Horrible! This hotel doesn't have any kind of convenience for guests. It doesn't even allow a bag entrance, because it's in construction all over the street in front of you. Lack of cleanliness, everything smelled bad! Completely horrible! The elevator practically doesn't work. Everything is very old. The worst place to stay that can exist. White bed linen that was completely yellow.

Let's see and read the reviews and I think they're out of place. We went one night and had a baby and were given a FREE cot. The room was really big and it didn't have air conditioning but it had a cool fan. And it was really cold. The bathroom was nice, and they left you gel and shampoo envelopes. And the TV is big (we came from a 4 star hotel and had a small TV compared to this one) It's next to Gibraltar and next to the plaza of the conception line. And it cleans the room and the bathroom. If you want luxury you go to a 4 or 5 star hotel but these comments that you read are very exaggerated.

It's too good to be a 1 star.

Took us a while to find it.  When we got into the room , had no idea when the floor last saw a mop.  So filthy you could write your name on the floor tiles.  Asked guy behind the desk to replace bulbs in bedside lamps , as they were not working.  He told me to contact Hotel Management.  Thank goodness we never asked for more toilet rolls !  We had to buy our own at local supermarket !    More like a Hostel than Hotel, which is in need of a heck of a lot of money spent on it.

Total Tip

This is not a hotel and certainly not for for families. The rooms were dirty. There’s no lift on the ground floor which left us carrying suitcases up the first flight of stairs. 
The system is unsafe where you have to leave your key at the tiny reception when you go out and then have to give your room number on return to get the key. Very unsafe and dirty.

Not for families

It's an obsolete structure, but the location is great for going to Gibraltar and visiting the city centre. It's definitely good for one night. You don't expect a three star. Nothing to say about the cleanliness, of course, it's all done by the structure.

Without praise

The hotel is very large, save for the excellent location very close to the Peñón.We had a very cold time, the hot water was almost non-existent and the cleanliness shone by its absence.The staff were very attentive.

Cold and humid.

Walking distance of Gibraltar, and central to the town centre.
Old building split over many floors, the lift annoyingly stops between floors, and is not easy with suitcases.
Rooms are small and basic, but adequate for a night, and prices are competitive for the area, staff friendly.

Central budget option

As it was off season the hotel seemed very quiet; but, there were other guests we rarely saw them.  The staff day and night were extremely friendly, helpful and polite.  The art deco feel to the hotel was a lovely added touch.  It's easy to find whether walking in about  minutes from the border or take a five minute taxi ride.  Extremely close to shops restaurants and the main centre of the town.  Our windows looked out on to the park across the road and you can see the rock in amongst the trees.  The only thing I would point out is if you have extreme mobility issues there is a lift; but, you have to climb a few stairs to get to it; but for most people extremely manageable.  There is a museum right across the road in the park.

Nice place to stay and introduce us to Spain

Stayed for 2 nights with two other friends. 

Positives:
-fast WiFi
-5 min walk from the border
-1 min walk from shops and restaurants
-towels were changed and room cleaned during those 2 days
-a young lady at reception was helpful, together with another man at reception who was very polite, we Google translated that we were cold at night and they brought us 2 heaters

Negatives:
-one of the receptionists didn't speak any English at all
-there was no vending matching, no tea, coffee, no kettle
-the light bulbs above our heads didn't work, there was only the main light in the room
-the street gets very noisy at night
-the window curtains were torn and scruffy
-the hotel itself could do with a bit of refurbishment
-shower curtain looked like it was never changed

All in all if you're looking for some basic for 2, 3 days - this is the place for you however there are much better places to stay at. This place has got a potential but needs a bit of an investment.

Average stay, perfect if you just need a roof over your head

... and that's about it. There are NO facilities at this hotel, no tea, no coffee, not even a vending machine. There was no hot water on the second and third night we stayed. TV didn't work and I got bitten to death by something (stayed at a different hotel on the fourth night, zero bites). A very thin kind of hospital blanket was on the bed. Some of the reviews say 'no frills' they are correct, there is absolutely nothing, you are paying for a ceiling. I'm not sure I would even want to drink the water. 

On a plus side, it's central and a 5 minute walk from the border. The star given is for Patrick, the night attendant who was very sweet and helpful. 

I wouldn't stay here again.
