Not great for families, 
We have been to a lot of all inclusive hotels over the past 5 years and you come to expect a few items 
One mini disco!! I’ve been here 9 nights now, and they have changed the time and location of the mini disco every day, they now have a very poor one at the pool bar at 5pm??? Sometimes it’s not even in this hotel it’s the sister one? 
My girls adore the 8pm mini disco but this has really disappointed them. 
Entertainment doesn’t come on til 9:15? Which is usually just the staff dancing and miming to a show? (Don’t get me wrong they do it well, certainly better than I could!)
Dinners and food have been the worst I’ve had for a while no specific food for kids unless you count chips chips and chips whilst I’m on that they make you have dinner (assuming because we have children) between 6-7pm then there’s nothing to do til 9:15pm???

Pools are heated though so that was a bonus.
The rooms bathroom situation is laughable first there is Luke warm water and second there is a shower screen in the way of getting to the bath tap and the bath only fills up by the shower lol!! 

Staff are all friendly though and our room
Was cleaned everyday.

If you want a good family holiday go somewhere else.

Not good for families

We visited during February half term. It’s not the first time we have been as we came in December 2021. We had a fantastic holiday both times. The food was very good but not as good as at Christmas time. The entertainment team were amazing, the shows and the team members were so engaging and really good fun! A fabulous holiday again we would definitely come back, we love you Tania!! ❤️😘😘😘xxx

Excellent holiday

Fantastic holiday to Gran Canaria, 7 nights and 3rd visit to Dunas which did not disappoint. Great accommodation and atmosphere for a family within young kids, ours our 11 & 6 and we came with friends with children 8 & 6. The engagement and energy from the whole entertainment team was brilliant, super skilled in many ways and we thoroughly enjoyed their shows, massive thanks to Tania only been there 4 weeks and made us all feel welcome, adults and children alike! 

Family fun

We have been coming to Dunas Suites & Villas three times over the last 10 years. 
It is a great option for families as the villa style accommodation works well (we have had both 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom villas/suites), 1 bedroom was fine when we had a toddler but with two kids the extra bedroom really makes it easier without the need for making the bed in the lounge.
This year the entertainment team were amazing (they always have been but this year they were the best), we cannot fault their enthusiasm, professionalism and overall friendliness. Tania in particular was so engaging with our children and adults too! We hope to go back for a fourth visit. Bravo Dunas!

Super holiday,

We had a super holiday, very friendly staff always helpful. accommodation super clean. Within walking distance of beach and the dunes and promenade of Meloneras. Bus stop for trips at 500 metres

Super Holiday

Problems with AC, after reporting it three times we've gotten the room next door and someone new was put in the old room without fixing the AC. Felt quite unfair for the new guest...
Also a lot of noise from the main pool, daily hard dance music... Also in de evening a lot of music from the restaurant (hard music until 22.30-23.00 PM).

Have to say that rooms and facilities are really clean and neat. Most of the staff is really friendly. 

Poor AC, Not fit for a couple

In order to enjoy this resort one needs to manage their expectations. By no means this is a 4* resort. Pretty decent 3* though.
Pros:
1. Spacious clean rooms
2. Decent breakfasts and dinners
3. Xmas Gala dinner was outstanding. Quality, variety and volume of food was  amazing.
4. Good location with 15 min walk to the beach and promenade, botanical garden next door
5. Heated pools
Cons:
1. No porter service! we have two small children and arrived with loads of luggage, kids stuff, stroller etc. When we asked for help with luggage the receptionist just pointed at the lift. So after long travel we also had to drag kids, luggage etc ourselves to our room. Not great... Towards end of our stay we noticed there are limited numbers of 'shopping trolleys' outside reception that can be used to move luggage to/from rooms. Would be nice if the reception staff mentioned these to us.
2. Plumbing in the room - safety hazard. First, the room smelled of sewage. Secondly, shower is safety hazard. We were forced to have contrasting showers daily. Water temperature is either cold or VERY hot and alternate on its own. One of our kids got burned on the first night.
3. Kids mini club located in the sister hotel. Kids playground again at the sister hotel. On-site super market at the sister hotel. Definitely a theme...
4. Cocktails at the pool bar are watered down. Same applies to 'fresh' juices at breakfast. Multifruit 'fresh' juice was blended tinned fruit cocktail. Very weird! Would not even try pool snack bar with flies and wasps floating in fruit salad and yoghurt
5. During Xmas dinner we were very rudely asked to leave our table to make space for the next sitting. Prior instructions and a simple polite reminder would have been much nicer. Saying that we sat for dinner at 6.30pm and were asked to leave at 7.30pm while the next sitting was not due until 8pm

We will not return.

Solid 3* resort

Great for family holidays with children. 
Would definitely recommend. 
Some families we met had returned 3rd or 4th time and that’s no surprise…

Polite, kind and hardworking staff- whether at reception, bar, cleaners, animation/entertainment team, lifeguards by the pool, literally everyone.. A-Z! 
Lovely kids mini disco to entertain little kids.  
High quality evening shows.
Warm pools for every age. 
On an average good quality food and plenty of choices in restaurant and pool bar (fully worth ‘all inclusive’ board) 
All villas and suits on ground floor and lifts and ramp present so wheelchair friendly.

Special mention to Christmas celebrations!…

Santa visit on a bike!
Christmas presents-age appropriate-for ALL the children who participated (for free ofcourse) 
Free popcorn hot dog and drinks etc for those waiting in the long queue. 

Highlight- Stunning Christmas dinner preparations! (Pics included) 

Another highlight-evening Grinchmas show- superb performances! One would perhaps normally pay atleast £50 per person to watch that quality show! 

Suggestions- 
?Dunita teddy gift fir all kids visiting and interested? 

?mosquito repellants in every room! (My arm was double the size with mosquito bite as I am also allergic to them…it was itchy and uncomfortable for about good 24 hours!) 

?Bump up room cleanliness (not at par on arrival but all good after double cleaning). Unpolished marble perhaps gives more dirty look I guess (Shower was good jet, nice and warm :) 

Memorable Christmas away from home! Spectacular Christmas dinner and show!! 

5th/6th visit in 10yrs, first return since COVID and definitely gone downhill, especially the food and drinks, which were previously good/very good.

If you like to eat for pleasure, rather than just sustenance, you’ll likely be underwhelmed.

Otherwise, we found only one of the pools heated to a comfortable temperature and even that inconsistently.

More broken/potholed/missing paving than previously - odd for such a “family-friendly” hotel. 

Good location though and the rooms are ok, and the frontline staff are generally lovely. Management less so. 

Director on site actually called us liars, when we expressed concerns about food hygiene and quality, until confronted with the photos I’ve attached. 

Our last visit - shame - as our kids have memories here. First time they were 3, now they’re 13 (twins). Hey ho.

Gone downhill

Upon arrival we were welcomed by very attentive reception staff. We were allocated our room, a villa which we had paid more for. After walking for around 20 minutes with our suit cases we found said villa, right in the far corner of the resort. When we opened the doors I was upset to see that it didn't at all look like the room I was expecting. The surroundings were very lovely, though. Also, my husband, although not disabled, has arthritic knees and the long walk to the reception and restaurant and bar was going to be a problem. So, I asked at the reception for a different room. The lady was very kind and understanding and offered us a suite, not a villa very close to everything, but not so close to be noisy. We were happy. They transferred all the amenities from the villa to our new room too.
The food was amazing, if anything there was too much choice. The waitresses were just fantastic. Very efficient, kind and friendly.
We returned to our room after breakfast on Xmas day yo find a little box of chocolates on our bed, it was such a nice touch.
The meal on Xmas day evening was superb. The only real complaint was that a guy quite rudely reminded us that there was a second sitting and we needed to be out of our places by 8pm. This was only 7.45 and we did know what the rules were, we'd been reminded very politely a few times beforehand.
All in all, we would certainly return. We hired cycles, which my husband can manage without much pain, and saw a lot of the surrounding area.
I have to thank the cleaners and thewaiting staff in particular, they do an amazing job. They are a credit to the hotel.
Would have been 5 stars if the room had been right from the start and the guy hadn't been a bit rude on Xmas day at dinner.
