The most recent one here on TA is apparently from November 2017, so I'd like to add a kind of update.

My wife and I stayed in a "Deluxe Double" room, during a weekend staycation with her side of the family in early April.

I'm with all the top tiers of IHG, Marriott, and Hilton, and I can say that this place is still quite good for what it is, or at least 'decent'.

The overall look and feel are both a bit dated. The hotel looks like it may be better located in the 1980's or maybe 1990's. However, the hotel is very clean. :-)

The cleanliness of the hotel extends into the bedrooms, which are comfortable. The walls are surprisingly able to keep out noises from adjacent rooms.

Our room faced the parking lot but we didn't care. The screen door was great and there was a small balcony in case you needed fresh air. The bed itself was not very mattress-like but rather felt hard. (Nonetheless, I did have a very nice night's sleep.) The refrigerator was very cold and contained a couple free bottles of water. Coffee mix (i.e. a small packet containing both instant coffee and creamer) and tea bags were both provided in the room, with a kettle. No Nespresso machines here.

The bathroom is also dated, but nice enough for a 1-2 night stay. Towels, handsoap, shampoo, and body wash were all provided. The shower booth is spacious for one, no matter your size. The toilet comes with an electronic bidet. The only disappointment was that our toilet didn't flush when we checked out, but anyways it didn't affect our 1-night stay and so it doesn't figure into the final score I'll give.

There's a 7-11 just a 30-seconds-walk away from the front door, which is convenient if you want some cold simple breakfast foods instead of the Korean breakfast set served by the hotel in the mornings. We had dinner in the restaurant the night before check-out, and the food was fine. I'm American. We got the mushroom salad, the Margherita pizza, the mushroom truffle risotto, and the fried pork donkatsu, and it was all very tasty.

We paid 150k KRW for our room (incl. tax) in April and I'd have no problem paying that again if I were back in this district. It's likely true that this is the best hotel in the area.

Definitely OK for a 1-2 night stay

Stayed two nights on a Korea Revisit Tour visiting former battlefields along the DMZ in the Cheoron area. Staff very helpful and excellent breakfast buffet with a lot of variety. Dinner, good to very good. Room clean, very nice and quiet. Did not have a room overlooking the river--tip request a room with this view. Was told one of the best hotels in the area.

Nice Hotel, Great Views of the River

They had very unique scenery in the hotel including beautiful valley and Hantan river. The river was the place that people enjoy rafting. Also we could enjoy playing golf with hotel package program.

Hotel and room is pretty but spa facility not as good. The shower head of the spa was very difficult to use even for an adult and almost impossible for a child to handle by him or herself. Only has used soap bar, no liquid soap or shampoo. However the toilet and wash area in hotel room is clean and nice.

Has English speaking staff and are helpful. About 5-10 mins walk, there are some small eating and coffee places. Convenient store about 15-20 mins walk way.

Beautiful hotel and room but disappointing spa

We booked a room for friends. We got the best room the hotel offered and it was amazing. It was big with mutiple rooms and beds wonderfully decorated with fully equipped kitchen and amazing view of river. It even had small bar to sit. The sound of river was the lullaby and awoken by the singing birds.
They gave us free tickets to the spa and spa itself was nice. (But recommand it to people who have already been to Korean style public bath)
When we lived near the Hotel, they had restaurant (four star vegetarian restaurant in my point of view) but the place kept on opening and closing but not sure what they are selling now but just a step outside the restaurant there is a balcony where you can watch the Hantan river_ probably the best place to over look the gorge.

Amazing

This hotel is not a luxurious one, so if you expect high level service, I don't recommend you to stay here.
But room is clean and good enouh for most of you, I guess it's around 3~4stars' grade.
There is a cafe on the first floor, and if you go outside to terrace you'll be surprised because of the fabulous view of Hantan river.
Come to Chulwon and enjoy yourself with Rafting, Trekking, or anything else famous in Chulwon, then stay here for a few days.
You'll be satisfied with this fabulous province, Gangwondo, especially Chulwongun.
