We only had a one night stay here but when we were leaving It was like leaving home.
The road to and from the Casa are interesting but once found you are given a warm and generous welcome The rooms are spacious and have good showers.
There is no restaurant as such but along with another couple from Spain we shared dinner with the owners in their kitchen we could wonder the grounds and local walks you are free to come and go as you please.
Breakfast was also with the family and the nice thing was that the Spanish guests contributed to making sure we had all we needed, It really was like one big family. 
Even the dogs Lara and Molly seemed to want us to stay and we have promised to return.

Not so much a guest as part of the family

We only stayed for one night as we were heading north to Asturias. The owners, as well as their daughter couldn't have been nicer. They are the finest example of Spanish warm and hospitality. Impeccable. Clean. The grounds and location are breathtaking. I highly recommend. 

Breathtaking. 

We ( 2 couples ) booked online about 1 hour before we actually arrived. The welcome could not have been better. We were greeted like family by the owner & her daughter. This house is in a beautiful place, surrounded by trees. So peaceful except for the sound of the stream running by.Its beautifully restored & furnished to a very high standard. 
Despite arriving so late & last minute we were able to have a delicious homemade meal in the very cosy kitchen, which is also where we enjoyed breakfast, with freshly squeezed orange juice & huge bowls of coffee.
Great value, great setting & truly, genuine, lovely people.

Wonderful place..

Somewhere near Lugo is the amazing Casa do Fidalgo. Amazing because it would hold its own in any country, not just Galicia or in Spain. What makes the Casa do Fidalgo, a country mas or farmhouse spectacular is the building itself, the setting and the people, Adelina, Matthias and Montse who are like the family you dreamt you have but sadly, you do not. 
The spot is next to a river in the mountains, making it very romantic as well as the perfect place to unwind or runaway from the paparazzi. I am serious! First off, one needs a little GPS or the directions written down to find. Once you do, I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful this place is as I was so surprised. The rooms have all been redone and they have falt screen tv, wifi as well as spa-like showers with more nozzles than one would judge reasonable. Breakfast in the kitchen is such an amazing experience and the staff does everything to make one feel at home. A little ham and fresh juice makes one feel so pampered. 
 It really was a farmhouse and the owners are there to describe the history and changes. Period elements are left in while it has all the modern comforts one desires. The quiet is unbelievable! The forest mists up in the afternoon and the atmosphere is very much like northern California. Along the river, you cannot help but relax. I know suggesting people to travel to Lugo is a bit much but if you are anywhere near, consider Casa do Fidalgo for Galician hospitality that cannot be beat.
