Breakfast was the highlight. It was delicious, fresh and sufficient. Charlotte was helpful and friendly, but other staff were not friendly on arrival.

Rooms are dated but is in keeping with the Manor House look however in need of an upgrade. Room 4 was not comfortable and very odd. Room 1 was comfortable and spacious. Toilets were not clean and bathroom could do with an upgrade. Location was good. All in all, don’t think that this is a 4 star establishment, and was rather disappointing considering all the great reviews on Google.

Disappointed

Lovely place. Large and comfortable rooms all kept in excellent condition and the house itself is set in spacious grounds. The breakfast was very tasty, and the hosts very friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I was in the area

Just lovely

Sandra and Arnold are just incredible. Felt like we were staying with friends. Amazingly spacious room. Great conversation over breakfast. Sandra could not have been more friendly and helpful. Definitely staying here again.

Comfortable, great location, friendly

Beautiful old home centrally situated. Very warm welcome from Sandy who keeps this old family home to pristine condition in a quiet location with lovely view of Grey in the background. Breakfast was excellent.

Beautiful home

Our stay with Sandra and Arnold was so lovely. We have made new friends for life.
The house is a grand family home and is set in gardens, and with a lovely pool for hot days.
Besides Sandra 's wonderful hosting, the breakfast was hearty and set us up for the day and our room was comfortable, clean and quiet.
We loved our stay at Hallack Manor and will return...sometime.

Felt like we were visiting old friends

So enjoyed our stay....large bedroom, with living room area and spacious bathroom. Comfortable bed with tea and coffee i  our room together with delicious home made rusks...Sandy the owner so friendly and makes you feel at home.....with a hearty breakfast to start the day. Close to all ammenities...Thank you.

Comfortable, friendly stay

Hallack Manor is located on the top of Target Kloof and was very convenient to all the places we needed to be at.  Sandy, the owner, was very friendly and accommodating with all our needs and even had a staff member make samp and beans for my sister during our lengthy stay.

We were offered an enormous breakfast daily of bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and either another 2 types of meat or potato cake, toast, fruit salad, granola with yoghurt, orange and guava juice and a choice of coffee or tea.

There were tea and coffee makings in room with something that looked like rusks (a snack), a small fridge, some rooms had a microwave, shampoo, shower gel, hand soap, some rooms had hair dryers but you could always ask for one if yours didn't have one and fresh towels each day.  We did not make use of the pool as it was a bit too cold. 

As others have noted, the wifi was weak and erratic in the rooms during our stay, though it did seem to work just fine on the patio in the front of the house. I gave the B&B 4 stars as I really needed the wifi for work and was not able to log into work from my room most of the time.  All in all, we had a good stay here.

Friendly hostess with large breakfasts each day

We stay two nights in Port Elizabeth and this hotel was a very quiet and comfortable accommodation, with a delicious breakfast. It's not near to the beach, then maybe you will need car to move to there.

Very comfortable

Firstly, i would like to say, thank you to Sandra and Arnold and all the staff at Hallack Manor Guesthouse! Sandra opened her house and her heart to us all. Everybody is so friendly, the place was spotless, and the breakfast was spot on everyday! 
We all work in the hospitality industry and i must say, Sandra, you are amazing!
Sandra, you run a beautiful place and you posative attitude about everything in life is really an eye opener! I will most definitely recommend this beautiful spot and will be back!

Best accommodation in Port Elizabeth

This guest house has nothing to do with it's published photos on it's web site.  The room was dirty and poorly maintained, The service was poor and unfriendly. We ordered breakfast for 7:00 am. Dining room was closed - the girl serving breakfast didn't wake up.  very unpleasant experiance
