Guarda was a convenient stop for us as we hiked from Ancorda to Mougas.  The breakfast left a lot to be desired, but there was a nice restaurant that was only a couple hundred feet away for after hike refreshments.  The hostel is located on a nice cove that  is good for walking barefoot on the beach.  This hostel was 'good enough' and it helped that it was on the outskirts of town allowing us to divide our hike up a bit.  Because it is so close to Ancorda, we took the long way around the peninsula finding some true treasures and meeting some very nice people who just wanted to talk about stuff.

The hostel was full of other Camino Hikers, many who came in well after we did and left well before.

I would not stay here if it weren't for the convenience on the hike.  We slept just fine though and the shower was great.

An easy stop on the Camino

The staff is friendly, the beds were fine, the room was very basic and with old furniture, it was fine for sleeping. Breakfast was included but the door was locked and it was difficult to access. In the morning there was no staff available, and the guests had no key to the door. The location next to a beach is great and the view from the general balcony was awesome.

Great view - very basic facilities

I stayed here for 4 nights to begin with, moving on to Caminha in Portugal, but loved it so much that I came back for another 3 nights.  I enjoy experiencing the ‘real’ Spain and sometimes that means foregoing luxury in favour of genuine hospitality. The location is fantastic, right on a beautiful small beach. It’s about 1km from the town centre, but there are two very nice restaurants nearby if you don’t want to walk in.  The rooms are basic, with a small en suite bathroom. Quiet and clean. The hosts are very helpful and a pleasure to stay with.  Good wifi.  

I had a lovely stay and hope to be back soon!

Loved it!

It’s a very basic hostel located right on the Camino Portuguese. I booked  a room here with a fellow pilgrim hoping to get a good night of sleep but it was NOT a clean place. I almost felt like sleeping with my clothes on. 

The shower was mediocre but at least it has hot water. The only good thing about this place was the nice little private beach at the front. They offered free breakfast (very basic) but that was ok.

I would not stay here again but for the cheap price it’s not so bad for a pilgrim on a strict budget. 

Extremely basic

Stayed for one night whilst walking Camino Costa from Porto. The setting could not be better right on the sea with a beautiful small sandy beach out off you room window. With a very nice resturant and bar next door. Note it closes early on Sundays !!
No refinements in room such as soap of a glass in bathroom. Great value and ok for a stop over.

Very basic stop over

Stayed here while my son and I were on the Camino Portugues da costa. Lovely host who even took us to Monte Santa Tecla and did our washing for free!  When you're a pilgrim, those kind of little gestures mean a lot. Thank you Rafi for a wonderful rest day on our Camino!
