Bramasole was recommended to us by a friend who lives locally because of the beautiful setting. We were not disappointed and the access road from the R71  is an easy drive. The hotel building and setting  is wonderful and the staff is friendly but the overall impression is that this beautiful location needs some TLC. 
Some examples: 
- The towel rail in my room clattered to the ground when I removed a towel. When I mentioned this I was promised it would be fixed. Sure enough, it was up on the wall again, but the minute I touched it it fell down once more.
- The shower in another room floods the bathroom floor when used.
- missing curtain hooks on the bedroom curtains
- garden chair tore when one of us  sat on it
- empty soap dispensers in the bathrooms

Please! Look after this beautiful place so that it can be enjoyed by future guests.

Beautiful setting but needs some TLC

Vuyo our host was so helpful, warm and welcoming. As were the two chefs who made us the most delicious roast dinner and breakfast. 
Our kids had never stayed in such luxury before and were completely blown away by their gorgeously spacious and lavish room. Everything provided in the rooms was so carefully selected, decorated and chosen for exceptional comfort. 
The kids loved the dam and being able to help themselves to kayaks to paddle around. The gardens were immaculate.
We were completely blown away by Magoebaskloof in general too.  There is such beauty in this town and so much to do and see and eat!!!! Cannot wait to come back and spend more time there. We are avid birders so this area was great too. 

Such luxury, set in a beautiful forest. Quiet and peaceful - far away from 'normal' life!

We have just returned from another weekend in what has become our favourite place to get away from Johannesburg. The Magoebaskloof area is beautiful but Bramasole guesthouse offers a magical setting. The rooms are individually designed so visit their website to take your pick. It is a 3.5-4 hour drive from Jo'burg, transporting you to a natural and idyllic world. It has its own forests to walk in and beautifully maintained gardens and ponds/lakes. Once you park up you can spend the entire time without needing to drive again. If you are interested in birds it is an absolute find! Over our visits we have seen so many special birds- wood owl, crowned eagles, bat hawk, fish eagle catching fish as we ate our breakfast, malachite, pied & giant kingfishers fishing as well, Drakensberg prinea  &  many more birds. The area around the guesthouse is easy and safe to walk on your own. The wi-fi is really good so we plan to take up the mid-week offers and work remotely from here. The work day would be so much more relaxing with a morning forest walk, watch stunning scenery as you work & relax in the garden/ lake when you finish.  The breakfast, the cheese rosti's are so delicious. Friendly staff have a happy, smiley demeanour. Robyn & Melanie McIntosh, are a wonderful couple who host you in their home. With prior arrangement they would cater for vegetarians, vegans etc. I guess you have to just go & find out for yourself if this place will work its magic on you as it has on my husband & I.    

Play and Work from a stunning setting in nature

Bramasole Guest House **** in the Magoebaskloof Mountains is an incredibly beautiful and supremely comfortable stop to or from the Kruger Park. Start your Kruger holiday with a touch of luxury or wash off the Kruger dust on your way home.

Vuyi, the manager, Katy the chef and all the other staff are so friendly, helpful and willing to please. Right from the first greeting, by a gentle dappled dachshund to the final farewell, we loved our stay.

Everything is beautiful. Each room thoughtfully designed to fit it’s theme. And not only beautiful but every possible need is addressed.

Breakfast was delicious and although dinner is not usually served, Katy whipped up a yummy meal for us so that we did not have to brave the pea-soup-mist to go out again. Of course the mist only added to the charm of a beautiful setting.

We can’t wait to come back.

Hidden Treasure

Unfortunately, the long drive to come and an early race in the morning shortened my stay in this very peaceful place...
Very comfortable room, nice walks in the forests, relaxing time at the dam, cuddling the horses...
As I couldn't have the breakfast due to my early departure, they organised a breakfast box for me.
Good service...

I wish I would have stayed longer

We booked to stay at Bramasole for a wedding that had shifted from the previous year due to Covid-19.  We booked the best room, but unfortunately never made the stay due to the wedding being cancelled a second time. Throughout this period we had been in touch with Booking.com to request a refund as the trip to SA couldn't be made.  As the Guesthouse was slow to respond to Booking.com we agreed to contact Bramasole directly.  We had to make multiple calls, and send multiple emails before Bramasole would even respond.  Eventually we got in-touch where they assured us our refund would be paid, however to please bear with them due to revenue recovery due to Covid-19.  Whilst nigh on 2yrs in the booking, fair enough as keen to support businesses where possible.  However,  they have taken advantage of this good nature as over 3 months on, and 1 month post the actual booking date, we have still received nothing.  The worst of this being after speaking with Vuyo on the phone being told that we would 100% receive our refund in full this week as she agreed 3 months was too long since agreement, and other refunds had since been made to other customers.  Constant excuses being made to let me speak with my colleague, I believe Melanie in Finance, but again nothing!  I'm sure Bramasole is located in a lovely part of SA, but please save your money, and look to book elsewhere with a more reputable guesthouse, one that actually communicates and doesn't make broken promises as it could clearly ruin your holiday / wedding day! We are now going through our Bank and Booking.com to highlight these failed assurances to the booking.

Avoid this Guesthouse, constant excuses

From the moment you step into beautiful Bramasole, you are welcomed by the friendliest staff who are willing to go above and beyond every request without any hesitation. Each room with a unique theme and feel, allowing a very comfortable escape.
We were a big group and from breakfast to braaiing at the boathouse, we were incredibly happy with the way that our guests were treated throughout the stay. 

Definitely a place that I would recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy the magic of Magoebaskloof.

Wedding stay bliss

Superb guesthouse in beautiful surroundings. The azalea garden is something to behold and the sundowner platform is a winner in the late afternoon. The rooms are excellent, especially the Praque Room where we stayed. Great stoep that looks over the garden and the fireplace made for wonderful evenings. We had dinner delivered to our room and without exception it was excellent. The staff was friendly and provided great service.

For us however the best was the wonderful birdlife in the garden and also the well-marked forest walk. All in all a great experience, which convinced us to go back in summer.

Peaceful Relaxation

From the road you are welcomed by the beauty of the natural surroundings. The attention to detail and high quality of furnishings. The rooms are decorated with personal items of the owners and giving you insight into the life of them as family. Comfort, modern convenience and true hospitality. This is a must on your bucket list

Heaven in the mountains

We stayed in the new Hanoi room. The room was comfortable, though small. What we loved most about this room, is that it is one of few rooms with a bathroom that is completely closed off and has a door. We don't like open plan bathroom-bedrooms. 

The lake house is great. Also enjoyed kayaking and fly fishing. (There is a mix of tilapia and trout for those who want to fly fish). We went for a late afternoon walk around the property and heard turaco calling. Great area for bird watching.

Breakfast had plenty options. I specifically mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday that day and that I wanted a table set apart from the other guests outside. It was raining so I understand that this could not be done, but would have liked a bit of attention to detail. We didn't really have a place to sit (the other tables were set and occupied). So we had to set our own table...

The coffee plunger in our room was also left dirty. We were disappointed as we were looking forward to having good coffee in the morning.

Wasn't a good start to our day, but we enjoyed the stay overall.
