Our tour agent selected H1 Palace Hotel to stay 3 nights  on our first group tour to Seoul as this resort is one of a few that has a golf course. 
The G4Fun group played our second golf game at High One CC. This is a championship course, the venue for the KLPGA annual event. The fairway is not the typical fairway as part of a few fairways has long grass.
The hotel is one of the more popular ski resorts. The rooms are spacious.
There is a regular bus shuttle service to mountain ski house,casino hotel,water world,Gohan station and nearby condominiums. The casino is probably the most crowded one in S Korea as this is the only one in Korea open to locals.
There is also a cable car station that gave a commanding view. The cable car station start from hotel to ski mountain.
The breakfast spread is adequate but not plentiful. The buffet spread  is more Korean bias than international.
The golfers also use the same restaurant for the halfway break meals.
Recommend this place to stay as number one choice for ski enthusiasts as the resort has more than ski activities.



MORE THAN SKI RESORT

I woke up at the high1 palace hotel found out I mistakenly took somebody else’s luggage and since I spoke no Korean I could only ask the hotel for help and luckily all the staffs at the front desk was so helpful specially the front desk manager Bo-young Kim. She called every possible number,  came up to the room to see if inside the luggage had any contact detail. At the end she got it done. After I exchanged suitcases back I wanted to show my appreciation and left a tip at the reception for Miss Kim. When I came back to the room I found under the door a letter , some candies, with the tip I gave miss Kim returned inside the letter which Miss Kim wrote and also a letter from Kim saying it was her job to help me and she was happy she could get it done and wish me a great stay in Korea.

I’ve stayed at probably around 30 hotels so far in my life and I’ve never seen someone as eager to help as Miss Kim and not even asking/accepting for any return and this really touched my heart.

The most responsive staff

Front office staff speak little English but they try their best to help. If you have a bit of time to spare, take the free gondola to the top of the mountain. A scenic 15 min ride (one way).  Room is spacious, hotel breakfast is good.

Helpful staff

First of all, I PAID to make an international call to make a reservation yet the only english speaker was rude, dismissive, and NEVER sent the email with information he said he would send. His english was also terrible. Because of this, I wasn't able to get a room at the resort and had to rent an airbnb far away.

Then we get there anyways and I accidentally misplace my ticket and ask to get another one, then the ticket vendors say it is against their policy to issue replacement tickets because people could sneak in other people. Who am I going to sneak in?! I'm a foreigner! Who would I know in Korea?!

This place is cheap, but don't bother spending a dime on this place. The location is difficult to get to if you aren't traveling with people who know korean.

Rude customer service and impossible to ski

It’s been a pleasant stay and it cost me some trouble getting there as their website isn’t very thorough. At least, from where I came from. l as I was already downtown Seoul. Get yourself a TMoney card to use the subways frequently. Take the subway to Cheongnyangni station. There, exit the subway gates and take the elevator up to level 3. You’re in the station hall of Korail or KTX as they call it. Go to the counter and buy a train ticket to either Sabuk station or Gohan, depending on the hotel you’re staying at. I stayed in Kanwongland 1 and took the Sabuk station even though I got a ticket to Gohan. It’s a bit closer. Trains run frequently so no need to make a reservation. Trains didn’t have a catering of some sort so bring something as the ride will take about 3,5 hours. From there you’d better take a taxi since the free shuttle bus station is hard to find if you have never been. 

Kangwonland is a posh hotel or supposed to be. Breakfast will cost W35.000 and dinner around W85.000. Both buffet style. There’s a casino, FOC and a sauna and swimming pool at a charge of W10.000. As well a bath house for total relaxation if the rest is as well. The bathhouse is naked only and separate boys n girls. The shuttle bus goes to the slopes as well where you’ll find a small supermarket and a few basic restaurants. 

Here’s how to get there l

It's our family's first time to try skiing & snowboarding in South Korea. The High One Resort is part of the Kangwon Land. We stayed at High One Grand Hotel & were very happy with the spacious rooms & toilet & bath. The breakfast buffet spread was very satisfying but it's open until 10 am only so sleeping in was not an option lest you miss your breakfast buffet. There's a free shuttle every 15 to 20 minutes going to & from the ski area. There are ski & snowboard equipment rentals but you have to rent them in a daily basis unlike in other ski resorts we've tried where they have different packages so you can rent the equipments for 2 to 5 days. The snow slopes were artificial but they were well-maintained. We also enjoyed watching the fireworks display on Dec. 30 & 31 from the big picture window of our room. And the best part of it all, there was free wifi anywhere we go so my husband was able to monitor our office anywhere inside the resort & the hotel. All in all we enjoyed our winter holiday

Winter Holiday

Choose this ski resort only because it's the only resort operate ski till late March. The booking of the condo is a mess and it does not allow online booking and the whole booking procedures is through email and yet basically they don't reply email! So i'd to make countless of oversea calls to the resort and they will again asked me to send email to them. Eventually i'd to get my local ground tour agent to check with the resort for my booking.
The resort, the resort is big but not much choice of eateries. But good thing is that you could actually order delivery to your condo, there's a whole booklet of delivery service available for your to choose from (but provided you could converse in simple Korean language to place order)
The room, we stayed in 3 bedrooms unit and the condo is big and clean
The ski, we went in March and no crowd but also no free ski lesson for foreigner as mentioned in their webpage. But as it's the end of the ski season, the fee and charges is relatively cheap

An average ski resort

I was there with a tour group. It’s summer and the skiing ground was turned into a golf course. There wasn’t many people due to the season, therefore it feels very spacious. The rooms are clean, good breakfast, and helpful staff.
