Hosts are very kind, however this felt more like an airbnb where owners are there with you. View is nice when outside. The location is fair and on older side of town, away from bridge and main center and a significant walk to get to the nice restaurant (with the gorgeous views). Finding this place was very difficult and parking was poor. Extremely small rooms with no special amenities. Ran out of hot water after 5 minutes. Have to carry luggage up steep incline and stairs and then back down to lower levels again to bring them to ur room. Place has been totally redone so it appears to of lost most of the monasteries charm. Higher priced for what you get. Breakfast was minimal. I recommend you eat elsewhere, overlooking the amazing views. I loved Ronda and plan to return, however will not want to stay at this place again.

What a wonderful boutique hotel. We had two sensational nights in this incredible  place. Our host, John, could not have been more welcoming, even giving us a whistle stop tour of Ronda in the car after picking us up from the train station.  

The recommendations for restaurants and walks were also much appreciated! The hotel itself is wonderful, beautifully appointed, with spotlessly clean rooms and a swimming pool with an incredible view.  The location is perfect - very close to the centre of town, yet tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Tranquil and perfect. 

The complimentary breakfast and soft drinks were a classy touch. 

If we are ever back in Ronda, we will be sure to return.

The Stuff of Dreams

Ronda is an incredibly busy town however it’s easy to forget the hustle and bustle if you’re staying at this very special hideaway hotel. With gorgeous gardens, excellent breakfasts and top quality service Carol and John have created an oasis for rest and relaxation in their beautifully restored monastery building. 

Our stay was enhanced by John’s excellent restaurant recommendations which had us eating in fabulous out of the way restaurants only the locals know, and love. John and Carol are generous hosts, freely giving their time and suggestions to ensure your stay is a top notch experience. 

All in all, the perfect place to stay in Ronda. 

A little piece of heaven 

We will remember this stay at Monasterio Del Carmen for the rest of our days and for good reason. Everything was fabulous, starting with the kindness of our guests John and Carrol. They took good care to make us feel welcome by explaining their wonderful facilities. Then they told us about the restaurants and made great recommendations that we followed one evening on the two we stayed at. The landscape and the site is paradise. The place is carefully laid out and maintained and the rooms, just like the site, are of exemplary cleanliness and tranquility.

We spent 6 nights here as part of our 3 stop tour of Andalucia. What an amazing find offering peace and tranquility but only minutes away from fantastic restaurants and all the sights of beautiful Ronda. But for us John the owner was the star of the show. Nothing was too much trouble and his recommendations for dinners were spot on. He showed us restaurants we'd never have found ourselves and the food was brilliant at every one. When we mentioned we were going to spend a day driving round the hills he planned our day out for us giving us a map of the surrounding area and telling us best place to stop for lunch etc. The property itself is beautiful and has been converted to a very high standard.

Beautiful oasis of calm

This beautifully converted church is to a very high standard. The views from the patio at breakfast, sunrise were so amazing, it makes you want to get up so you can savour it. The hosts John and Carole were fantastic, attention to detail makes all the difference. Personal service was second to none, recommendations were spot on for food, sight seeing, walks and John’s charm, calm manner, knowledge and sense of humour made our stay very memorable. So close to the old town and the new town, the bridge, bullring, restaurants and shops. 

Brilliant find

Wonderful stay with beautiful views across the hills from the wonderful infinity swimming pool.  A very private place with just four rooms.  Breakfast is served on the terrace next to the pool when the weather is warm.  The hosts are very well informed about places to see, both locally and farther afield and nothing is too much trouble.  Everything in spotlessly clean. A wonderful place to destress in the peaceful surroundings.

We came to spend two nights and ended up staying for three.The place is lovely in the historic center of Ronda.John & Carol make you feel at home and help you with everything they can.We will definitely be back.

Remanso de Paz is the name of a peaceful settlement.

We spent 2 nights in Ronda as part of a wider trip around Andalucia taking in Granada and Malaga.
After a day sightseeing it was so refreshing to cool off in the infinity pool and the hotel itself is an oasis of calm away from the hustle of the Puente Nuevo which is a short walk away. The views of the mountains from the terrace and the pool are fantastic and you are given a complimentary breakfast as part of the booking which we hadn't expected but was excellent. The hosts were very friendly and informative and John picked us up from the railway station on arrival and dropped us back to the bus station when we left. I would definitely return if we travelled through Ronda again.

Great stop in Ronda

“Sorry about the view,” says British owner John Small, in perfect irony, as he shows me my room. In fact, I had a stellar view of the ramparts and countryside from my room's window, from my private patio, from the pool, and from the whole gigantic terrace. The rooms are small but tricked out in such a way that everything is handy and you have everything you need. If you don’t, John and Carol will see that you get it. Carol got me almond milk (I’m vegan) for my muesli. John made sure I had dinner reservations every night (and made sure they knew I'm vegan). John provided pickup/dropoff at the train station. Another plus: Breakfast comes with excellent french-press coffee—so good!
