The hosts were very nice and explained everything to my daughter and son-in-law while I occupied the little ones with a park they had, which was very nice with a little house, swings and slide and a jumping trampoline in the complex beside the pool where you could keep an eye on them, it looked very safe.  They had plenty to play with and keep them occupied.  Pool a nice size.  No lifeguards as far as I saw on duty.  The complex was nice with a lot of greenery and some plants were marked with their name of what they were.  Our little house, apartment was on a high floor and we walked plenty of stairs with luggage that was hard! Once we got to the house the first floor were two bedrooms and two shower rooms, then more stairs and there was a little kitchen, living room and dining room and another  bedroom.  Bedrooms all had a large queen size beds, a small wardrobe and little beside table.  The wardrobes have a few hangers.  From the second floor outside the living room there was a small patio with facilities for barbecue which we used all the time we were there.  You have to bring your own stuff, food and coal etc.  Then there is another flight of stairs and you have a terrace with beautiful views.  
The kitchen has cutlery, plates, cups etc and some saucepans also and other utensils you might need.  They also provide you with drying cloth etc.  They have a kettle and coffee maker and a microwave and also an oven and fire. Also a big fridge. No dishwasher available.
Big large TV in the dining room/lounge.  You had great views from all the windows.
The bedroom I chose was on the ground floor with an ensuite shower room/toilet.  The shower was built on the floor, it had not shower floor and the walls.  You basically had to go through the shower to get to the toilet on the other side.  I think they made the best at the little space they had.  I used my pool shoes to shower as the floor was a bit rough to my taste.
The only thing I complained of was the dampness on the ceiling and I was told by the owner that it was because the shower had no windows and the moisture had nowhere to go.  Also one of the drawers in the wardrobe was broken which I forgot to tell the owners.  I am sure they would have repaired it.  They were nice people.
The house itself was very clean.  All facilities were very clean.
There was an onsite restaurant called The Casita.  I think it opened for lunch and dinner but you had to book.    We just went once to try it out as it was just in our doorstep.  The food was good and the service quick but unfortunately they do not take credit/debit cards.  We do not carry that much cash around normally we use the credit cards so we just had enough for our meal.  We would have wanted some desserts but unfortunately we did not have enough cash.  We only found out about this when we opened the actual menu.  We did not know before.

Long weekend of relaxation

Wonderful, peaceful and quiet place to relax with family. The hosts are so kind with guests, recommending places around and making sure the experience is great. Houses and common zones are clean, and beautiful views from the pool. Visiting the Cueva de la Pileta is a must.

Wonderful and relaxing experience

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a hiking trip. Very cosy place ( MUST have dinner at the La Casita restaurant), great views, fruit trees all around, well equipped units. Spoke with the charming couple that now ran the place - lovely people, very helpful. 100% recommend this as a base to explore the region.

Lovely stay at Casitas de la Sierra

We have visited the Casitas on three occasions now. It is a beautiful location and an excellent place to escape with a young family for a few days. 

The Casitas are located on the edge of the village of Montejaque. There are a number of tapas bars and eateries along with a very welcoming village population. 

There have been different managers / owners on each occasion we have stayed at the property. The most recent - Brigitte and Pedro are very welcoming and are clearly investing in the property and spending time to care for the garden which consists of numerous fruit trees and herbs.

Having a car is important as you do need to travel to get to most of the local attractions.

Beautiful little houses of the mountains

We stayed at this beautiful friendly place for 3 days and it was the highlight of our holiday. Brigette was a wonderful host making us feel really welcome. The pool and playground were perfect to keep our little toddler occupied and the attached restaurant’s food was exceptional. Probably the most stunning view across the mountains of any hotel I’ve stayed in. Accommodation was a quaint little cottage, small and simple but very comfortable and with anything we could possibly need. Highly recommend and perfect for those with young families

Absolutely perfect family stay with toddler

It was my fourth time in Casitas and the best so far. Everything is well organised and very clean. Perfect stay. The owners are a very lovely couple. Loved it all. Can't wait to come back.

Absolutely amazing

We stayed for three nights at Casitas de la Sierra, and we had the pleasure of being the first guests of the new owners. As owners of other properties, they're already making improvements---the garden had a major overhaul on the first night we were there! We felt that we could ask for anything and we would be helped immediately. Their concern for the well-being of their guests is foremost!

We chose Casitas initially for the location and the fact that they would accept five people. It can be challenging to find a single hotel room in Spain that will have beds for five, so that alone makes Casitas unique. 

The self-catering nature of the Casitas is nice for families with young children. Less than five minutes' walk from town, we could buy what we needed for lunch (and with small-town Spain prices, and entire lunch cost less than USD 12 for our family of five).  

Our kids loved the pool. The location is absolutely marvelous, picturesque and very conveniently located in the charming town of Montejaque. If you're looking for a relaxing, family-friendly place in one of the beautiful White Villages, you won't be likely to find a better place!

New owners as of June 2018

We stayed in the Casitas for a week in May, there were 6 adults and 2 babies in our group.Montejaque is an amazing little place, with steep winding streets and some charming bars, restaurants and grocery stores. We are pleased we got to stay in this area, a good base for Ronda and surrounding towns. 

The casita (we had the three bedroom one) generally suited out group. Two bedrooms downstairs, and one up. However it would have been nice to have a outdoor space to relax in. The smaller casitas have a little grassy area out in front. Ours did have a rooftop terrace, but the stairs to get up were a bit rickety, and the old patio furniture wasn't too appealing to sit on. It also gets quite warm up there, so a small roof would be beneficial to get out of the sun. The property had two bathrooms, one which was an ensuite. 

The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, a big fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, dishes, pots and pans...  However we did get takeout from the restaurant attached to the casita which was great!

A few things to note.
-Depending on what casita you are in, there are stairs to climb. Ours had many, which took us a while to get all the luggage and food up on day 1.
-The casita could use some new towels and bedding. 
-One selling point for us was the pool, but were quite disappointed with it. No cover at night meant it got quite dirty with bugs, leaves, lemons and dirt. We did see someone cleaning out the large debris, but the water wasn't too appealing to go in, esp with babies.
-The staff was very helpful in making sure we had the baby items we needed (cots, high chairs, bath).  

However, all in all, we are pleased with our week at the Casitas.

A week in real Spain

This accommodation was booked for us as part of a walking holiday. There's little choice in Montejaque but this was ideal for a two night stay. The apartment was spacious with a nicely fitted bathroom and comfortable bed but the sofa was rather saggy and needed replacing/refurbishing.  It's a very nice unspoilt village with good hiking in the surrounding hills. We can recommend a lovely circular (strenuous) route to/from Benaojuan.  Would recommend Las Casitas and return if in the area.
