El Molar is perfectly placed for an overnight stop en route to Bilbao from southern Spain. Minutes from the main road, it offers a good variety of bars and restaurants for a night time wander.  We chose this hostal because we wanted a budget place without frills to have a good night's sleep. This is exactly what we got with v comfy beds (Ok yes they were twin but pushed together which was fine for us), a small but good shower and bathroom, and a cheerful  reception. The Wi-Fi didn't reach our room but this wasn't an issue for us as we have our own data and learned a long time ago that budget hotels rarely provide Wi-Fi in the rooms. The place was clean, warm and well functioning. We'll be back.

Good value, cheerful & exactly what we needed

We were very disappointed after paying for this room, we spent an hour in El Molar and asked ten people for directions but no one had heard of it,  shame they didn't have sign posts to their place, we were very tired and really wanted a room for the nights but had no choice but to continue to Madrid and find another hotel

Couldn't find the place

This was our second stay, we chose the hotel/hostal for its convienient access to motorway, in a small town. Quite a secure area really if you have a car and belongings in transit. Last year,  same month, frontage had pot plants outside which where handy to identify the entrance, its a slightly tricky find, just slightly behind the Town Hall on the main square. The receptionist spoke English, was very helpful in suggesting a selection of eateries etc. This time no pot plants, no English spoken, trouble with credit card payment, and although the guy was pleasant, he was a bit flustered and looked overworked! On both stays the room has been clean, and comfortable, albeit the rooms are small and the shower tiny! Main reason to stay here is convenience to motorway and price (about 40 euro per room) Not worth more than that. I would stay again at a push, its basic safe, inexpensive. Also WiFi iffy but thats the norm usually!

Gone down a little this past year

Stayed here on a two-night groupon deal in a double room. For what we paid it was a good deal. The room was quite small, but the bed was super comfortable, clean and modern. It also had a small fridge inside which was really handy. The wifi didn't work. The bathroom was very clean, though the shower was quite small. In the morning there was no hot water in the shower, but later the afternoon it was working again so not a massive problem for us. The family who owns it are really lovely, they stop and chat with you and do their best to make sure you're comfortable and have everything you need. The town itself, El Molar is a very small, cute little place and the people there are all very friendly. Not much to do, but its nice to do a drive around the surrounding towns and also visit the mountains.

Comfortable bed, great service

Stayed for one night while on way through Spain,this place is very clean and the rooms adequate,perhaps the shower could be a bit bigger but not an issue,their is no parking but the whole Area is very safe and secure with no threat to car,there is a very comfortable balcony area to chill and relax within the Hostel, the village of El Molar is very quaint and a little difficult to locate the Hostel, their are plenty of amenities around the Hostel within walking distance to wet or feed your appetite,I would recommend and would stay again with no hesitation

Simple but clean

This little place certainly opens up from the rather unimposing entrance! The rooms are very comfortable and pleasantly decorated, the only criticism is the size of the shower cubicles!
The staff are very welcoming and couldn't do more for guests.
