In March/April, we spent a wonderful holiday in South Africa. We wanted to visit the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Chobe Park in Botswana, as well as spend a few days in Cape Town, so we looked for a central accommodation in the greater Johannesburg area. Our arrival at the Ikhamanzi B&B at Almut and Derick proved to be a strange coincidence. It is really just as described in many other reviews.

A case of luck

Ikhamanzi is very professional and with a lot of love guided to the wonderful details of generosity. You feel at ease right away. For us it was the third time at the beginning of a SA trip and we will surely come back. Alone Almuts Bobotie is a sensation. Do not miss to order beforehand. Very delicious. We can definitely recommend Ikhamanzi.

Best start or end of a trip to South Africa

This accommodation is located in the countryside not far from JNB Airport. It is run by Almut and her husband and we immediately felt very comfortable. The accommodation is typically African in style and if you know and like country life, it's right here. We were provided with homemade food and had a nice barbecue evening with specially prepared salads. When we woke up early in the morning, we sat down on the porch with a cup of tea and watched the weaving pool wake up.

The time in Ikhamanzi was wonderful. The apartments are lovingly decorated and very individual. The host family was extremely caring and the food tasted great. Overall, a perfect place to relax near Johannesburg for a few days.

We like to come here again and again. We use this accommodation as a starting point for our round trip. It's very clean, the breakfast is rich. It's just a great accommodation that I would love to recommend.

A great place to start a round trip

Ideal as the start or end point of a SA trip, about an hour's drive from the airport. After the long flight for us a perfect start to the holiday. Quiet, beautiful view of farmland, nicely furnished and well equipped, breakfast above. And all this is very personally guided by generosity. We will definitely consider it again on our next trip.

A wonderful B&B near the airport.

It was the second time after three years that we were here, and it was like you'd never been away. It's beautiful. In the rooms, at the meals, there are always so many loving details. We were able to have a very delicious meal again and spend a very cozy barbecue night with the family. For us it was the perfect start of a great journey. After the long flight, arriving very lovingly and relaxed. We will definitely be back. Thank you very much for your generosity and Derek and my good greetings to South Africa

Ikhamanzi is a MUST for those who land at Oliver Tambo and embark on a trip! Relax, enjoy while sorting final minor details, before you leave... which you don´t want to do because stayinig at Ikhamanzi is already a highlight, due to great hospitaliy, professional care and warmhearted special attention! Almut and Derick are of the best hosts we have ever met! Don´t forget to plan at least one more night at Ikhamanzi before leaving SA!

for all the tripadvisor friends over seas and in South Africa come and visit this B/B Definitely one of the best places to stay. nice and peaceful surroundings but close enough to the Vaal river and its facilities. close to vaaldam . close to suikerbosrand nature reserve. beautiful accommodation and great breakfast. we stayed in the Maluti room great view  beautiful furnished great spa bath to relax in.  The owner go out of their way to help you. the best place to relax and enjoy the country . nice lapa to braai or just relax next to the fire.

We came as guests a few years ago and now we always go as friends. This warmth and atmosphere of comfort is unique. We like the environment very much, because before the big trip you can easily shop for food and other things in a small or even a larger mall. You can also start a trip to Joburg or elsewhere. Almhy is a great conversation partner and also very interested in the well-being of her guests. Since she has a lot of African experience, you can also pick one or the other from her perfectly. Breakfast and a high standard. If you want to pick up the start of the evening well, this is the right place. We would like to come back again and again.
