This is the first time I have been glamping and found this resort to exceed my expectations. This resort has paid attention to details: the complimentary toiletries in the rooms were high quality and most welcome; the comfort of the tents themselves were awesome and the staff were friendly and thorough. Having a separate kitchen attached to our tent was helpful since our family had a site with the two tents-so both parties were able to use the kitchen without impinging on the sleep or private time of the others. Leonie, the manager, was hugely knowledgeable of the local area and was hugely welcoming and efficient. The idea of keeping guests updated on local events such as wildlife, traffic and load-shedding by using Whatsapp messages is ingenious as well as being extremely useful. We were treated to many visits from the local wildlife who wandered past to drink from the waterhole nearby. Although the time of year was not conducive for using our private plunge pool, during the hot, summer months, this inviting pool must be most welcome. Our little family loved our stay and will no doubt book some time again in the future. Thank you Jackalberry for such an amazing stay!

Wow, this is a special place!

Wonderful wonderful place on the edge of Kruger National Park. This is how glamping should be done - incredible luxury our tent had its own little pool, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with corner bath! There a pool for the site, playground and wifi available at main reception.  Every member of staff was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. A perfect location from which to explore Kruger  

How Glamping should be done ! 

My wife and I spent 4 days in a chalet. Our first visit and we have planned to visit again. There was nothing we could have asked for in this 4* accommodation. Easy access to KNP via Crocodile and Malelane gates. Passing our boma were many animals and the birding was wonderful. To crown it all was our own plunge pool very welcome in the January heat.

Lodge located in a strategic location in Marloth Park 15 minutes from the entrance to Kruger Park. The luxury tents are spacious and equipped with a private outdoor space where you can often find a number of animals visiting. The accommodation is super spacious and furnished in colonial style, equipped with everything necessary (including the kitchen) Excellent cleaning.

Dive into the bush

We have stayed at Jackalbery Ridge on  4 occasions and really enjoyed every stay. The bird life and game is out of ths world. The management and staff are very professional and run a well managed and maintained operation. We will be back in 2021.

A magical game lodge

Exceptionally well appointed accommodation.  Spotless and much nicer than when we were last here.  Only one gripe, extremely noisy children in unit behind us.  It was fine when they were just playing, but screaming and clearly no supervision was very intrusive.  A note for Marloth security, on entry we were simply waved through. It was only on second day entry that we were issued an entry card.  But overall our experience been great. 

Lovely stay

Our stay was in a self catering Luxury Safari tent on "stilts"(not all the tents are in the air). We were over the moon for being in the air with our bushveld view and our own clean private spashpool with child/wildlife net and own pump and filter. A nice lapa at our leisure was a bonus. The BIG bed with clean bedding were comfy with a mosquito net(Remember, you are in the bushveld). Our bathroom and kitchen was brickbuilt and situated below the tent so you have to open the tent at night to use any of these. Roaming wildlife(kudu, warthhog, bush buck, wildebeest, rooibok and more) visited us and we could feed them(food available at the shop). The facility were serviced(except Sundays) by friendly staff. No problem with other guests. By clever planning you could hardly see any other tents. We enjoyed the wide variety of birds(which we also fed) a lot. The Marloth shop centre and restaurant also nearby should you need something. Management were helpfull and very friendly. We arrived after hours but it was no problem, management sorted the key pickup promptly. TIP: Take bug spray, you will need it.

Again and Again

We stayed during our trip in the Kruger National Park in Tamboti tented camp and we loved that, so we thought it would be lovely to book a tent during our stay in Marloth. We are truely happy we stayed only one night. It was horrible.

The reception times are a bit odd, but maybe they have their reasons for it. We arrived at 16:50 and the reception was closed at 16:30. It is really close to Kruger and in winter the gate close at 18:30 so people who visit the main attraction in the area will never meet someone at the reception. This is a strange choice in our opinion, but it wasn't the worst. On the board was a print with a description to our tent and where we could find the key. Note that the gate was open and litteraly anyone could go to the board and check out where new tourists are checking in. Marloth has a safety issue, that is generally known, and we noticed it when we entered Marloth itself, the security lacks. Strange when you think about the recent incident... but oke. We got to our tent and we were stunned. This was not what we booked, or at least, not what we expected. In the description was stated that it was a luxury tent with a bathroom and kitchen. Perfect if you want the experience of a tent, but don't want to go camping. However, this tent was placed on a little building with the bathroom and the kitchen inside. Nothing like the pictures on Tripadvisor or on their own website. Now we still had to go outside the tent to use the bathroom. We did not like the accomodation, that was clear. However there was so much more. The lights outside were broken, a light inside was broken, the door of a cabinet was broken (due to the heavy wind we had that night it kep slamming), there was litter all over the place outside, the seat of one of the chairs was ripped, the velcro in the tent was mostly gone which made it nearly impossible to close a window, the pool was litteraly black. The most disgusting was the bathroom. We come to the bush often and we love insects and we know that the summer time is bug time. We don't care, we adore them. However, this bathroom was covered in lots and lots (think of 30-40) dead house flies. No other insects, just house flies. The tent itself was flimsy. It did not feel safe at all. To make things even worse: when we got back from the restaurant (which was lovely) there was a man on the porch of the reception. He was observing the area. We thought: ah finally someone from this company! We greeted him and waved. Well he was definitely not a part of the Jackalberry Ridge team. The gate was open and anyone could get in. If you feel like someone who doesn't belong there is there anyway and you sleep in a flimsy tent ánd we read in the welcoming instructions that Jackalberry Ridge is not responsible for anything during your stay: well that is just a horrible feeling.

In the morning we finally met someone at the desk. She was nice, but we had a horrible night, we had an appointment and we were mad about the whole situation so we left as soon as we could. 

We chose this accomodation based on the great reviews of others, but I guess they have stayed in a different tent, because we go to the bush a lot, we don't have high standards, but we wouldn't wish this kind of accomodation to anyone. For us: never again.

Horrible stay - never again

A top of range on accommodation,service and friendly, competent management. We have been offered an exchange for the failed Burchel lodge, and what an experience! To be fair, no air conditioning or TV in the units, but it compensated with the view, giraffes at close proximity, several types of buds roaming free between the units...wild birds...wonderful experience.

Great resort to visit

This is a self-catering facility consisting of luxury tents as main living area with brick-built kitchen and bathroom. Surrounded by unspoilt indigenous bush where a variety of animals roam freely and lions can be heard roaring at night from the nearby Lionspruit reserve and Kruger Park. Our "visitors" included kudu, warthogs, zebra,wildebeest and bush buck and a large variety of bird life. Units are serviced daily (except Sundays) and are kept spotlessly clean. The staff are pleasant and friendly. Each unit has its own splash pool (with a child net if required) and this was most welcome in the 40C heat we had on a few of the days.I cannot fault this if you are a bush lover. There are several restaurants/pubs within a few minute drive of the resort.
