Spent a week staying in one of the four habitations in this lovely old building.  Our hosts, Federico and his lovely wife Chiara, could not have been more helpful or welcoming.  Far away from the flesh pots but with a small, simple tapas bar 10/15 minutes walk away and several very pleasant restaurants within a few minutes drive.  Very well placed for exploring the island and very close to the national park of  Timanfaya.

Charming & Peaceful Winter Escape

El Jallo was the perfect place to stay in Lanzarote. In a very quiet area, you can take your time to enjoy the views and the silence, but at the same time be close to all the places you want to explore. The house is beautiful, very nice design pieces and you can see that the owners put a lot of love into the details. They also have a big environmental and social concern, which I believe is so important for a small island like Lanzarote, that can be taken over by massive tourism. I personally loved all the little corners around the house, and the view to the ocean and the volcanoes all around you. Breakfast is delicious, with local products, a wonderful way to meet other guests and hear the stories and recommendations of Federico, that is a great host! I will definitely stay there again if I go back to Lanzarote.

Perfect place to stay in Lanzarote

Charming and chic staying in this wondrous place where every tiny detail counts. Very quiet and peaceful location perfect to connect with wherever place of Lanzarote. Breakfast is excellent, specially when little Valentina comes to join! Magnifique! 

Ch&ch

We arrived late our first night and asked if a light meal could be prepared. No Prob! Table for two was prepared with Candlelight and a "Chilled Bottle of Malvasia Secco Vulcanico".  Very warm welcome as was the rest of our stay at El Jallo. Lanzarote is an enchanting place and El Jallo fits right in with its artistic flare and very warm appeal. Federico was very helpful with suggestions and getting you off the beaten path to get a better feel of the local culture and environment. The morning breakfast was carefully prepared with something local and different every morning. The last two nights in the upstairs Suite was fabulous with overwhelming views and total relax  to top off our 9 day stay. TOP! El Jallo is a 10 and a must in Lanzarote.

"Very Special Place"...Very "Super" Federico

The room is beautiful and spacious; its two balconies were perfect to enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon and a cup of coffee in the morning. The bathroom was our biggest surprise (really!)7, as it has a large window with a view on the Malpais, landscapes typical to the island, as well as the ocean in the background; no words can do it justice!

Everything in the hotel is of good taste. The lounge area is decorated with paintings from local and not-so local artists, it is also filled with books. 

Note that you will be sharing breakfast with other guests, we were reluctant at first, but the host knows how to put everyone at ease.

This charming hotel comes highly recommended, and definitely the place to stay for a couple or anyone really. 


We stayed in the suite for two nights.  

We had a one night stay at El Jallo which was very comfortable. Federico was very welcoming and hospitable.  Neither Federico nor I had remembered to contact each other about our arrival time but it wasn’t an issue as he was working in his bunker in the garden.  Our room was upgraded from the room booked as we were the only guests on the night we stayed so had the house to ourselves.  El Jallo is a very nice rustic property in a very rural location, just what we wanted and what we expected.
Nice clean room with a very comfortable bed, great supply of hot water with great shower pressure, good Wifi, Bluetooth speaker for your iPod or similar.  Another nice touch was being able to make a brew of tea or coffee at our leisure using the facilities in the dining room.
I had read the comments and seen images re breakfast, what we were served certainly met our expectations and needs.
Federico and his wife have plans to increase the size from 4 to 10 rooms which I don’t think will detract from El Jallo’s charm, however in the meantime the immediate areas outside of the house could do with a little TLC / A2D.
We will return when we want a night or two away on Lanzarote from our property on Fuerteventura.

A Nice Relaxing Night Away in a Rural Location

El Jallo is located in the middle of the island and the view and location are ideal. You can get anywhere easily, it's quiet and the views from the rooms is stunning.
Frederico knows the island well and his recommendations of places to visit were excellent.  We were greeted with a bottle of local wine, highly recommended, we bought a couple of bottles to take home.

However, the website and other reviews promised things that we just didn't see. Breakfast was particularly disappointing - organic vegetables, we got delicious tomatoes, no more. There was a huge selection of salami, but 3/6 people at breakfast didn't eat meat - didn't the woman clearing see that the plates were untouched? A previous reviewer complained about the eggs - what eggs? We didn't see any. There was a small bowl of cheese, one of yoghurt, a couple of sliced bananas, a bit of other fruit and rye bread. There were no juices, just coffee (and maybe tea). This is the first place I have ever stayed in where I came away from breakfast hungry!
Our room was small but comfortable. The main problem was that we had to walk through the public area to get to our bathroom. Simply knocking through the wall would make the bathroom en suite - it's in the plans we were told. As I said, a place with potential.
