The cafe staff here have a serious attitude problem and tunnel vision.  It's impossible to catch their attention. They pretend not to notice you.  
The unsmiling waitress brought our friend's drink then ran off as soon as she could just as we arrived. She didn't bother to ask us what we might want to drink and ignored our plaintive efforts to attract her attention as she excocetted for the door.

On another occasion my wife asked the guy who looked like the cafe manager for help with directions to the visitor centre out of town. He started his vague dismissive reply with "You've been here 3 days and you don't know where it is?

The last time we had a drink at the place there was a mix up with the order, the waiter brought only two of the drinks and one of those was wrong.  I tried to attract the guy's attention but as usual it was impossible. I ended up leaving the table to go and speak to him. Calmly and in a neutral way I hasten to add. He just stood there looking down his nose contemptuously and saying "I don't understand you". I don't think my Spanish is that bad, having lived here a few years. I couldn't help thinking he was pretending that he couldn't understand me just for some strange power trip thing.  Even if my Spanish was unintelligible he could have been more amenable and helpful but maybe that's an alien concept in the Horibel Café. 
Our experience with the Hostal was mixed. Our room smelt of pond water and the towels were a bit grubby. We mentioned this and the two ladies on reception, who were pleasant and helpful, gave us a nice room on the top floor (with clean towels).

We found the Hostal Longinos El Aribel to have excellent WiFi, be spotlessly clean, with a large bedroom, large bathroom, and comfortable bed (the pillows could use an upgrade but they are ok). The price was excellent, and woman at the front desk very friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend! (The restaurant here and from what I can tell, in Cercedilla more generally, are not so great though so you might want to make the 10 minute drive to Navacerrada--maybe they are better there).

We stayed one night in this hostal. It’s simple but the room (202) was quite big. Functional bathroom but it seemed old. Beds are nice, not as hard as we usually encounter in Spain. 
The only big disadvantage is that it’s noisy. We could hear the upstairs neighbor very well so we didn’t sleep well and therefore checked out the next day instead of staying another night as we planned.

A comfortable and clean en suite  room in a hostal next to the rail station from where the small train leaves  to Cotos in the Sierra de Guadarrama. Ideal for walkers. Sound proofing is not that good otherwise would be excellent.
