This was our first visit to the Basque Country and staying here was such a wonderful experience.  The apartment was huge, with all the amenities we could ask for, including a sky light in the bathroom.  The view from our windows of the sea was just amazing.  It is a short ride to Deba for supplies, and also a short ride to Arroa for the train into Donostia-San Sebastian.  Our hostess was so helpful and gave us some great advice on places to visit.  The location is private, and quiet. Definitely would revisit.


Beautiful, huge apartment with gorgeous view of the sea

A lovely place with oodles of character tucked away in the hills outside of Deba, nearer Itziar.  It might be a little old-fashioned for some but we loved it.  
You need a car to get here.  
A warm welcome.  Comfortable, cool rooms.  Even without AC the stone walls provided a cool haven from the 40 degree heat we had at the time of visiting.  
Lovely outside seating spots with a few to the sea.  Very peaceful, just the sound of farm animals but thankfully no cockerel.  
Close to a wonderful geopark area and would be a great spot for hikers.  
Breakfast provided at a supplement of 5 euros if needed, homemade jams full of flavour, pastries, fruit cheese and meat.  Good coffee too.  
Otherwise use of the kitchen available and good size fridge storage. 
If you want to get away from it all or want a spot for hiking the north coastal paths in the area, this is a great choice. 

Hillside haven

We stayed here for 8 nights with 2 adults and our two little boys.

The place is nice and clean with comfortable beds and a good bathroom.  The kitchen equipment is basic.

It is very well located to visit the region of Gipuzkoa. Itziar (I hope I spell her name correctly) is friendly and always willing to help. 

Nice and friendly

We stayed at Txerturi Goikoa with friends from Madrid and had a wonderful time. The inn and grounds are beautiful and tranquil. We enjoyed eating dinner outside on the picnic table one night and made use of the kitchen our second night. Our host was very welcoming and helpful. As others have mentioned, the inn is close to the highway, but we did not find this to be a problem and actually made the location more convenient. Breakfast is mostly continental style with meat, cheese, bread and pastries. 

There are hiking trails nearby that lead down to the coast that were easy enough for the 10 and 11 year old in our group. The coast is breathtaking and well worth the hike! The trailhead to the coast starts at a nearby restaurant and camp ground. 

We would recommend this inn and location again. Everyone in our group enjoyed the stay!

Beautiful farm home, friendly host, hiking nearby

Pros:
- Comfortable bed
- Good room

Cons:
- Impossible to open windows because the house is VERY close to the central highway and the noise is unbearable. The windows are soundproof.
- The hostess is not friendly and is only interested in the process of billing.
- Poor and overpriced breakfast.
- The whole area is industrial and rather ugly, including the nearby town of Deba. Nothing to do around, nowhere to sit outside, no views whatsoever.

Overall, absolutely no reason to go there when on vacation. We should have chosen a better location and a better B&B.

Not friendly, not rural, too close to the big highway

Although it can be a little hard to find, it's a great country location. The place was nice and has great charm. We rented all the rooms out for our Basque family reunion. The kitchen was serviceable if a bit small for all of us. Being Basques, the women took over and banished the owners from the kitchen. They graciously let us have the run of the place.  My son made friends with their boy and ended up riding their horse. The outdoor dining area was wonderful. I spent many an hour sipping wine, talking with family, and enjoying the setting.

It's also a short hike to some wonderful ocean cliffs. The beaches of Deba are nearby and the food mecca of San Sebastian is half an hour away. If you love to eat and drink, don't miss it. All in all, one of the best weeks of my life.
