Went to the Barbacoa. Every night on my holiday. Breakfast was amazing also there main menu was very good. And the cocktail lounge at night time with Russell. Is just great so much fun he keeps everyone entertained.

Great atmosphere

After walking through an entire day of torrential rain storms, we arrived at this Albuerge/Pension.  We were greeted by the owner, (Fanny) and treated to a very clean, nicely decorate room with its own bath.  

We were provided a serve-it-yourself breakfast with a great assortment of cold (some prepackaged) foods, coffee and juice.   Fanny is friendly and professional, speaks excellent English  knows the best places to see and dine in town.   

The pension is a couple  blocks away from the old town center, and is in a quiet neighborhood.  There is a shortcut to get back on the Camino without backtracking through town.   

We were very pleased and would stay there again.

Well run and clean Albuerge

I pre-booked a room in advance as I'd been advised that the demand for accommodation from Sarria onwards increases exponentially so having cross-referenced what was available against various TripAdvisor reviews I picked Albergue Barbacoa because:
a) it received positive feedback from previous guests;
b) the price per double room (single occupancy) was very reasonable, certainly competitive with others nearby;
c) it was a short distance (<5 mins walk) from the main plaza/thoroughfare and conveniently situated for my onward journey in the morning.
On arrival this lunchtime I was really impressed by the warm welcome I received from the girls and by how clean and modern the property was inside. I was given a full tour before being shown to my room which was definitely the best I've had since arriving in Spain. There were 3 shared bathrooms to choose from (2 upstairs and 1 down) but all 3 were of a modern style and spotlessly clean. At the rear of the property is a fairly small but nevertheless adequately sized space/seating area with a BBQ, tables, chairs, a sink for washing clothes and lines/airers to dry them on and a perfect spot for soaking up the glorious sunshine! There's also access to a washing machine and dryer at €3 each (but still cheaper than being charged at some of the other albergues) A buffet style breakfast is available for €3 but again, on a par with others, and can be accessed between 0500 - 0930hrs which is good as it means that the pilgrim "larks" can get something before they leave as well. In summary - I rate Albergue Barbacoa highly (5/5). I wouldn't hesitate to book a room here again were I ever in this area again and would recommend it to other travellers visiting Sarria or even passing through the region. Very god start to the "home straight" of my Camino Frances. 👍👌😃

Best Camino choice so far

The pension was quite a distance from the train station and a hike up the hill; the good news is that it was very close to getting on the Camino. The owner was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was attractive, clean and was just what we wanted after a long day of traveling. Breakfast was simple - lots of carbs and fresh fruits for 5 euros per person. We met others walking the Camino and had a lively conversation before starting off.

Good Place to Stay

This place is just on the outskirts of the downtown area and it's perfect for staying. Me and my friend stayed here after a long day of walking on the Camino. The place was spacious and very clean, they have a kind staff, great beds and good showers and the next day you will be back on the road in just a few minutes. Perfect!
