This is a beautiful location with a lovely communal lodge area and lovely but simple lodges to stay in.  You will have a fab welcome from Hannah and her team. 
You will love it here.  
Our guide was Ozzie and he was great - knowledgeable, fun and ensured we saw lots of game. All the big 5 as well as smaller animals and birds.  Great safaris. 
They also did a beautiful river cruise included which was just perfect.  It went down to Kenton on sea and we got out on this beautiful beach and walked.  Perfect. There were loads of birds including kingfishers to see on the journey down river.  
The breakfast and lunch is really lovely.

Great game reserve- perfect stay

Unbelievable experience with exceptional people and one of the best Rangers I have ever met, made this place and the surrounding our really felt home in the bush. Thanks to all of you , but especially to Kyran our Ranger to make this a lifetime memory !

Incredible Africa

Wow... what a few days in the Kariega Game Reserve. We stayed at the River Lodge for 2 nights. The athmosphere was very familiar & we immediately felt very comfortable. The excursions were very good. Kyran's knowledge is huge & he showed us some beautiful places & we saw a lot of different animals.
Our room was great & we could watch animals from our balcony from time to time. The food was very tasty, the service & ambience were great. We can only recommend the River Lodge, it was great & we look forward to coming back sometime! 


Wow!

We had a brilliant time at Kariega River Lodge - the staff were welcoming and the location is amazing! As first-timers to game reserves, Kariega was a perfect first experience seeing a broad range of animals that seemed happy in their environment and our guide, Kyran, was an enthusiastic and informative leader of our group. The lodges are a relaxing spot when not exploring where you you’re living alongside herds of impala and groups of cheeky monkeys with giraffes crossing our path after dinner being a particular highlight!  The food offering for breakfast, lunch and dinner topped off a great stay and we hope to return!

First Timers On Safari

Our first ever safari and unforgettable experience. Staff are so attentive. They go above and beyond and it is obvious they love what they do. 
Food  was magnificent. 
Considering we were in the bush, the cleanliness was exceptional. 
I was very apprehensive about doing safari but our ranger Trust was amazing. Trust by name, Trust by nature. I could not have put myself in better hands. He is very vigilant and he managed to show us all The Big 5 even down to 2 baby lion cubs. Not once did I feel insecure.

Unforgettable Safari experience

My son and I spent 3 days in paradise with exeptionally professional and friendly staff.
Perfect game drives, perfect accommodation, perfect food, perfect everything. 
We were impressed to see how protecting and respecting the wildlive can fit together with sensitive tourism.

Days in paradise

We stayed for three nights at the River Lodge and had the most amazing time. Our Ranger was David Fraser and we benefitted from his incredible skills, know ledge and experience on three late afternoon/early evening safaris and two early morning river trips. David’s passion for the environment and the wildlife meant this visit was not simply exciting and enjoyable, it was an education too. We saw white rhino, black rhino, elephants, hippos, lions, giraffes and numerous other animals and many fascinating birds, including the wonderful African Fish Eagle. David’s calm control meant we felt perfectly safe as rhino and elephants passed us within a few feet. Every aspect of the trip was top class - the friendly, helpful staff, the great meals, the accommodation, the location, the ambience…including a BBQ one evening ending with songs and dancing by the staff. Our accommodation (one of just 10 individual lodges for a maximum of 20 people on site, so very exclusive) was the furthest from the lodge and so we had our own personal electric golf cart to travel to and from our room, which had a lovely sun deck and pool alongside. There were frequently animals outside our accommodation and one morning we passed seven giraffes just the other side of some bushes as we drove to breakfast. This visit fulfilled all of our dreams of what a visit to a game reserve could be - totally professional and geared to deliver the best possible all-round experience for the guests.

What an amazing experience!

From being greeted on arrival by Damon our ranger to saying farewell as we left Damon couldn’t have done more to make our stay really special. His knowledge of the animals was second to none and we saw so many different species.  With a boat trip to the beach and a night safari we were spoiled. We were greeted by giraffes outside our suite one morning and had Nyala walk past while we were sitting by the pool. All the staff were friendly and the food exceptional.  Our stay at River Lodge went beyond our expectations and we would 100% recommend this game reserve.

Animals and staff didn’t disappoint

Just finished three nights here and I can't fault it in anyway. 

From when we arrived we were greated with a welcome drink and hot towel.  This continued after every drive, ...Nice touch.

I thought getting up at 5am would be a struggle but no problem when you see what's ahead of you.

We were very lucky to have Damon as our Ranger. He was absolutely brilliant. His knowledge and enthusiasm was amazing and its obvious he enjoys what he does. He does not just show you the big five he goes into depth on their environment and also showed us the small 5!!! . Trip was a birthday celebration and he prepared a champagne lunch on Safari..that will never be forgotten ...thanks

This was followed by a boat trip up the river with a cooling down swim.

Food is exceptional and if you get to the BBQ .its not to be missed

I've travelled alot and this place is up there with the best...don't hesitate to check it out

Excellent place , amazing experience

Amazing game drives bring you within metres of lions, elephants and rhinos.

We arrived at 4 in the afternoon after and were immediately offered the opportunity to go out on a game drive. That afternoon we saw lionesses up close, as well as elephants,  zebras, giraffes and May species of wild deer. 

The highly experienced rangers bring you out twice a day and the range of animals you see increases every day.

Back at the lodge the food is of the highest quality, with friendly service and the opportunity to relax over a drink in the lounge or on the deck overlooking the river.

We were very impressed by the experience and hospitality of ranger Matt and lodge manager Sakhe. 

Staying in the lodge and seeing the wildlife in their natural surroundings is fantastic. Can only recommend it.

We were in chalet 7 which is right beside the main block and really convenient.
