Our room was a good size, quiet & comfortable, well furnished with nicely coordinated fabrics & colours. We were on the 3rd floor (lift), and overlooked the park.   The hostal is on a pedestrian street (part of the Camino de Santiago) leading to the Roman bridge and Parador. There are tables & chairs outside, a pleasant place to sit & watch the world go by.  It's an easy level walk past the Parador and on into town towards the shops, Museum & Cathedral.  Also only 10 mins walk from the station - the nicer route being along the river. 
The staff were extremely helpful, assisted when we had trouble connecting to the wifi, were happy to make us an "off the menu" cooked breakfast in the cafe/bar downstairs and generally made us feel welcome.

Excellent value for money

This July I stayed at hostal Quevedo in León. It's situated near a nice park and supermarkets/litte bars are just a few steps away. The centre of León is a 20 minute walk, so not that far. 
For little money you'll get a nice, spacious and clean room and bathroom (with a very nice shower). There is airco for the hot nights. And wifi and a television if you get bored of León - which I can't imagine.
The staff is really friendly for it was no problem that I stayed a night longer. And you could check out very early in the morning. The hostal is also wheelchair-friendly. 

Charming stay at hostal Quevedo

This hostel is just on the edge of Leon's historic center. In 15 minutes you can walk to the main Square.

 I paid 36 Euro for one night in a single room. The internet was fast and the room was perfect and clean.

Positioned well and priced correctly

We stayed here while walking the Camino. The people working were really nice! 

The first room we went into reeked so bad of smoke, like someone was currently in there puffing away. You could even smell it from down the hall. 2nd room was the same way. Finally, the third room was manageable. 

There was a thermostat on the wall so we turned the fan on to circulate the air, though the a/c portion didn’t work. 

It was so hot in the room that it was hard to sleep. 

The room was a nice size and the bathroom was nice. There was even a little balcony that overlooked the bar and park which created a nice ambiance. 

Walls were paper thin so we could hear others, but people were quiet pretty early, no not a big issue. 

Decent visit for the price 

Stayed overnight with my wife this hostal is on a kind of private road that leads up to the old Monasterio now a fabulous Parador.  The small rooms are adequately furnished and very clean.  

There is a TV and free wifi and a cafe on the ground floor.  Ideal for a short stay and the secure basement parking is a definite advantage.  English nether spoken or understood but the friendly staff made up for that.  There is a small Pizzeria cafe nearby providing very good snacks and meals.
