We haven't had the opportunity, the owner cancelled the booking contradicting what is published in his offer on the rental portals he works with, so if you booked assurances of what the conditions are as they are not the same as the booking, which you are lucky, I wouldn't trust me after my experience.

It's not what it looks like, so be careful.

We have spent several days in the Casona de Valfrío booking the entire hotel for twelve people. It has overwhelmingly met our expectations. The rooms are fantastic, especially the Junior suites for their size and views but the others are also very pretty and are decorated with great taste. Rest is guaranteed! María José and David are some great hosts who serve without burden. The breakfasts and have been unbeatable. The casona is surrounded by a forest of beautiful fireplaces and near a river which allows excursions from the same hotel. Recommended, without any doubt and to repeat. La Comarca De la Vera deserves the pity and, from this hotel, is close to the best villages in the surrounding area.

A wonderful one!!

We arrived at this magnificent house by chance, but it was a pleasant surprise and we were delighted.The owners are super friendly and attentive, the room lacks super clean details and very well conditioned. They have a magnificent swimming pool surrounded by nature that you can relax if you like. And what about the breakfast was exquisite and very complete.

Do you want to relax? enjoy the silence, the tranquility, its swimming pool, its 4 hectares for walking, take a nap in the Balinese garden bed. Do you want to eat well? Enjoy the wide gastronomic offer of La Vera, the careful and exquisite dinners prepared with great care by David with homemade and local products or the delicious breakfast served by Gema, always pleasant and smiling. Do you want nature? Gargantas, rivers, rivers, lakes, lakes, etc. Do you want culture? Monasteries, Iglesias, Castillos, Pueblos. Do you want hospitality? José, David and Gema dominate the art of attending at all times without invading the romantic space.

Life has small places; this is one of them.

We were staying in a triple room, very spacious and cozy. The cabin has only 6 rooms, and does not admit children unless it is rented out in its entirety, which ensures total tranquility and quite silence as there are no people either. The wonderful swimming pool, just listening to the sound of the water, my sister almost stays to live there, jajaja. The breakfast is included, it is complete and delicious, natural orange juice, hot toast different every day, yogurt with cereals, coffee, and toast of various marmalades or olive oil. The dinner is optional only for the menu to choose from; it is also delicious made by the owner with products of the same or premium quality.

Relaxation and nature.

What a lovely hotel, everything is 5 star in an unique style. The grounds are so interesting , with hidden areas for peaceful time. There is an infinity swimming pool, modern and perfectly clean. Bedrooms so comfortable.
The breakfast was gourmet! 
I will definitely visit again.


Amazing find - best hotel in Spain 

Very charming hotel in the beautiful region of La Vera. This place is perfect to relax yourself within the nature of the national park of Monfrague, visiting high impact historical places as Monasterio de Yuste, Plasencia and Trujillo as well as enjoy the wonderful gardens and swimming pool from the hotel. Congratulation to Maria Jose and David, they are just great, also good traditional gastronomy not only in the hotel but in the region of La Vera.

Relaxing days in the country side

Very relaxing atmosphere, attention to detail, kindness and courtesy to repeat. Rustic style rooms, magazine pool.

It's lovely.

This place was immaculate, beautifully designed and cared for. It felt like the owners had really put thier hearts into it. The food was gourmet quality, we chose to have dinner as well as the breakfast there. Everything was very fresh. Our vegetarian meals were specially cooked for us. The setting is beautiful and grew on me the longer I was there. Beautiful walks in the countryside outside their gate. A very refreshing swimming pool. The owners were very sweet and gracious and made us feel very welcome and at home. It was also extremely good value for the quality. This has been my favouite place in Spain so far! 
One warning was the wifi was pretty slow and/or intermittent - do anything you really need to online before going - then blissfully forget about your devices for a while.

Nautre escape

The title should have mentioned the charming owners, who go out of their way to make your stay a success. The house is about 5km down a small lane from the town of Cuacos de Yuste, though if you're coming from the south east it is accessible if you're a good map reader and have a look at Google Earth before setting out, via the small village of Collado, which saves quite a few kilometers.
We stayed in a Junior Suite, a large room with wonderful views across the garden to the distant mountains. Being an old house, the room was cool despite the outside heat and we did not use the air conditioning.
The house has old style charm, with plenty of bric à brac around and a nice informal atmosphere, making one feel more like a visitor to rich friends than guests in a hotel.
Breakfast was very good, far better than in most country hotels in Spain. We had dinner both nights. The chef is creative but not pretentious, so the food was interesting, tasty and sufficient in quantity. Dining outside as night slowly falls and the stars start to twinkle was the perfect end to a perfect day. The local red wine, Habla del Silencio (from memory, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon) was nicely rounded and made the stars shine even brighter!
The hotel told us how to get to an old "roman road" as it is called locally (genuine or not, I cannot tell, but it looked authentic). The roman road was off a slightly bumpy but quite adequate track and wound down to an old bridge over a mountain stream, with trout, surrounded by woods. We went there on two days for picnics in the shade and only saw five other people in total, one of whom was a shepherd with a large herd of goats. So, if you live in a city or town and you're looking for a real out of the way escape from stress and noise, this is the place.
We will definitely be returning!
