We booked and paid the full amount for our accommodation in advance for five grownups before leaving from the Cape to attend a wedding ceremony in Modimole for the night of the 20th to the 21st of October 2018.

We trusted their advertisement that stated:

OUR EXPERIENCE:

1. On arrival, we found that the terrain was shabby and totally neglected.
2. The premises around the office were in a reasonable condition, but we had to look around for someone to book us in, as the office wasn't manned.
3. A very young man (looked like the gardener) arrived and tried to book us in.
4. He couldn't find any record of the full payment that we’ve made in advance.
5. His main worry was that we haven't paid our deposit. There was no record that such a payment was ever made.
6. We had to convince him that we actually did pay the full amount in advance, not just a deposit, by showing him our proof of payment in the form of an electronic transfer dated May 14th, 2018.
7. He eventually took us to our chalet, where we found the following:
(i) The room was furnished with only the barest essentials. 
(ii) All the cutlery and crockery were old and shabby, with only the barest items in stock.
(iii) The rooms were clean, but shabby - nothing better than a third rate school hostel.
(iv) Some of the mattresses were thin and in such a poor state that nobody would be able to sleep on them in comfort.
(v) On pulling back the shabby bed covers, we found that the sheets were old, worn through, and some even had holes in them. [The young man immediately offered to replace the mattresses and sheets].
(vi) On opening the fridge, we were hit in the face with such a strong, repulsive and sickening stench that we had to close it immediately, or flee out of the door to prevent puking.
(vii) No provision was made for facilities to make tea or coffee, and there was no drinking water or any refreshments to welcome us on arrival. 
(viii) There were big, unkempt dogs all around us - the dogs were friendly, but a nuisance.

8. We then refused to stay in such accommodation. The young man pleaded for us to stay, but we refused. 
9. He then offered to call the lady in charge, (who was nowhere to be seen at the time,) to come and talk to us.
10. We waited a while before she eventually arrived.  
11. She smelled strongly of alcohol, but offered us their "Luxury Suite" instead of the chalet.
12. The 'Luxury Suite" looked slightly better, but not much so, but --- THERE WERE MOUSE/RAT DROPPINGS ALL OVER THE MAT AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE UNIT,
13. We insisted on refunding our money, as we were not prepared to stay in rat-infested accommodation under those conditions.
14. The lady said she couldn't repay us immediately, as she had to contact the directors of Linga-Longa for permission to do so.
15. My wife contacted her about the repayment a week later without success.
16. My wife then asked for the details of the directors of Linga-Longa, which the lady refused to give. 
17. She was very rude, but promised to take the matter up with the Directors for their approval. My wife then confirmed our complaints by sending an email, requesting a refund, as we had to find other accommodation. 
18. We waited another six weeks, but there was no reaction.
19. I then phoned the lady myself, found her to be very rude again.
20. She informed me that the Directors decided not to refund us, as it is their policy. 

THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE THAT I AND MY WHOLE FAMILY EVER ENCOUNTERED OVER A PERIOD OF THREE QUARTERS OF A CENTURY, TRAVELLING THE WORLD BUT ALSO STAYING IN MANY LOCAL GUESTHOUSES AS WELL.

WITH THESE 20 ITEMS OF EXPERIENCE, THERE IS NO WAY THAT WE WILL EVER CONSIDER STAYING IN ANY OF LINGA-LONGA'S FACILITIES EVER AGAIN.

Never ever again! in a Linga-Longa Guest Farm after our experience in Bela Bela.

Terrible, got there had to look for someone to book me in, then fill out paper work that basically said that, if something happens to me Linga Longa  is NOT responsible. Went to the room no fan or DSTV only open view TV....  I then went for supper ordered a 500gm rump steak medium rare, when it was brought to me in a plastic tray, put down on the table for me to remove the plate and and sauces. Started eating my steak was well done in a frying pan why i know this, is that you could see no grill marks on the meat and a plate full of oil and not once was I asked if the food was ok. From the time I was there the manageress was busy on her phone, the whole time either chatting or probably on WhatsApp. Thank you for your non hospitality, as a businessman traveling All over the country, this is probably the worst place I have ever been too.
