Avoid this place like the plague! Ok, it might be very well located, but it is extremely FILTHY (normally, I do choose hostels when I travel, so I don't mind essential/simple accommodation options). The rooms are AWFUL and so dirty, I just had to keep my shoes on at all times because the floor was covered in hair and dirt. Also, the NOISE: I had to buy earplugs because the noise at night was unbearable (never had this problem in my entire life - I'm what you can describe as a heavy sleeper!) as we were made to sleep right behind the reception and there were people coming and going all night! But, worst of all, I got a terrible rash all over my face and neck due to BED BUGS I caught at the place - I could barely open my eyes as my face was so swollen. And this completely ruined my entire stay in BCN. Plus, the staff is very unhelpful and they barely speak English. It's NOT WORTH IT! Steer clear of this place.


FILTHY AND WITH BED BUGS

Let me start with the only good thing about this hostel - location. 1 min walk to the Central Cathedral which is great. 

Now let's move on to the "tea". First off, they didn't respond to our email about early arrival so we had to find a place to stay at 4 am. The receptionist offered us a room for 30 euros which was available (the original room cost 45 euros per night) and it was trash. I couldn't believe people would pay money for it, it was so bad, I wish I took photos. It was a small, dirty, old, smelly box homeless people would live in. 

Of course, we couldn't stay there so we went back to the receptionist, which was kinda hard to talk to because of his English. After a long argument, he offered us a better room than the previous one, but still, it wasn't great, it shouldn't cost the money we paid.

The sheets were not clean, the bad cover was all dotted with weird-looking spots and we didn't even have blankets or towels in our room, we had to ask for them. The only towels we had were on the floor soaking in the water from the rain that got into the room. 

Luckily, we had a shower in our room, because it would've been a nightmare to take a shower in the shared bathroom, it was disgusting. 

The internet is another story - it didn't exist for a few days until our 4th or 5th request to do something with the wifi router. 

Overall, I would not recommend staying at the Rembrandt hostel obviously, it would be better for you to use Airbnb and get a great apartment for a cheaper or the same price.

Not a pleasant experience, whatsoever.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. The staff is more than unfriendly. The room is hard to describe. It is a BOX with a window which you cannot open because it opens on the space where the other rooms have access, so you have to sleep with a closed window.  There is no air, so hot in the room, UNBEARABLE. NO air conditioning.  Only an old fan which is so noisy that it seemed to sleep at the airport.  But the WORST thing is an absolute DIRTINESS of the bed!!! It was too late for us to leave this horrible place and look for another one, we had to sleep WITHOUT TAKING OFF OUR CLOTHES. DO avoid this hotel at any cost. It is really a SHAME to keep hotel in such a miserable condition.

HORRIBLE place, AVOID at any cost!!!! Dirty!!!

In the heart of Barcelona I found this little inexpensive frendly hostel. 2 minutes wak to the Rambla of Bacelona and  in the center of the gothic citypart.  My room small simple , clean, with good wifi, quiet and  comfortable, The  guy from india in the lobby very formal and helpful  but would not kill him to smile  a little to make the customer more welcome. I highly recommend  this hotel to  any traveller of Bacelona.

Much like the 1977 action thriller starring Nicolas Cage it had much potential, but unfortunately this potential quite literally dripped down my forehead in a form of sweat due to the total lack of air con. Much like the Hollywood flick this hostel was about as pleasant as what I can only imagine a fortnight in Guantanamo Bay would be like (but with better air con and showers). This was more like a dried up low budget loosely sprung ending episode of Hollyoakes than a well put together feature film. 

As you walk up it's sodden stairs the heat begins to sweep through like a badly packaged sandwich, and the bathrooms wouldn't look out of place in a SAW film, although they were also so backwards and old it would have had to be a 1970s prequel to the horror franchise for it to even be used.

I'd imagine even the lowest of paupers would stick their nose up to this truly awful sleep shack and believe you me i'm certainly no Mr Rich, Ive been known to eat raw mince when push comes to shove. Never do I want to even dream about being in this prison/refugee camp ever again.

Con Air!

We stayed for 5 nights at the end of April in a double bed, with ensuite. We used it for sleeping only, so perfectly adequate. A kettle for coffee making was the only thing that we really could have done with in the room. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean (very powerful shower!). It was a bit of a trek up all the stairs after a long days walking around Barcelona though! Don't stay here if you want a TV, or any luxury but if you want somewhere to crash this is perfect. Location couldn't be better - the ramblas is 30 sec to the right and the gothic quarter is a minutes walk to the right. If you fancy an afternoon drink, the camel a few doors down leads up to a good bar.
