To say our time at Albella with Aragon Active was a memorable is an understatement. Live in owners and hosts, Lucy and Simon, laid on good old fashion Spanish country hospitality and attention to detail in keeping with the local setting. We were treated to exceptional food and home cooked treats from mostly in season and preserved home grown and locally sourced food supplies. All sittings trumping our mumma’s and nona’s family spreads. 
Our favourite culinary treat was the Albella salad roll for lunch. Enjoyed amidst the summer wildflowers surrounded by the striking landscape. Very Special.
The highlight of our time there was the daily excursions into some very special places in the Ordesa region. 
World heritage listed natural, cultural and landscapes beckoned us every day. Every daily excursion started off the night before with a good briefing, outlining the plans and of what to expect. All this underselling what was in store for us after short commutes through the mountain lowlands, historic small villages and rural settings to some very special places in the mountains. Our hosts  know their stuff and are passionate about their place in the Pyrenees. They combine their lifestyle and business in everything there and are so keen to share it all. 
A big shout out to the high-class local guides who led us on many of the days. So impressed with their depth of knowledge, presentation skills and their patience and ability to share all this with us. We got the natural history and geological stories of the mountains. We experienced their place and connection to the local community with the local history, good news conservation stories and current issues impacting the areas values. 
On each daily adventure there was flexibility in the itinerary for our small group, working around the conditions, shared interests and our expectations. On many occasions, ideas and alternative options were negotiated and plans adjusted on the run, whether it was adding a potential wildlife experience following recent sightings, extending a walk beyond the crowds for an alternative view or dropping into a local bar for a couple of beers on the way home. 
I’m confident that if our group all turned up keen with our mountain boots, crampons and binoculars our hosts and guides would have endeavored to get us above the snow line to find a new adventure with another Marmot or Chamois.

Our Ordesa experience.  Nature, Culture, History and Landscapes

This was a wonderful holiday with great wildlife experiences, fabulous food and a beautiful location. We were so well looked after and experienced a wide variety of birds, animals, butterflies, moths and plants. Walking on snow in the high Pyrenees was amazing. The guides who took us out and about were experts in their fields.

My partner and I booked the “ Guided Walks in the Spanish Pyrennes,”for June 2024. It exceeded our expectations in so many ways! The hosts, Lucy and Simon were so kind and hospitable and knew so much about the area. The accommodation was in a beautiful location and impressively renovated. The itinerary was thoughtfully put together, with amazing walks with stunning Pyrenean scenery. 
Our guides were very knowledgeable about the fauna, flora and geology of the region, even our pack lunches were excellent!

Pyrenean holiday adventure

What a wonderful week!  Lucy and Simon have created a rural idyll with their inspired renovation of Casa Allue - a true labour of love surrounded by stunning scenery.  The best of hosts, everything from the delicious meals to the comfortable bedrooms was spot on. And my fellow guests were great company too!
The walks exceeded my expectations ...so many WOW moments. Our guides were very knowledgeable and eager to share their love of the landscape and its wildlife, going out of their way to ensure we spotted some of the more elusive species . 
It's impossible not to fall in love with the Pyrenees. particularly when your hosts are Lucy and Simon. I am returning to Casa Allue next year to try my hand at snowshoeing, to marvel at the magic of the mountains clad in snow... and to eat some more of Simon's delicious dinners.

Paradise in the Pyrenees

I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Casa Allue. Simon & Lucy are excellent and interesting hosts and everything in their home is done to a very high standard. The setting is stunning, the food delicious and either home grown or locally sourced and rooms clean and very comfortable. Our wildlife guides were knowledgeable and enthusiastic and the variety of flora & fauna interspersed with scenic walks in and around the area made for a very special holiday.

Wonderful wildlife & walking holiday

I cannot commend this holiday highly enough.
Lucy and Simon were pleasant,friendly and excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The accommodation was comfortable in a characterful property and in an exquisite location.
The home-cooked food was plentiful and delicious.
The wildlife excursions were just right to both keep the expert informed and to enthrall the amateur.Lucy and Simon were themselves knowledgeable about the local fauna and flora and employed a variety of local experts to show us the best this beautiful part of Spain has to offer.
I have every intention to return.

Beautiful wildlife experience in the Spanish Pyrenees

This holiday was one of our best holidays ever. Lucy and Simon let us in to their life project, renovated house from 1650, with such a passion and full attention to any small detail. 
The house and the surrounding are beautiful. Rooms are supper comfortable and clean. 
The cooking lessons are great. I am experienced cook and still learnt a lot from Simon and Lucy as they have a lot of knowledge about Spanish cooking. 
The walking - the views are breath taking. On top of this we had full explanations from Lucy and their guide about the history, wild life, geologic etc.. The tour was adjusted easily and willingly by the hosts. 
The overall experience was really exaptational for all of us (we were 3 couples) as everything was organized perfectly and with precision.

A really wonderful week with a great combination of history, culture and walking in wonderful scenery. The accommodation is attractive and very comfortable and the food excellent. Simon and Lucy are enthusiastic, knowledgeable hosts making the area far more interesting than I had expected. They are really welcoming and work hard to ensure that everyone has a great time whatever their particular interest.

Culture and Astronomy in the Pyrenees

An excellent well organised week, with lots of variety. We went on lovely walks, learnt how to prepare Spanish food and saw very interesting places. The house was comfortable and the food outstanding. Our hosts worked hard to make it enjoyable and memorable.

Walking and cooking in the Pyrenees

I really enjoyed my Spanish course.
Lucy and Simon are wonderful hosts, they have converted their home to a very high standard, comfy beds, excellent shower and stunning views out to the Pyrenees. The food Simon prepared was wonderful- healthy, tasty  and locally sourced- a lot of it from his vegetable patch. The Spanish lessons were fun and varied, some in class room and some out in the local villages. We spoke Spanish within the group most of the day - and generally lapsed into English over dinner with a glass of wine in hand! I particularly enjoyed our excursions with Lucy - her knowledge and passion about the local culture and geology was infectious. A particular highlight was a short evening hike to a local village, examining the fossils and geology on route, then chatting in Spanish to local residents who showed us around their homes, church and community hall/school/blacksmiths. A unique  experience.
I feel this week has improved my Spanish, and my understanding of the local culture and geology.
