An old house overlooking the valley. Very stylish. Our room was very spacious with an ensuite full bathroom. Very clean and well looked after. Beautiful view from the stoep. Nice and quite. Continental breakfast included. No TV in room which is a blessing. Nice lounge with bar and TV.  Well done Herr Arthur und danke schőnne. Will come again.

Mist in the valley

We are 3 couples from Germany and had a very excellent stay at the lodge. Clean rooms, a great breakfast with fresh fruits and the best coffee in South Africa. Alfred is a best host with good tips for restaurants and sight seeing. it was a perfect beginning to our visit to South africa and we will come back to valley view lodge in Sabie for traveling the panorama route.

Best stay on your trip von Jo`burg to Kruger National park

The first thing that I noticed was the run down entrance to the property, with a shabby gate.  Secondly the all pervading smell of cigarette smoke everywhere.  Dark and shabby and unwelcoming.  Tired.  One bench to sit on round the pool, the cleanliness of which was dubious.  Cracked toilet basin in the bathroom.

The view is average by South African standards.  A great disappointment and probably the worst place we have stayed in South Africa ever. Did not appreciate our host without a shirt. We also left without breakfast.

The pool was dirty with no where to sit,  The chairs in the sitting area under the patio, were occupied with people all smoking cigarette and pipes.  The lounge was also the owners lounge with his things lying around including his shirt which he took off and threw over the back of a chair.  We chose to leave without eating breakfast.

We don't recommend this B&B

The lodge appears to be a youth and brothel place. The pictures are deceiving, we had to ask for a refund. Many of the people we found the are young and seems to use the place mainly for casual sex. The rooms are smelly

Looks are deceiving

We booked at Valley View Guest house for 3 nights but had to short live our stay due to a number of reasons. When my husband googled the place before we made a reservation, it looked stunning with lush gardens but to our surprise when we arrived the whole place looked like a haunted house. The garden was unkept. No TV in the room. The dining room area was full of dust. Seeing this filth my husband and I decided  we were not going to have breakfast there. We discussed with the caretaker/owner (who is a one man show with no helpers) but he insisted that we still pay for the 3 days.  To avoid commotion we paid the entire breakfast amount. The place is not what you see on the pictures. The water falls depicted there are not even close by. I must give credit though for the bed. their bed was very comfortable although the bedding was not as clean. There is no ventilation in the room since one cannot open the windows for fear of the monkeys. The fan installed there does not do a good job either. After my husband made a reservation, the caretaker/owner kept calling him to push him into making a deposit asap insisting that there were other people also on the waiting list. The push should have been a trigger to us that there was something fishy.
