Geysers and hot water is a major problem. Cleaning of rooms was a problem. We got robbed on our last night, def inside information and forced entry. 

Wooden cabins are terrible with no cupboards. We booked 95% of the lodge over peak time for 40 days middle 2020, none of the cabins or rooms were ready on arrival. The Lapa area doesn’t have decent facilities, no basin. 

Not recommended various reasons 

We had a fantastic visit to Antlers Lodge in late December.  It was lovely to arrive at the property and so peaceful to be removed from the crazy holiday crowds. The grounds are in excellent shape and the pool was a welcome relief from the heat at the end of the day.   The little cottage we stayed in was perfect for the two of us with all the necessities of kettle, fridge, wine glasses etc. and the decor is a cool "bush camp" feel.  We found it to be excellent value.  The owners, Doug and Vanessa, were attentive to our needs during our stay.  We would definitely go back.

Great Value, Location and Unique Spaces

Oh my gosh where to start... so first of all we arrived at the property on a Thursday morning at about 12:00 and guess what, not a soul in sight!!!! Literally no one was there. There was a contact number at the outside empty reception desk which we called and a lady answered when i told her we arrived to check in she seemed as if she had no idea what i was talking about, secondly she told me to hold so i spoke to a man assuming its her husband and all i was told is that oh they are gone for a couple of days but i can check in with their housekeeping attendant which wasn't a problem for me but how are you a host and you not even there?? I had to shout the ladies name across the place in order for her to come out and assist us with checking in.. i told her shouldn't i pay the rest of the money as this was the message from the owner that i can pay with her and she said no i can do that in the morning or saturday when the owners return from their holiday away.. So before i even start giving a review about the room i have to say that Jolene (the housekeeper) is very lovely and very friendly, we realized we were the only guests on the whole farm and after reading some of the reviews i can imagine why.. it will teach me next time to read reviews  first before booking... About the room: We walked in and what seemed really lovely was an epic disaster... The carpets was dirty and didn't look like it was vacuumed, the glasses and cups in the room was also dirty and guest what? No dishwashing cloth  to wash or dishwashing towel to dry the items, you have to wash the dishes in the same basin as you would wash your face and brush your teeth, there was no bucket given. there is no two plate stove so everything is being expected to make it on the braai facility with only one tiny pan. the cups are chipped and the shelves was dirty!!! There was a cupboard in front of the mirror we were supposed to use not sure who came up with that ideas to put a cupboard in front of a mirror and to put the cherry on the cake there was two huge spiders behind the bathroom door, one of them still being very much alive !!! there was a lot of spiderwebs on the grass roof ceiling and in general a lot of bugs... the dirtiness and spiders creeped me out so much that i wanted to leave on my first night already , i literally started crying cause something that was supposed to be a fantastic breakaway turned into something disastrous. They have a beautiful outside area with a deck where guests can enjoy themselves and guess what?? its loaded with bird poop everywhere... its beyond such a shame that this places is not receiving the TLC that it so badly needs , i really wish the owner took better care of this place as it could be such a beautiful place. And lastly when we checked out we told the owners about the spiders and all we were told is well this is Africa !! i don't find this acceptable at all.. this is no excuse for the place to stay dirty!! They are really going to have to pull up their socks

Shockingly Dissapointing

STAY AWAY! Dirty room with dirty dishes and dirty shower. Black floor , full of mosquitos and other insects inside the big unmaintained room. 
The host over priced us (only saw later he is offering the same room for 150 R less than he charged us), he definitely knew why to ask the money upfront (first time it happened to us ) 
So not worth it ... much nicer places along the road...

Dirtiest place we have ever stayed

We visited the venue as a stay-over for a wedding close by. Unfortunately the facilities were not up to expectation.
No coffee in the room. No milk in the room. This was supplied after bringing it to their attention. The following morning, when we wanted to make coffee, we realised there was no kettle? This was also later supplied.
Only one teaspoon was supplied and no dishwashing cloths?

The room and facilities was clean and despite the above, enjoyed the stay. Due to the lack of goodies as described above, I cannot recommend the place.

Disappointed

This place could be excellent if not for the owner's total lack of care of their resident's.
It all looked great upon arrival, and the beds were comfortable, but..... the rooms were not really as clean as you'd hope. The floors were filthy, and when I wiped a cloth over them, it came up black. When we had used the towels for a few days, I put them on the base of the shower basin floor to indicate that they were dirty and needed replacing. But nope, they were hanged back onto the towel rail for further use! 
The cleaning staff were lovely though, they were trying to make the best of a pretty bad situation. One washing machine to clean all bedding, a fairly knackered area to air and dry the clothes, and nothing worked in the kitchenette. In-fact, everything was fairly knackered overall.
The owner's were way to busy getting smashed in their outdoor area, which was quite close to our room. They did not care about the noise levels, and even some of their personal guests came and asked my teenager son if he had any cigarettes on him! 
I wouldn't stay there again, which is a pity as it's location is lovely. 
They have ducks and geese running about too - beware, the geese are not friendly!
One plus - the pool was nice.

Such a shame.....

Great location, fantastic views and set amongst some lovely gardens. 

And that’s the best bit. The rooms had never been cleaned the floors filthy. The kitchen was stocked with a toaster that never worked a microwave that shorted out if used and a collection of random kitchen utensils collected from hard rubbish days.

I wanted to discuss with the owners but they spent most of the time smashed on the veranda, uninterested in the guests. We had to hunt down staff to even get toilet paper and towels. 

The baboons enjoyed themselves rifling through the bins that where left uncovered and full. On the rare occasion the owners ventured past their front room. We where told it’s their land, we have taken it over. Fair point, but then take precautions. Like making your bins secure and not encouraging the animals to return for a free feed every morning. 

With young children running around and hungry baboons, not a good mix. 

This place could be sensational but I can’t see it happening. Really disappointed. 

Do yourself a favour and book at another spot.
