We had the most amazing nights because of our waiter Victor from Casa Cosco.  We are outside in a square and a beautiful night it’s about 75° and a tiny little breeze it’s beautiful the ambience is wonderful they have a two piece band playing music in the Square people are happy the food was absolutely to die for and Victor service was top notch. I wish I could give them 10 stars but I guess five is the most

To eat a marvelous "cocido maragato". Very good service. Very good food. It's a very nice place to go, if you are near Leon, you have to came here. Pueblo Castillo de los Polvazares very typical, maintains small houses like they were built, remember the roman mark in Spain.

We stayed here for 2 nights and were disappointed that the quality of the room was sub-standard.

We had a family room which was very dark and hardly any space to move around - we did have the option for 2 rooms but thought if they offer a family room it should be ok. The shower door leaked when using it so there was an enormous puddle when getting out. The beds were not comfortable and it has been a while since I saw plastic sheets on top of the mattress. Maybe there were some bed-wetting episodes in the past.

Castrillo de los Polvazares is a kind of museum town, not many people live there and when the tourists leave the place is deserted - nothing to do. Driving to the restaurant  is not much fun as roads are paved for tractors and one feels that the authenticity is one step too far.

We were unlucky that the evening we wanted to eat at the restaurant it was closed so cannot comment on the cooking. Breakfast was the usual Spanish toasted bread, some jam, coffee and orange juice.

If they renovate the rooms this place has potential but at the moment it looks like they are concentrating on the restaurant.

The rooms need to be refurbished

Our room was very pretty, and staff were very helpful. We would return for a short stay. You need a car as the village is tiny and there are no shops. During the afternoon the restaurants all close and we had to go to Astorga just to buy water. I would recommend the restaurants Cocido Maragato, yum. Breakfast was also very good, a set meal of toast, jam, fresh orange juice and coffee.

Pretty

This is the second time that tee have stayed here and both times we have been impressed by the quality of the meals and the excellence of the staff! It is a small hostel which is set in a beautifully renovated village on the Camino de Santiago which is a lovely centre for many outdoor activities but also is well situated for any tourist! You can be sure of a lovely welcome and a pleasant stay here.
