I just spent a night there earlier this week. The lodge itself is beautiful. The receptionist was overly friendly (alcohol smell) and since I was the only one staying they they gave me the best room. I was told, the lodge is usually closed Mondays for renovations, which did not make sense to me. Nice view, beautiful setup, good furniture, big shower...

The linen is synthetic, unfortunately. 

I was told, they will call in the chef who is remarkable and actually on leave but he makes steaks like never heard of from the best butcher in the area. 
A short while later some elderly lady and what seemed her husband came into my room with the menu. I told them I would come down to the restaurant as it seemed beautiful to eat there. 
They both then were standing a bit helpless around my table when I ordered. They had never heard of a Rock Shandy before which is a very popular drink in South Africa. They then both were searching the fridges to find out, what they actually could offer me. They seemed to not have done that before. They were even struggling with the difference between Windhoek Lager and Windhoek Draft. The steak then came with a handful of chips. No greens, no veggies as that would have cost me the chips. It was edible but nothing to be remembered. 

The most interesting was the next morning. Nobody was around. I had made clear what time I needed some breakfast and when I will be picked up. Eventually, I just helped myself in the kitchen. Although clean, I had not seen such an unorganized place before. The cutlery just thrown into drawers, pots, pans, and kitchen tools have no system but I did find some lonely long-life milk in the fridge and a tea bag in a box. 

After I then called the number for the lodge from Google just for the security code to get out, eventually the same couple appeared to make me some fruits and some instant cappuccino for which I didn't have much time anymore. 

In short, beautiful place, staff and food, not the greatest, and synthetic linen is a no-go for me. 


Beautiful Lodge but no service

A serene retreat from the city, with a guest-focused team, service and atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my 2-night stay at Ndlovu Lodge.

Papa G and Ms Ruby, together with Emmanuel and T'Alicia made my stay enjoyable, challenging themselves in the kitchen to come up with delectable and well-presented meals. House-keeping was non-intrusive. The garden and swimming pools are well-maintained. 

The kind of place to return over and over again for a restful retreat away from the city. 

Serene retreat from the city

Due to covid, we could not travel for our honeymoon and my brother booked us in at Ndlovu as a wedding gift. We had the best treatment we have ever had in our lives. The staff and ownwers treated us like we were family. The service was amazing, the room was beautiful. The food was incredible. Ndlovu is a hidden gem. Our stay was beyond our imagination. I'd recommend Ndlovu to anyone and everyone!!!

Honeymoon

One of the best meals I have ever had. Lovely place, great atmosphere, best service and food. What a lovely evening. Very professional staff. Excellent service. We come here regularly and enjoy every time. 

Best In Pretoria

Spent a night here to get away from the city life. Not much to do, but not the reason why we went. Very nice and clean facilities with landscaped gardens. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Restaurant was fantastic with amazing food. Would definitely reccomend. 

Excellent

Great location: countryside yet 20 minutes from city. 
Fantastic ambience: rustic yet elegant building, great deco and interior, mesmerizing colors, beautiful and meticulously maintained garden. 
Service is excellent: personable and professional, including kind attention by Maria, the owner. 
The restaurant is great: fine dining at affordable price. Food was overall good: some items excellent; presentation first class. Drinks very well made. 
Accommodation is rustic, yet stylish and comfortable with great views. 
Overall a great experience.

Amazing!

What a beautiful lodge to spend a night! We were warmly welcomed by Vincent who remembers names very well and assisted with getting luggage to our rooms. Maria was friendly and very hands on. Our room was on the 2nd floor with a beautiful view over the valley. We noticed the lack of rails & hooks in the bathroom and were told that it was newly renovated and they were waiting for their order. Our bathroom was much better than our friends next door, great upgrade! Breakfast was lovely but very slow to come out. All in all a beautiful,clean and friendly establishment!
