We spent 7 nights at Villa Palina in May 2019 and had an amazing stay. 
The villa was immaculate and had just been refurbished (with more changes to come apparently). The owner lives very close so anything we needed was not too much trouble.
The local Spa was only a 5 minute walk and the beach was a 10 minute walk. Only a 10 minute drive from the airport so no long transfers to worry about. 
There was no aircon but we didnt need it anyway in May even though the weather was great, they left us with a few fans but we didn't need them. The owner said aircon will be fitted at the end of 2019 along with other changes such as new beds (that would be a bonus as they were a bit firm) and furniture plus more. 
Super fast internet which was handy as I still needed to do some work whilst away.
We plan to stay in the summer of 2020 for 2 weeks as we could not fault our stay at Villa Palina.

Amazing villa, location and owner!

My sister myself and mother in law have recently stayed at casa palina. It is traditional in style and spotlessly clean .We found the owner to be very pleasant and approachable should you need anything .Very close to all amenities. We would certainly visit again had a fab week and weather great.

Great place 7 of us went including kids could not fault it clean everything you need and not to far walk to shops the beach etc.. Pool cleaners came when we were there and maids came a couple of time like i said really nice place and would recommend and stay there again many thanks.. 

Top villa 

Lovely villa, a bit dated but the outside area and pool were lovely.  Excellent location to shops and Puerto Del Carmen.  Booked with James villas and booked transfers, arrived early and were able to leave luggage which was an added bonus.  All in all what we expected and would not hesitate to book again.  

Good villa 

Our stay here was blighted by problems with the water supply which were only rectified late on the 5th night of our 7 night stay when a faulty pump was eventually replaced. We accept that this was an unfortunate event but think it took too long to call in a professional. The maintenance company representative (who we believe to be the villa owner) on their numerous visits prior to the plumber had suggested the issue was connected with our over-use of water. We don’t accept this and that is borne out by the need to replace the pump which solved the problem.

The water supply issue notwithstanding, we were disappointed with the miserly way in which the villa is operated. The pool was too cold to use throughout our stay and there was no way to adjust the temperature. When we mentioned this to the maintenance man he said it was because we were leaving the cover off for too long. We only took the cover off when we thought we might use it. When we complained to the travel company representative they asked the maintenance man to measure the temperature and it was 23°C which is far too cold. The maintenance man apparently did something to increase the temperature but to no noticeable affect and we didn't use the pool.

Most of the outdoor lighting was on a timer which we couldn’t find to adjust and the lights would not come on until shortly after 7pm. Unfortunately it is dark by 6pm in Lanzarote in early January and this falls right around about the time we wanted to congregate outdoors to barbecue and eat. We had to jury rig extension leads and lamps from inside the villa (contrary to the directions on one of the many unfriendly notices in the villa telling you what not to do).

Finally, there was only 1 set of keys for a party of 8. Again we complained to the maintenance man and he said it was because previous occupants had lost the other sets. Well so what? We paid almost £4,000 for our week's stay and 1 set of keys between 8 of us was not enough, particularly when you need a key to open the gate which automatically locks when closed.

On the positive side the villa is well located in a quiet spot in Puerto Del Carmen but still less than 10 minutes' walk from Avenida De Las Playas. Inside it is spacious and clean with 4 large bedrooms sharing 2 bathrooms, a reasonably well-equipped kitchen and a large living/dining area with a table for 6. Outside, the garden is nicely maintained, the smallish pool is at least clean if not heated and there is a table tennis table by the barbecue which we used mostly as a dining table for our large party.

Overall we enjoyed our holiday in spite of the villa and not because of it. We would not book it again.
