Situated on the main road through Tabernas, the Hostal El Puente is a great location for visiting the local Western cowboy towns and film locations. The hotel, room and bar were very clean, comfortable beds, plenty of hot water and excellent wi-fi. The staff were very friendly and helpful, some spoke English which was a bonus in a typically Spanish town. The bar downstairs was an added bonus, tostada for breakfast, the tapas and menu del noche were very good and reasonable – we ate here for the 3 nights and both enjoyed a different meal each night. Unfortunately for us the only thing that let it down was the 24hrs of rain, but that isn’t the hotels fault, however as a result we’ll have to go back to Tabernas and we certainly know where we’ll be staying

Excellent Hotel in a good location

In the area whilst our house in Lucainena is being renovated and needed somewhere to stay for a couple of nights. We had previously visited the bar and had good tapas so decided to give it a try.We had room 5 with twin beds. The room and bathroom were extremely clean and tidy. The shower over the bath was hot and powerful. The staff were extremely welcoming. We ate each night in the bar and both the tapas and the meal of the day were very good. There  are staff who speak very good english which made life easier for us ( our spanish is still very poor )The room was simply furnished but had everything we needed. Air conditioning and WiFi included.
Wednesday is market day in Tabernas and is worth a wonder around - fruit/ veg stalls  and clothing.
For 40 euros a night we were very happy with our stay.

2 night stay

We were in Tabernas to hike in the area where the spaghetti westerns were filmed.  We hiked one day and then went to Hostal el Puente for one night.  We had read other reviews that said it was difficult to find.  So, we went into town with this in mind.  How silly we felt the next morning when we realized it is actually on the main street of Tabernas!  The hotel includes a nice small bar where they serve very nice wines by the glass, great tapas, and they also have menu del día and dinner menus.  The food was good, not fancy, but all home made.  The owner and staff were great!  One of them spoke English.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.  We would go back there in a heart beat!

Our stay at Hostal el Puente

This small family run hotel is really a perfect place to sleep while on your travels. Its in the center of the village, but you need not go far as the best thing here is the food and service in this unassuming bar restaurant.
The rooms are functional and clean. The price is more than reasonable and the food is great! Home cooked and totally authentic. Warm and friendly service. We would stay here again!

An excelent place to break your journey.

Found this on a booking site.Turned into a lovely surprise.I was in the area to see the geological features and visit the Circuito de Almeria.The Family run Hostal is most welcoming and English is spoken.The rooms are large and airy and very clean.
The restaurant /cafe is excellent with the best Tapas in town.
I was there over New Year and was made to feel welcome both in the Hostal and in the town.
I have now stayed on 4 occasions.The only draw back is that parking can be difficult like so many small Spanish towns.

Great place to stay

We felt this hotel offered excellent value for money.  There were minor shortcomings but then we didn't expect five star quality or services for the price.

The staff were very friendly and efficient.  One of the bar staff spoke excellent English which in my experience is unusual in this part of Spain.  (And, yes, I do feel guilty having only a few words of Spanish myself.)

The food was excellent and such good value.  We particularly liked the potato speciality and the meat skewers.

The bar had two large screen TVs where we were able to watch the US GP which was an unexpected bonus.

We had freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast.

Our room had two single beds.  They were much wider than normal - 108cm (42 in).  The room was a little cramped with nowhere to unpack a suitcase.  We had no chair or desk in the room.  We had room 104 which from the escape plan looked to be the smallest room.  It was immediately above the front door and the alley way where one can dine outside so there was a lot of noise late at night.  This wasn't a problem for us but it could be for children or anyone who retires early.  We couldn't find any channels at all on the TV.  There was obviously a technical issue.  We didn't report it as we weren't bothered about it.  The bathroom was large and included an actual bath tub with a shower over it.  The water pressure was excellent and the hot water was hot - not always the case in hotels in this area.  We were provided with sachets of bath gel and shampoo but, curiously, no soap.

I wasn't sure how to get to the hotel car park and as the roads are very narrow decided to play safe and park in the street just a short walk up the hill from the hotel.  NB Google maps shows the hotel in the wrong place.  It does actually front onto Av Andalucia.  Switch on street view and you will see the hotel on the right as you head up Av Andalucia.  There is a public car park by the information kiosk on the right as you enter the town.  It takes about 7 mins to walk to the hotel from here.

The bar is very popular with the locals.  We saw many local people dropping by for breakfast and lunch.

Curiously the lift had numbers up to 9 but the hotel has only two floors.

If you are visiting Oasys or Fort Bravo this hotel makes an excellent base and is much much cheaper than the cabins at Fort Bravo.
