The Sable House was exceptionally good. We were offered the leopard room which is a small apartment with beautiful interior furniture (kitchen, emboja wood, tiles, large fridge, two tvs, two bedrooms & bathrooms). Originally we had booked the Elephant room (which doesn't have ensuite bathroom). The owners were also very accommodating with check in and check out.  About 600m from the house is a beautiful dam with a restaurant with good quality food for  affordable prices (e.g. 12 queen prawns with sides for R160). Last, but not least, the house is situated amidst a small game reserve, so we saw a herd of kudo on the way. It was a lovely stay and we will be back.

Lovely weekend getaway from Joburg

We were there in training camp. And we had a great time in and around the sable house. Nearby there is a very nice restaurant, a swimming pool and beach volleyball court.
It was a very warm pleasant atmosphere. We got to know nice very helpful people. I would especially like to thank the always cheerful "Küchenfeen". 
We are happy to come back.

DON'T STAY HERE... The management of Sable House are extremely rude and arrogant.  They have little to no regard for their clients comfort or privacy.  After THEY offered us a reduced rate and stated that they would accommodate all 44 of us as 4 per unit, they messed up our booking, refused to acknowledge their error, blamed us for their mix-up and then expected us to thank them for the unsuitable "plan" they made to "rectify" the situation by squeezing up to 8 people into one unit meaning people were sleeping in the living area.  They were hostile for the entire 12 days we were there.  They moved us from pillar to post multiple times during our 12 day stay and didn't care that what we were supposed to be accommodated in was not suitable.  They had other guests moving into our unit BEFORE WE HAD MOVED OUT and told us it was our fault for not moving quicker even though we has said the accommodations they wanted us to move into was not suitable.  They then expected us to move into the new unit before the other people had moved out and when we complained we were informed that the REAL guests were their priority. The management have no idea how to treat guests and I would NEVER EVER recommend them to anyone as it was the most stressful and horrible 12 days I've ever had to live through.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE Stay

15 minutes from Gaiutrain Hatfield, I was driven into a beautiful estate Sable Hills, on my way to my room at the Sable House Country Retreat. I saw a buck and was told there was more game. When I got off the car, I was greeted with the sweet smell of umhlonyane (african herb), fresh and natural scents.

The hotel/guesthouse is affordable, spacious and quiet. I needed to get away for a short while and a friend booked me into this lovely place. I loved every moment there. The rooms are modern and clean. The restaurant's serves tasty food at very low prices, the alcohol is affordable too. There is a large olympic size pool, water features for children, and a DAM... Yeah a dam for lovely boat trips. I enjoyed my stay there, the cleaning staff was friendly and so were the people serving at the restaurant. I cant wait to visit again. 

Highly recommended, if one needs to get away from the city hustle to reconnect and recharge.

Brilliant, home from home in amazing setting.Private friendly staff,great facilities available nearby swimming pool gym restaraunt overlooking dam.Stunning spacious self catering rooms with a Braai.Good hearty breakfast see you soon.
