Situated within an easy walking distance to both beaches, we had a lovely stay at this establishment.  it's well equipped, clean and comfortable with a beautiful indigenous garden.  Mine host 'Billy' is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his beloved Plett and we look forward to a return visit in the not too distant future.

Great Location - Beautiful Garden - Spacious Accommodation

I'm not one of those whose drools over Plet. It's a boring little town with a beach, which is overpopulated with the "Sandton privileged" at year end.  Notwithstanding, i had to be there and so my secretary booked me into EdM.  It was, as I would have expected, airy, spacious, a lovely little garden and close to all that "The Pletters" seem, mindlessly(in my view) to think, is in someway attractive, to people such as I, that have, in fact, been to "a place or two".  

So the place was as advertised, the town is a boring little nothing on the Garden Route; however, the proprietor, a "native cockney" called Ron or Billy (I never did work that enigma through) was a real raconteur and local aficionado, who belies his lowly London origins with a real passion for Plet (will never understand that).  

Spent a few hrs getting to know him and have a chat and it made the whole miserable experience of being in Plet a lot better.  Look him up and you'll find an amiable soul who loves spoiling his visitors!! A proper chap.

Business weekend in Plettenberg Bay

We had a lovely time at Estrela do Mar. Airy,clean rooms within a beautiful, indigenous garden. Lovely, modern full bathroom with seperate guest toilet. Venue is close to all amenities but not so close to be noisy.  The owner and his wife were very pleasant and helpful and very knowledgeable on Plett's history,restaurants,beaches etc. Would thoroughly recommend it to anyone,especially families with kids.

Before reading my report please have a quick look at others that I have written.  The accommodation at this place is spacious and the garden    typically South African as indicated photographs. That is where any positive comment ends. The accommodation, at best, was grubby, tired and shabby throughout, and in places dirty. On arrival the DVD player was faulty, the TV picture poor, lighting with the exception of the kitchen below an acceptable level and non of our Apple/Google/Amazon devices (5 items) connected to the Wi-Fi. The DVD player was replaced quickly but on vacating the place after 14 nights,  but 1 week early, only certain lights had been upgraded and the Wi-Fi was still faulty. The blame for the faulty Wi-Fi was first blamed on Telkom and then on Eskom and no refund offered for a service charged for, but not provided. Within a day of arrival cockroaches were running around the kitchen and ants in the 1 bedroom. Although repellants were then provided the problem should have been addressed prior to letting the rooms. The waste and recycle bins were, on 3 occasions, found to be emptied onto the  patio on our return. Normally this is the work of Monkees but in this instance the owners advised that it was their dog. No alternative was offered nor was the dog prevented from entering. The property is only a few metres from Robberg Rd which carries considerable traffic including heavy quarry lorries from early morning and is therefore noisy. Parking for one car is adequate but reversing out into the main road can be dangerous. As previously mentioned we left early and took the keys to the local police station due to the abusive language and threatening behaviour of the proprietor. Unfortunately there is currently no mandatory inspection/regulation of Self Catering Accommodation in South Africa. The South African AA Certificate displayed on the premises is invalid according the the AA. Evidence can be provided.
