I have to admit that if I hadn’t booked in advance I don’t think that on seeing the entrance – part of a now closed museum – I would have gone in as this and the grounds could do with some loving care . So glad I did though.

A fascinating host – not the place here to explain why but talk to him, you will be humbled and impressed – lovely staff and a very warm welcome.

Food, for both breakfast and main evening meal is basic but fresh, home cooked and plentiful – as was the wine!

Again, rooms are basic but clean and with clean, fresh linen.

The grounds, like the entrance need a makeover but for a comfortable, authentic overnight stay in a place with great atmosphere I’d definitely recommend it.

A fascinating place to stay, great welcome, comfortable, good local food and wine -  sorted!

We had booked a weekend in the wonderful town of Ponferrada and this place was an excellent base to discover the area.  The service was excellent,  the bedroom spacious and cosy.  
The food they serve is authentic for the region and portions are massive. 
I loved our stay here.  We got all the information we needed and more from the owner in the morning which was really sweet. 

Really lovely stay

Stayed only for one night as padding thru, thought odd when i got there to pay up front before even seeing the room. Was hot when arrived but found pool half full of green stuff also outside was very scruffy and in midfle of an industrial estate. My room was small and hime to the smallest bath on the planet, also wifi was very off on. And i am6,2 and tbe bed wasnt , my feet stuck out the end a good 8 inchrs Eveni meal was cheap althogh no menu it was just this is what your having. Breakfast was ok tho with toast and coffee.
