A lovely serene bed and breakfast on a lake where you can swim or kayak. Good breakfasts, cosy rooms. 3 kms up a steep windy road from the nearest beaches, cafes, restaurants so feels remote. Good for a quiet getaway.

Rural visit

The directions to this fantastic country hotel are very confusing and satnav doesn't work but in fact it is very easy to find.  From the Santiago de Compostela direction follow the coast road round to Ezaro village. After crossing the bridge over the bay, turn right following signs to Mirador Ezaro and the the Casa de Santa Uxia signs.  From Finisterre and A Corunna direction follow the coast road from Cee to Ezaro. At the bottom of the hill turn left following Mirador Ezaro signs as above.  This road is very steep but has spectacular views.

The beautifully renovated house is on the edge of a reservoir with beautiful views across the water from the rear bedrooms, which are a good size with exposed stonework and wooden floors.  Our large bathroom had a shower over the bath and a nice vanity unit with good storage.

Unfortunately the restaurant has closed and is now the breakfast room, but the hostess recommended Mar y Terra in Ezaro (see separate review)  which overlooks the bay and served excellent and good value seafood and plenty of other choices.

The Santa Uxia breakfast was the best we had on our tour of northern Spain, with lots of homemade delicacies including joghurt, bread, cake and pastries,changing daily, with a particularly memorable custard tart! There were also local meats and cheeses with salad and fresh fruit.  The cathedral window overlooking the lake made it even more enjoyable.

If you have a large car you may want to park in the access lane as there is a very sharp corner to negotiate into the parking area.

We only stayed 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer as there is so much to do in the area.  We will certainly return to this beautiful place which is so peaceful and well run.

Stunning view and wonderful breakfast

This is NOT a Camino friendly hotel. This hotel has hidden charges. Pick up point was at Hospital de Logoso as stated by Casa de Santa Uxia .This pick up will cost 15 euros,and the next morning another 15 euros back to pick up point.
Do not book a Wednesday as the restaurant is closed and this is a completely isolated hotel in a beautiful setting.
One is hungry after walking !!
It can take two hours for pick up to be facilitated if rendezvous time is not pre arranged. (Difficult when walking to get an exact ETA)
I thoroughly do not recommend this hotel as A Pilgrim's friendly hotel,given that all other hotels in the area that I have used are more than pleasant, and genuinely helpful offering free pick up service any time any place. 


The Camino Way to Finisterre 

This is an immaculate restored house on the edge of the reservoir. We were travelling in late September so no problem with mosquitos but perhaps a different story at other times. The rooms are delightful, although a little dark due to the dark wood furniture and small windows but all to a very high standard. The dinner was fine dining at its best, with the husband and wife team using their international experience to good effect. The bottle of rioja we had was superb. A very relaxing and charming place to stay.

A beautiful hotel

About the hotel: It is a unique place, rustic in character with touches of creative design, set in the most spectacular natural scenery, a few minutes away from the Ézaro Waterfall and Beach, half an hour from Fisterre and 90 mins from Santiago de Compostela. Silence, amazing views, peace and quiet is what you find here. Add to this the most friendly and hospitable hosts and cosy, clean and comfy rooms and ... you don't want to leave this place :) Whether you walk the Camino or travel around Galicia, come here.
