Brilliant Safari weekend we had, the hotel staff was amazing, the hotel excellent, the views from the Villa are breathtaking. Overall a weekend my partner and I will always keep dear to our hearts. Wow wow wow

An exception safari weekend

This is the best experience of lots of amazing experiences we have had. It was a bucket list experience for my wife so a lot to live up to, however, not only did it meet our expectations it certainly went above and beyond. From arriving at Clifftop we were met by Steven and Gilda very charming welcoming and friendly the perfect start, despite arriving late due to hold ups we were treated to a game drive and what a start, our guide was fantastic, knowledgable and professional, we saw 3 of the big 5, Rhino, Buffalo and  even though a glimpse the elusive Leopard. On our return our cases were in our room and what a location the room was fantastic, it had spectacular views of the valley.
After a long drive out to Welgevonden and a Game drive we were treated to the most amazing dinner attended by the friendly genuine entertaining staff, who were on hand all through our stay, so praise must go to Nicholas, Patrick, Isaac and the rest of the team for making every meal special.

The morning game drives started at 6am so bleary eyed we were met by Tyrone for our first and all subsequent drives, in line with everything at Clifftops Tyrone epitomised the professional nature, joy and desire to ensure we had an unforgettable experience, this he managed to fulfil with his knowledge and skills, he went out of his way to make sure we saw everything possible, nature being what it is we didn’t expect to be treated to so many different awe inspiring moments from Rhinos on the road blocking our way, to sunrises and sunsets full of amazing colours to Lions hunting Warthogs and a herd of Elephant that appeared to come out of nowhere along with coffee and sundowners in the bush. Thank you all at Clifftops for making it absolutely memorable.

Our amazing experience at Clifftops

What and exceptional place! The location is breathtaking, room was immaculately clean and stocked with everything we could possibly need. The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived; nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel superbly relaxed. Sello definitely went the extra mile to look after us (especially with the birthday cake!).
Game drives were wonderful, made even more so by Migella who, as well as being a first rate authority on game, bird life and the bush, was magnificently entertaining and engaging.
The food and refreshments were plentiful and of a very high standard.
Having visited many game reserves, lodges and safaris, this is right up there with the very best.

Well done guys and thank you! We will be back.

Second to none!

This place is exceptional! From the minute we arrived we felt completely relaxed and in heaven. The attention to small details is amazing. The view from the lodge is exquisite, and our room was gorgeous (inside and out). You get the feeling immediately of being away from society and just being surrounded by the bush. The staff is amazing and so friendly. The food was great. And the game drives were a wonderful experience, from the animals, coffee and drink stops in the bush (the snacks on the drive were amazing) and our guide (Tyron) were really informative. Best holiday destination. 

Romantic holiday in the bush

This was our first but not last safari. The location, safaris, accommodation and service was excellent. Its location made it an easy drive from Tambo Airport and every effort was made by the staff to make the experience special.

AMAZING

We have just returned from a glorious two day stay at Clifftop Safari Lodge in die Welgevonden Game Reserve. We were blown away by the magnificent unspoilt landscape and abundant wildlife. Checking the ratings and comments by some guests we were hesitant to choose Clifftop, but despite this, the gallery photos and the setting made us take the plunge and boy oh boy, wasn’t it absolutely magic! The wonderful staff at the lodge, Thebugu (hostess), Thapelo & Patrick (waiters), Caroline (Spa) and our knowledgeable guide Jeandré contributed to an amazing experience that will ensure our return to this wonderful piece of heaven. The chalets are spacious and well equipped, set far apart to ensure privacy, peace and quiet. We just loved the dinner settings at night, each night at a different spot and truly romantic. Cuisine was outstanding despite what some reviews had to say. Welgevonden Game Reserve is an amazing place, one of the best reserves we have visited and getting there from Johannesburg is quick and easy as the roads are in good condition and safe. We left super satisfied and will most definitely be back as soon as possible. Thank you Nolan and staff for an enjoyable stay. 



A WATERBERG GEM

We spent 4 nights at Clifftop to kick off our honeymoon and they set the bar seriously high for the rest of our trip! From the moment we arrived and were greeted with a warm welcome and a cold drink/refreshing flannel we knew this place knew how to look after you.

The location is obviously beautiful, but it's the stylish accommodation/interiors, wonderful staff, relaxing atmosphere and abundance of great food that make Clifftop truly special. Hospitality wise, this is easily the best place we've ever stayed. 

On top of this, our safari experience exceeded all expectations. It was our first safari so we have nothing to compare it too, but we couldn't believe how much we saw. We weren't just getting a fleeting glimpse of the big 5, we were having super intimate encounters with lions, elephants, giraffes and rhinos on a daily basis. Our guide said we had a great few days so perhaps we were very luck, but we really had an unforgettable experience. 

The safari experience is further enhanced by warm blankets, fresh coffees and pastries in the morning and beautiful sunsets, tasty snacks and ice cold drinks in the afternoons - all organised by your amazing guide. 

All in all, we couldn't recommend Clifftop enough!

I read quite a few negative reviews re the food before we went, but I couldn’t disagree more! I thought all the food was exceptional. 

The rooms were wonderful - great pillows and mattress.

Overall an absolute treat!!! We will be back.

Wonderful stay!

Clifftop is special. Everything from the accommodation to food and attention from the staff is first class. We have visited many safari lodges in Africa and would put this very high on our favourites. What made this visit really outstanding was our ranger, Dillan. His exceptional knowledge and so easy way of imparting relevant information about both the animals we saw and our surroundings kept us riveted.  We would love to think we can go back for another visit.
