Piet Retief

Had a great stay. Quite, restful, woke up to wonderful bird song. Lovely dinner and excellent breakfast. Will definitely sleepover there again when in the area. Perfect stopover for our bike trip. ......

Paradise

We were well looked after and served with a very tasty "South African" dinner which we had ordered in advance. Drinks were available in the "honesty" fridge and the mark up was low. Our room was large clean and very comfortable and the view from the window was beautiful. Breakfast was excellent and we left feeling that we didn't need much lunch!
The farm is outside the town but well worth the drive as the town is not very attractive.

Excellent Accommodation and Food

We stopped over at Rohrs Farm on our way to St Lucia and we truly had a wonderful time.  We arrived at about 16:00 and checked in.  We were greeted and showed to our room.  

The room (Room 2) was super spacious and neat, and it really did have that homey touch with a beautiful view over the garden and hills. There was fresh farm milk in the fridge for our coffee and home made oats biscuits and fresh lavender on the pillows.  We had coffee and later on went into town for dinner.  The town (Piet Retief) is about 10km away so the Farm is perfectly situated far enough to be out of the noise but close enough that you can easily drive in and out.

The following morning we had the best breakfast.  Fresh coffee and fruit salad, poached eggs and sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes and beans and fresh bread with butter and preserves.  

The grounds were neat and the gardens really well kept.  There is also a small pond.  This is the ideal break away and perfect stopover on your way to the South Coast.

This is the perfect place to just relax and rewind.

We hope to return soon!

Beautiful Country House Stopover

Did not expect this level comfort in the middle of nowhere. We had great fun with another guest who was staying there..playing cards and using the honesty bar.

Their breakfast option was well worth it too especially at 630am as we wanted to leave early. Their dogs roam freely and they were friendly. The brown puppy, however, can be bit unruly. We are dog lovers so we enjoyed the dogs but I'd be a little careful if you have kids.

Luxury in the country

We had booked here as a stopover on the way to the north. With the GPS it was very good to find; the last piece of the city out here to the farm made us doubt a little, but the farm itself is absolutely beautiful and the room was very good and large. The reception by Heidrun was super nice and we felt very well here. Unfortunately we hadn't booked dinner, so we had to go back to Piet Retief (which is not a problem, we are about 20 km away). Breakfast was good and rich.

Nice accommodation in a rural area

When we arrived, we had a good dinner and were greeted kindly. Unfortunately, we hardly got any further explanations, which we felt sorry for, even though everything was written down. The breakfast was also very good and the view from the yard was great. The facilities were a little too cold for our taste, but everything was very clean and well maintained.

Intermediate stop

We pulled in at Rohrs for the first night of our road trip and it was everything we needed: clean, spacious accommodation set in a beautiful, serene garden with gorgeous views. Heidrun and Remo were welcoming and we felt at home. It's great for families and the price is right. 

There's not much in Piet Retief, but it works as a stopover.

A perfect stopover

Unfortunately, it's only one night as an intermediate station from Jo'burg to St. Lucia.

Stopover

On our journey from the north to St. Lucia, we spent one night at Piet Retief Station and were greeted with incredible warmth at the Röhrs Farm. Our room was very large and furnished with comfortable beds. We provided for ourselves and were able to use all the facilities of the breakfast room as well as the beautiful large terrace. The entire garden is very well maintained and the animals (dogs, ducks, chickens, etc.) moving around convey farm feeling - simply beautiful and very happy to return!
