to give us a ride to and back from to Lake Leland. Wow. They treated us like family. We hope to return to South Africa soon and will definitely visit again.

Relaxing stay where animals roam free

Our family stayed over on Friday night 21 June 2019 at Oribi Gorge Hotel as a 'kick start' to our sea holiday. All the personnel working there were extremely friendly and helpful. The food were excellent, especially the dinner. The breakfast was also excellent. How we wish we could have stayed another night. It really is an awesome place and we will definitely be back - just to stay longer this time. It is a must to stay there if you want to visit the Oribi Gorge and all the trails and look out points. From the hotel it is walking distance to all the view points and trails. I can definitely recommend this gem of a place to all. Thanks very much Oribi Gorge Hotel Management and personnel.
