A wonderful stop over place from which to explore Magoebaskloof. Cosy, private, peaceful, comfortable cottages with everything you need. Just take all your food and necessities as there are no nearby shops. Great on-site walking, swimming, fishing and mountainbiking. Highly recommended

Tranqulity is

We stayed 2 nights in the 4 bed chalet the house was a bit odd just looking like extension work. There was no electricity. The dam was beautiful and lush. But everything else was underwhelming. Will hope next time is better.

I loved staying in the cute four bedroom house. It reminded me of the Drakensberg of old. The open fireplace was fantastic. So peaceful, I drank in the quiet - which is such a gift these days! This is an unpretentious, lovely place. Thank you.

We would like to thank you for affording us the opportunity to rest, relax and have a wonderful time at your beautiful 4 Bedroom Cabin

 It needs to be said, that the cabin was in immaculate condition and really clean. It was such a pleasure to walk into such a well-equipped cabin, smell the fresh mountain air and enjoy a wonderfully laid out home.

Your linen and beds are top of the range, and our entire party commented on what good nights' sleep we all had.

I would also like to give a hearty thank you to Salome and Esther, your cleaning team; as they were so non-invasive, cleaned beautifully and were so friendly.

We tried two of your recommended activities: In The Company of Horses (Equine Adventures) and the beautiful and delightful lady, Colleen who did my Reflexology. I have never in my life been to such a through (treatment) and thoroughly delightful lady, Colleen. Her passion for Stanford's history shone through. 

What made our stay at your beautiful lodge even more special, is the fact that both my mom, and my hubbys' parents, alongside our daughter, joined us for the week. It was honestly a good, relaxing break for our souls to re-coup.

You will most certainly be seeing us, as well as our friends and family, soon!

Relaxing week in the forest, in really beautiful cabin

I recently visited Stanford lodge whilst on a business trip. A friend suggested Stanford lodge as an ideal place to overnight. I throughly enjoyed the lodge, the accomodation & amenities. Very clean, well kept and very scenic. I decided to stay for another day & night. Thank you to you and your wife Gavin. Business trip

Nestled between woods and water... the perfect getaway for a peaceful weekend/ midweek-break!
Super comfortable and clean! Everything you need, is there!! I loved the honesty jar for the firewood and charcoal! 
Spacious, cosy and charming log cabin. 
We are going back, for sure!!

A hidden gem...!

Scenic jogging - check. Lots to do - check. Awesome restaurants - check. Most amazing forest walk - check. Waterfall - check. Swimming - check. Not far to drive from Gauteng - check. Wil go again - check check check. 

Just wow

We stayed a single night in the four bedroom cottage on the way to Kruger. Extremely spacious with large rooms and an open plan dining and lounge area. Lovely fireplace and electric blankets on all the beds to keep the cold at bay. The road to the cottages is gravel and the area can get misty. 

Spacious accommodation in idyllic setting 

Stanford Lake Lodge is situated close to many sightseeing locations, but still nestled in breathtaking countryside. There is lots to see and do on the farm: beautiful hikes in the indigenous forest, canoeing/fishing on the lake, bird watching or driving/hiking to the waterfall and Ebenezer dam. We really enjoyed our 4 day stay!

Very Comfortable Stay

Our stay was excellent! We received all the relevant information upon confirming the booking, specifically the map of the farm, and the directions. 

We stayed in the single story log cabin and found the facilities in the log cabin up to standard. There was a full kitchen, and the town of Haenertsburg is nearby if you need any groceries. There is a Weber braai and fireplace to make your stay comfortable. The stunning view of the lake can be appreciated from the lounge and bedroom windows.

There indigenous forest and farm walks are very relaxing and a great way to keep fit and rejuvenate. Take a bottle of water, some snacks, and your hiking stick for a lovely stroll in the midst of a pine forest.

Forest walks: Indigenous forest has wild grass that can pull clothing and may cause skin to itch, perhaps consider a small notice on the map advising that guests take care, and carry some itch soothing cream. This didn't trouble me as it is an indigenous forest, and I had Dermikelp itch cream with me
