The two-room Casa Maru lies at the end of an extremely tortuous road in the small village of  Camarmena in the "Picos de Europa" park. It is a most convenient starting point for diverse trails, as well as a very pleasant place to return to in the evening. Nothing I can write here will adequately describe the magnificence of the surrounding scenery, at the midst of which Casa Maru is a unique gem. The rooms are very comfortable, breakfast in front of the scenery is excellent, and Jhousy is a perfect host, abundant with information and travel advice. Upon request, she will also prepare a delicious dinner. An unforgettable place.

A unique B&B in an amazing location

So, I was super excited about this trip. 
Details: 
The house: two rooms. We got the bigger one. Problem: as a couple the bathroom and bedroom are not separated. So think zero privacy. Would not go there as friends for the same reason. Maybe ok for a single person. 

I have to say I felt like an intruder in the house. It’s hard to feel at home when the owners make it feel like their home. 

Tip: do not do laundry there. Despite quoting a cost, they charged 3x as much, then destroyed a lot of clothes which we didn’t notice as we didn’t check until we left. (I’m talking. Pants. Bras. Shirts. Also we had an onward journey so had to deal with the wrinkles and destroyed clothing). 

Breakfast -okay. But full disclosure I’m not a breakfast person, so I’m not a good judge. 

Pros: very close to sights. If you rent the whole house, privacy. 

Overall, would not stay there again and probably if asked would recommend somewhere else. 

Not so great. 

We were in awe after staying at Casa Maru for a few days while hiking in the Picos de Europa. Even without a traditional spa department (the whole place felt like a rural, mountain mini spa), we felt rejuvenated and thoroughly relaxed after staying among the mountain peaks in the Rural room. 
Every little detail was perfect, and the breakfast was probably the best of everything. Alberto asked us of any allergies on our first night in order to prepare the best possible breakfast for us. When telling him about being pregnant, he went out of his way to find out what I could and couldn’t eat, and the next morning we were presented with the most amazing breakfast accompanied by the most spectacular view. All kinds of Spanish goodies for my husband, and wonderful, safe options for me. During our two week trip in Spain, this was the only time I could really enjoy the entire breakfast, which was amazing before a long day of hiking. 
I want to quote the webpage of Casa Maru, because the place couldn’t be described better: easy to love, hard to leave. 
The place was a little over our regular travel budget, but definitely worth it - we would go again in a heartbeat. 

A spa for body and mind

Probably the most amazing hotel I’ve ever been to. It is small and beautiful and incredibly precious.
The views from the two rooms are quite breathtaking, but just wait until you see breakfast!!!
The owners Jhosi and Alberto make you feel part of the family. They speak perfect English and are obviously very proud of the service they offer. Rightly so - it is spectacular. 
If you enjoy walking, you will be in heaven but absolutely everyone would love this charming, memorable place and the wonderful people there.

 view from the terras with the bulnes de naranja in sight. Very friendly and helpful owners who are always to help you out. We love it over there.

Heaven on earth...

This is an amazing small luxury bnb in an incredible location in the heart of Picos De Europa national park, perfect as a base for doing some amazing treks and hikes. The whole place has been given a fantastic, contemporary renovation, with very comfortable bedrooms. We loved the view of the mountains from the bedroom and the outdoor terrace. However, what set this place apart was the incredibly warm and attentive hospitality from the owners Alberto and Johsi who speak excellent English and Spanish and made our time there perfect. They really did think of everything to make our stay there as comfortable as possible. The breakfast is probably the best we've had in any hotel, with real high quality and variety - think organic muesli, local artisan meats and cheeses, fresh fruits etc. We also had an exquisite home-cooked dinner there one night which, as with everything else, we wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend.

Incredible small luxury bnb in the heart of the mountains 

Wow. This place is amazing. It is a small two bed hotel but the views are out of this world. Josie is the best hostess and made our stay even more unforgettable. The area is breath taking and so many amazing walks without driving. The little restaurant close to the hotel is very friendly; I loved the owners there and their hospitality as well. But the highlight was our dinner at Casa Maru organise by Josie. We are defo going to go back next year with some friends and hopefully take over the place for a few days. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Location, location, location

On a wonderful Spring day during the Easter break, we had a  solid typical Asturian meal, tortos and other good stuff. Very satisfying, the view could not be better (but the road there is not for the faint hearted) and the service friendly and competent. It made for a perfect afternoon.

Wuthering heights

This is one of the best small luxury places that we have enjoyed.  The location was magnificent, the hosts (Jhousy & Alberto) exceptional, the property superbly renovated, designed & styled with the best fittings, the food wonderful, and a 30 minute walk to the Garanta del Cares and the funicullar.  Casa Maru far exceeded our expectations and was the most spectacular and best value for money on our visit to northern Spain.  We highly recommend booking dinner at Casa Maru with a predinner gin and tonic prepared by Alberto.
