THE DAY PRIOR to check in, a Saturday, the "open letter" available on the Tented Adventures website was sent out.  I immediately contacted the venue directly (Pretorius Kop) and was advised they knew nothing of the closure.  Minutes later, I was advised they were indeed closed.  Not even the staff at the camps knew they were closed.

To date, despite assurances in that self pitying open letter to do so and those of Pretorius Kop managers, there has been no feedback on the way forward..YET THEY STILL OFFER PACKAGES??

SCAM OR UNSCRUPULOUS CARELESSNESS

We have booked Pilansberg and awaiting refund. We have also booked Pretoriuskop for August. This is concerning as we purchased a few  vouchers. It is sad that Tented Adventures  took money from consumers, knowing their is a possibility they would not be able to fulfill their promise. I will not support this company in the future,  and I will not recommend Tented Adventures, We were promised refunds and this has not happened. The owner does not respond to any emails.

Don't purchase vouchers

Nothing luxurious about this camp!  Tents basic, toilets and showers falling apart, food was awful, safari truck broke down so couldn't go on one of our safari's and no alternative offered.  Friendly staff was a saving grace!

Luxury Accommodation?

Our long awaited trip that was planned and payed for was cancelled the day before departure by tented adventures saying that the lodge is closed with immediate effect for maintenance. 
Leave taken, flights booked and car rental all wasted. We where given the option to either change our reservation to Kruger (but it's Easter weekend, there's no ways Kruger will have space) refund or move to another date. Unfortunately these options don't help much seeing as leave was taken, flights and a car paid for. 
I'll never recommend tented adventures purely on the basis of "closing for maintenance" over Easter weekend with not even one day's notice to clients. I feel this is extremely poor form. 
Good luck with your "maintenance" I hope it's worth it. 

Left high and dry with no where to go. 

One of the most amazing trips with personnel that will go the moon and back to give you excellent food and service, the animals that is on you bucket list and all the information you can absorb.  Unfortunately the overall maintenance of the camp, tents and cruisers are not up to standard.

Best personnel, inferior tents

We bought a deal to come to Tented Adventures for the night, just wanting a break from the city. Given the very affordable cost, we went in with the mindset that it was a relaxed break to the bush, and would take it on that basis. We were so pleasantly surprised. The stay is relatively basic, but the service was second to none. The staff were so lovely and went the extra mile, everything was clean, the game drives were great, the food was delicious, and we were just so happy with it all - taking into account what we knew the trip would be like - relatively inexpensive and simple. It was such a great afternoon, evening, night and morning and we want to thank all staff involved, as they really did make us feel incredibly welcome and made sure we were comfortable and had a good time.

Break to the bush

An all inclusive adventure. 

The tented camp is within the grounds of manyane grounds. The animals are right next to the fence, though the impala make their way around the camp. Only downside is the public ablutions that are shared with the normal camping grounds, though these are well kept and clean. 
They really make an effort with their meals. It’s really set up wonderfully and they make an effort with their presentation. Come hungry as the portions are massive. 

The safari vehicle is covered and has windows so you don’t get cold on those early morning drives. I really liked that. Though there were one or two windows that didn’t work. Korabo, our main trail guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. If there weren’t too many animals, he would explain the plants and birds as well as the cultural significance behind them. 

Definitely a great way to experience the Pilanesberg National Park.

Budget all inclusive Pilanesberg adventure

We had 2 nights here where we were provided with 4 game drives in super enclosed vehicles with very informative and experienced guides. The tents were comfortable and clean. The beds were full sized single beds with clean quality linen. Electricity and wifi provided on-site. There was a large tent with a lounge area. Coffee and tea on tap. There was also a fridge for customers' use. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food that they prepared for us, using basic facilities was absolutely first class. Wine and gin was provided at dinner. On the camp there were a couple of swimming pools, a cafe, bar and 2 x shops for basic needs. All in all we had a great time and can recommend it for anyone interested in clamping in the Pilanesberg.

Kabelo was amazing, informative and incredible at what he does, he spotted a lion at a great distance, and when it was unclear if it was a confirmed spotting he proceeded to track the lion back to the original sighting 

Extremely recommended! Great value for money

Exceptional experience where we were fortunate to view even the rarest of animals and birds. Great service overall. Couldn’t fault anything. Service excellence from a passionate team. We will most certainly return.
