A very clean and quiet hostel. The dinner was fine and for dessert, main course and dessert and wine and water seems to me to be the price of 10€. It has a phenomenal living room and at night when you go out, you will have the good sound of nature. I would recommend it to other pilgrims. In total, I paid ~25€ for dinner, bed, cafe and water for the road.

A very nice hostel and with good beds, it is a very good option if you want to take two normal stages and not a very long one and after a few trips to Santander that total are 15 km, you can have dinner, right and is so far away from civilization that you can spend a very quiet afternoon, which doesn't go wrong.

Pleasant and pleasant.

Along with the Portugalete hostel, this is one of the best we've found during our part of the Camino del Norte (Irún-Santander).The treatment by the three people who manage the hostel was excellent, they treated us super well, they helped us in everything they could and they advised us very well on the next step.The house is clean and has everything a pilgrim may need, including the contact of a physician who would travel there in case of need.

A very cozy hostel.

Very bad organization!!! Room changes from day to day, supposed impossibility of putting a group of 4 people in the same room when it was later shown that it would have been possible because there were enough empty beds left in the rooms to assemble the whole group, people arriving at 4.5, 6,... from the morning screaming and singing inside the rooms, groups dedicated to unlocking foreign walkers before the gaze of one of the owners without any attention, disorder,...and all for the modic price of 30 euros a night.

Ideal for those who want to wake up with murderous instincts and want to make a journey along the trail.

How lucky I was to stay in this hostel. Precious, bright and very clean. I loved the dinner, freshly made and with products from their own garden. The very comfortable rooms. Surrounded by nature where only the birds can be heard, it invites you to disconnect and relax mind, body and soul.

A very nice albergue on the camino. And the owner is very nice guy! The first time we had such a good explination about the camino! Really worth for a night! The dinner is nice and the garden is relaxing after a long day walk! 

Buon Camino

Unfortunately we should stop at this place because my knees gave up to move me that day to Güemes. The albergue is in the middle of nowhere, there is nothing around but some birds and cows. The woman was nice at the reception, when we arrived. The building itself is actually a nicely renovated old one with 2 dormitories, 2 bathrooms, huge common area but without a possibility to use the kitchen. In a bathroom there are 2 showers next to each other and a toilet, this way it can be used just a single person or a couple at the same time.. We didnt have food for this day so we ordered the dinner for 10 EUR. We were very hungry as the pilgrims normally. The dinner arrived..water with potatoe and some pumpkin as a cream soup without a concreat taste, and rice with frozen green beans and carrots as a paella.. one of my neighbourgh noted at the table that we are eating water..Although I am hungarian I perfectly know how a paella should taste and what it should contain..but on the plate there was something different. The portions were very small compared to my hunger, and I stayed hungry after the dinner. We started to talk with all other pilgrims who arrived and I realized that the cook continues preparing food. After us the cook and the receptionist woman started to eat - home made fried potato, fish and a big plate of the same vegetables our paella missed so much..First of all I would like to suggest to the owner doing the camino from Irun to his place in order to be experienced the amount of hunger a pilgrim has. I think that most of the guests are pilgrims, so this way he can have a benefit to change the menu or the price..or both.. Thankyou!

Overpriced unbalanced food sharing

The place looks nice..That is out of question. It is very clean too..But, as an Albergue for Pilgrims they are taking advantage with the most sacred..The food, and this is vital for the pilgrim. In Northern Spain, you eat amazingly normally with a 10€  Menu. Or for a pilgrim, the places in each village or city do their best to to offer the pilgrim the best. BUT, in the Albergue de Meruelo, they didn't get the concept. A watery pumpkin soup as a first dish, a "Paella" that according to my partner would need to be renamed..No fish or seafood whatsoever..Maybe they escaped knowing the pilgrims were coming and as a desert..A cheap yogurt from a discount supermarket. If you are in the Camino, towards Guemes, hold on and continue..Or if you have to stay here, enjoy the place that is nice enough, but don't throw your money away with their food..It is very sad that some people are considering Albergues de Peregrinos as a business taking advantage of somethimg as important as the food.Vital element for pilgrims...Simply avoid the place if possible..
