In my opinion, this guest house is one of the finest and most beautiful places where I spent the most beautiful times of my life, its location directly on one of the most beautiful beaches, the temperate climate of the area, security and tranquility, high-end service and proximity to Durban International Airport, shopping centers, entertainment and wildlife, all made this house to be our favorite place to spend our holiday in South Africa. 

Fantastic place

Luxury accommodation right on the beach. With 8 en-suite bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and a large living area - including bar and enclosed terrace - the house is very comfortable even for a big group and when the weather is better suited to indoor entertainment. Highly recommended! And we hope to return! 

Best of Southbroom!

A beautifully appointed guest house with lovely rooms and great breakfast. Relaxed space in homely environment. Owners are most welcoming and very passionate about their business. Good location in Southbroom, quick drive to main beach and restaurants 

Relaxing break

My wife and I, with 3 other couples, booked a night at White Shores in July 2016. We were asked to pay a R2450 deposit up front which we did. The day before our visit I received a call from "The manageress" (joke) to say Southbroom had experienced terrible storms causing considerable damage resulting in both electrical and water disruptions!  She suggested we postpone our visit to a later date. I explained we were 4 couples and rescheduling to suit all may be difficult.
I agreed however and suggested she hold onto our deposit until the rescheduled visit. 
Yesterday, some 6 months later, after repeated failed attempts at rescheduling, I called the manageress to request a refund of our deposit until we successfully reschedule. What followed was extremely unprofessional! She denied phoning to suggest we postpone our visit and said we had no right to our deposit as they cannot be held responsible for the weather!! After reminding her of the sequence of events she acknowledged phoning me but claimed she did so out of the "kindness of her heart" and denied they were experiencing interruptions in power and water supply! When I objected, she became irritable and handed me over to her husband, who, in spite of knowing nothing of what had transpired, refused to listen to my explanation and repeatedly suggested I contact the owners to discuss the non refundable deposit policy!! I've since been led to believe the owners are family anyway!! 
I regret not reading Trip Advisor Reviews  before booking! Now, instead of a rescheduled visit, we will stay somewhere else and all 4 couples will have nothing good to say about White Shores and it's extremely unprofessional management.

White Shores Poor Management

I am so extremely disappointed with our stay as i know the guesthouse location and recommended it to my party as a great location. The owner's made us feel as if we were there as a free favour. They refused to accommodate us for the 1 extra service they offer in breakfast. We like to get active before 730am and asked if they could leave us toasted sandwiches for our return which was flat out denied and told either we there or we miss out. This is not guest house hospitality. They treated us like we were school kids and when we refused to pay R36 for a beer they offered to buy for us they told us we were trying to rip them off by telling them we would pay what they had paid and even added the fuel it cost to drive 2kms upon their demand. The lady running the house is a rude woman who should be no where near a hotel type business. My suggestion is to close your doors to the public and enjoy the beautiful location you are stuffing up for all the guests who want to visit that amazing area. You old lady are the worst business owner i have ever met. I will actively defer anyone from your guesthouse.

Terrible hospitality

I really wish I'd read the reviews before booking this, considering all the options there. From the moment we arrived, we were told the "rules." treated like children, even though we're almost all in our 40's. They told us that an early or late breakfast, or pre packed, was not done, so either you were there between 7h30 and 8h45, or leave it. They asked what drinks we preferred, as there was nothing in their bar. We told them beer and cider. THEY MADE US PAY THEIR PRICES AND TAKE THE LEFTOVER BOTTLES HOME ON SUNDAY! (Apologies for the bold the, but I've never seen sucH a joke in my life) You can also see the facilities in serious need of maintenance, cracked walls, damp ceilings, very dank and dark. We tried on the first night to change the DSTV channels as there are no remotes left for guests, next morning found the decoder cupboard locked and chained. I've never been so happy to leave a place in my life. I wonder if I could institute legal action and force them to drop the "guest house" from their name, as they clearly do not want guests. There were so many other incidents that echo exactly the other bad reviews, so it wasn't just us, or the way we maybe rubbed up the ld couple, seems that's how they operate. Clearly hospitality industry isn't for them.

Appalling Management, NOT a guest house.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.  The property was very nice and the views from our room were spectacular.  The grounds are very beaufiful and the service was excellent.  The breakfasts were wonderful.  The only downside was that internet was not available in the room.  You could only connect in the lounge.
