Wonderful experience at Madikwe Hills! Lovely property with luxurious roomy suites. It was a complete wildlife show from the deck watching all of the animals around the waterholes. The drives were very enjoyable and we saw so many different animals. Our guide team was Kaiser with tracker David and their passion and love of the bush was contagious. The lodge team could not have been more accommodating. We are so thankful that we visited

Paradise

We enjoyed our time here, hospitality and rooms/food were excellent and our drives good, at times a bit quiet on the jeep but still good fun. The view of the watering hole was great from the rooms and we really enjoyed watching the animals whilst relaxing on our deck.

Hospitality in the Hills

Wow! What a wonderful, fantastic, awesome, special, excellent experience we had at Madikwe Hills! Stayed for about a week and enjoyed each and every day -- from the early morning game drives (with bush coffee) to the evening game drives (with sundowners) and everything in between! The food was amazing with great variety expertly prepared and the accommodations are better than 5 star! Our guide and tracker were very thorough and  taught us so much on every drive. Thanks for a wonderful time -- I highly recommend this lodge and have already suggested it to friends and family looking for an amazing time in South Africa.

An Amazing Week at Madikwe Hills!

Simply outstanding in every way. From the rooms, to the food, to the service, to the guides and game drives. Everything about Madikwe Hills is considered and excellent. Even their wine cellar is something to behold! Book today. You will not regret it.

Perfection in Madikwe!

The lodge has a beautyful location and the rooms and interiør is really fantastic. One of the best rooms we had in a very long time. It is small and intimate lodge and they also facilitate a nice social settings around the fire and dinner in the evening. Many South Africans go there for some days. There are alot of animals. We saw them all except for the lepard. The quality of the food varies and the last boma dinner was quite tasteless with tough meat but on the other hand the setting and embience around the Boma dinner was fantastic. My recommendation is to take the flight to Madikwe to avoid risk of beeing hijacked. We were followed by a car and luckily we had a very experienced driver so we managed to get away from the guys who followed us. This is the first time the driver has experienced this, but November and December 2023 tourists were hijacked on the road around sun city. The same area they came after us.

Fantastic lodge!

We had an exceptional stay at Madikwe Hills. All the staff members were very friendly and attentive. There was a good variety of food and great options for vegetarians also. All of our meals were delicious and presented beautifully. Our Lodge was absolutely stunning and had all the amenities we would have wanted. Stunning views from our Lodge and a very comfortable bed. They provide complimentary laundry service which was useful. We also had massages and facials at Madikwe Hills which were of high standard and very relaxing. Twice a day we went on a game drive which we loved. Ivan and Max were very knowledgeable and entertaining on our game drives. We saw a vast amount of animals and captured beautiful photos in Madikwe National Park. A truly memorable stay for our whole family and somewhere we would definitely visit again! Thank you again from the Patel family to all the staff at Madikwe Hills for such a wonderful stay.

Incredible stay at Madikwe Hills

The management team at this lodge is top-class. I loved the easy-to-read postcards telling us everything we needed to know in a fun way as well as Bush Etiquette for Humans :)  Nothing left to chance or memory here. The lodge is set on a koppie amongst big boulders and has a view of the plains and waterhole where animals abound. The rooms, decks and little plunge pools are lovely and the food is outstanding. What a spoil. I can highly recommend this lodge.

 A wedding anniversary spoil in Madikwe

Madikwe Hills Lodge is a fantastic place. From the warm welcome at the lodge by Ezelle to unbelievable game drives with Sam and Max, we could not have hoped for a better experience. The accommodations are very spavious and well appointed, each with a view towards the water holes were animals regularly gather and can be viewed from the comfort of your own deck or living room. The restaurant and bar offer delicious drinks and food, and excellent service. Of course the highlight of a stay at a game lodge are the game drives and Madikwe Hills does not disappoint. Our guide and tracker , Sam and Max, were great. We saw many more animals than expected, and learned so much about them. From birds to elephants, lions, cheetahs, many kinds of antelopes, rhinos, and giraffes, Sam's knowledge and desire to show us a s much as possible of this beautiful reserve made for a once in a lifetime experience. 

Fantastic Safari Experience

A truly amazing and personal experience at Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge. From the booking agent through to Noelene at the Lodge and then every staff member who gave us such personal attention. Too many to mention. A trip like this will always rely on an amazing lodge/unit, food of course but the real attraction remains the beauty of the Africa bush, the wildlife, fauna, flora and this all gets delivered by a very knowledgeable and almost charming/funny game ranger and tracker. You will spend in the region of six hours a day on a game drive and then get spoilt with amazing food and views. Thanks very much. 

Spectacular Madikwe Hills - wonderful experience.

This was my first time visiting South Africa. After a few months of deliberating over all the different reserves and lodges, I decided on Madikwe Hills. I loved every minute of being there! The lodge has a lot of watering holes, so you see animals all the time without even going on the game drives. We saw tons and tons of elephants, giraffes, baboons, kudu, impala, zebra, warthogs, buffalo, rhinos, and other animals I can't name, every day during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and just being in our room.
This lodge is beautiful! It's built atop a rock formation and has trees growing through places in the main lodge. You get a surprising luxury for being in the middle of the bush. The rooms are huge and comfortable, with large outside decks for animal watching.
I want to thank everyone at Madikwe Hills for giving us such a good trip.
We had amazing food every day. The chefs were so creative, and everything I ate was good. The pastry chef Tuhla was superb. Jaku the assistant restaurant manager was so sweet and helpful. All the restaurant staff were so kind and though I don't remember all their names, Sello was always wonderful to see everyday. 
I got two great massages from Ellen. She's great, and was very intuitive. Getting a few treatments with her helped get over the long flights to get to SA. 
Ezelle, Irene, and (I hope I'm spelling her name right) Nolene, at the front office were great. 
Our first two game drives were with Jacques and Max from another lodge because our flight was late, so they helped out, and they were awesome and a lot of fun.  
I especially want to thank our Guide and Tracker, Brian and Charlie. They were the best! They were such sweet and funny guys that made our trip worth the long flights to get there. Watching the sun come up every morning and going down every night while out in the bush was an experience I'll never forget. Being out there with all the wildlife is a kind of peaceful nirvana that I think everyone should experience. Brian and Charlie are very good at what they do, and it was fun to watch them locate certain animals by paying attention to all the others and how they were behaving, besides other ways of locating animals. The highlight was seeing lion and cheetah cubs. We saw lots of other lions and 3 adult cheetahs, lots of jackals (hearing them all call out to each other from everywhere in the morning is amazing!), hyenas, wild dogs, a crocodile, amazing birds that Brian would call out and knew tons of interesting facts on each one. I don't remember all the animals we saw, but they were all beautiful. 
The best staff by far though were Luna and Missy. They greeted us every time we got back from the drives, though they'd ask for belly rubs all the time which wasn't very professional. (jk they're dogs) 
To make a long review longer; if you're going to SA, visit Madikwe Reserve, stay at Madikwe Hills, ask for Brian and Charlie as your guide and tracker, get a massage with Ellen, and connect with nature in a way that everyone should.
