Wow! What a magical destination tucked in the hills of Magoebaskloof! As soon as you enter, you're greeted by vistas of the great Tzaneen lake in the horizon. Johannes, the host is so friendly and extremely hospitable. The Cottages are so cozy and on clear nights, the stars dazzle and dance all around. If you love Views, Forests, Nature and comfortable getaways this place is for you!

Friendly Forests of Tzaneen

We were a group of 8 people who stayed over on Saturday 10th August 2019.   The suites are so well appointed and very clean and fresh,  The furniture and fittings are of the highest quality.  We all agreed that it was well worth the visit and we all want to return for a longer stay.  I've seen some comments about the road,  We are a bunch of motorbike riders who arrived after sunset in the rain and mist.  No problem at all and even more so for cars.

WHAT A PLEASURE     I GIVE IT 100%

Our family of six(4 children aged 9, 7, 3 and 1) stayed for a week in the “Cottage with a view”. It had everything we needed during our stay, even swimming towels. The Cottage has a patio with a beautiful view over the Magoebas valley. Our kids had so much fun playing in the garden and swimming in the pool. The Lodge is perfectly situated in Magoebaskloof, a short drive to all the attractions in the area. Thank you to our hosts and especially to Johannes for making us feel at home.

Blissful week

We stayed here for two nights.The room and bathroom were very spacious and clean, but cold in the evening (no heater was provided).
The lodge is located at the escarpment and provides great views down the Letaba valley.
We experienced also two spectacular sunrises as the lodge faces east.
This lodge has various options of accommodation, ideal for families or a group of friends.
Convenient stopover between Kruger Park and Gauteng.

Wonderful view

Not taking away anything from the beautiful location and the amazing views, this establishment is in need of some maintenance.... the main lodge is also in very short supply when it comes to crockery, knives and some sort of plastic containers if you are doing self catering for a period of more than a couple of days. Luckily the lodge is equipped with gas stoves as the likelihood of power failures in the area is a huge probability. Guests should be advised on booking confirmation that this occurs on a regular basis and they should be prepared. They do have a generator but 
It is only switched on for a couple of hours in the evening and 
does  not power everything. Also found that it is not child or aged-people friendly as the stairs/ladders to the loft rooms are quite hair-raising. Apart from the swimming pool, there are no other distractions for toddlers and you need to keep a constant watch on them due to the few water tanks and electric fencing on the property. They advertise a pool table but currently it is not fuctioning, no cues and balls and has a tear on it.... they also advertise fans, but not all the rooms have these and if the place is fully booked, you have to do without. We found that the upstairs rooms were unbearably hot, even with the fan on. The place could certainly do with aircon units as well as an alternative and reliable source of power...also found the facilities available very confusing as well as the room accommodations... the TVs are minute and we had no satellite reception...
It is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and the views are absolutely breathtaking... so that is a plus....

Room with a view....

Despite being given text instructions on how to get to the lodge from the main road we still managed to get lost. Instructions on distances need to be given in kms and clear signage put up for travelers to see. I would imagine that the road to the lodge could be pretty slippery in the wet weather.
We eventually arrived at the lodge to be welcomed by staff members and shown to our room (Blue Room). The room was comfortable and continental breakfast supplied adequate.
Unfortunately later in the evening when needing to bath it was found that the hot water geyser was not working. Alternate arrangements were made to use the bathroom in an adjacent cottage the next morning.
The garden and views were very nice.

One Night Stop Over To The Kruger Park

We are a family of 8 that visited. We booked the cottage and two double rooms. The road to the lodge is not great, but can be reach with a normal car.  The lodge has beautiful views. Lots of opportunity. The host was super friendly which made up for the initial struggle with hot water. The rooms are clean and neat. However there is no heaters or air-cons. The extra blankets in the cupboards were smelling moldy.  
Overall not be and was a good experience.

Beautiful views in one of the most beautiful areas

The facilities are good and the views are amazing.
Frans was very helpful and accommodating even though we had our booking dates wrong.
Pre-Check-in info received was very helpful.

There was however no check-out time specified and at 10h00 a very rude Mirjam came into our unit shouting and clapping hands as though she was chasing pesty birds from a garden patch. She also scolded our 6 year old daughter for playing (quietly by herself) on the lawn close to their unit which is not closed off. If you are very particular about your check-out time (which most accept to be 11h00) and lawn areas this should be communicated upon check-in.
