Hemingway once stayed in this hotel and may be this was the last time any renovation took place in the hotel, or may be  some years later - sure it is an old hotel, dark furnished in old fashion way but has it's own charm due to super friendly and nice service. In September the room was a bit cold for us, but heating was delivered upon request. Bed is ok and everything is clean, bed sheets fine. Ok tv and wifi, ok bathroom. Good breakfast with eggs, yoghurt, bread, cheese, ham and very good coffee. Pricing is a bit high, but surroundings are beautiful. Hotel has good restaurant, 3 course menu with wine is very good value for 15 euros. Their cod is super.

Good option in relatively remote place

This feels more a hostal than hotel.  Or maybe 1 star hotel.  The rooms were spotless, the beds comfortable.  As often happened on our trip, our triple room was a twin with an extra bed, and so cramped.  No issues with the twin room and space.

Small amount of English spoken in reception and breakfast room (enough!), but we dealt mainly in Spanish.  Usual limited continental breakfast, but included in room rate, so no complaints, as there was lots of it.  Fried eggs were also available and much appreciated.  Good coffee.

Our cycles were kept securely locked in a  garage area, so fully marks for that!  Wifi was free, but poor to unusable in the room (excellent in reception and the living room).

More Basic Than The Building Looks, But Okay

We were looking for a green oasis. The hotel has tennis court, pools, swings... Dinner at the hotel was excellent (and plentiful) and the staff were super friendly. The via verde walking trail was a wonderful walk. Lots of sitting areas inside and out.

Very beautiful garden and surrounding hills

We stayed here for one night at the beginning of October, it felt a bit like The Shining! The hotel is a very grand beautiful old building , proud of the fact that Hemingway stayed there. After booking our room at reception we were taken across the road to the annexe, an equally impressive old building but absolutely dead, loads of old wooden floors but a deserted sub reception point, closed off restaurant and bar. Our room was really cold. We weren't really sure on the numbers of guests and because there isn't much else to do in the town of an evening decided to eat in the hotel. The meal was only 15 euros each including a bottle of wine but it wasn't really up to much, very stingy with the bread and we were in a huge dining room with only one other couple. Breakfast was disappointing, again only two couples, not even a croissant! just some bread and tired cheese. Overall it felt like we were staying somewhere that is dying on its feet, the area is lovely, we went cycling fro the nearby tourist office, fabulous cycle route along an old railway line, but we wished that after completing the cycle ride we had simply carried on into Pamplona
