The hostal is very centrally located right on the Plaza Mayor of Trujillo, overlooking the imposing statue of Francisco Pizarro. The room was very basic, air-conditioned, clean and comfortable but a bit noisy from the restaurant downstairs.

OK for a quick stay

We stopped there for lunch on March 18, 2016 and has a superb pollo asado. Excellent service, very reasonable prices and a very attractive ambiente. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the fascinating, historic town of Trujillo.

Lunch

My husband and I spent several nights here in October, using Trujillo as a base for exploring Caceres, Merida, and  Guadalupe.  We absolutely LOVED Trujillo!  Although the town is full of historic attractions, we found ourselves just wandering the quiet streets and admiring the atmosphere of its gorgeous hilltop setting.
 
The Hostal Nuria suited us perfectly!  The view from our room (#204) and from the neighbouring room (#205) is spectacular!  If you look at the hostal's website you can see the floor plan, and you'll realize that you shouldn't leave the choice of rooms to chance.
  
We arrived by car, not knowing exactly where we would park.  I simply told the GPS to take us to the Plaza Mayor, and when it seemed that the road was ridiculously narrow, and a parking spot appeared, we parked and went exploring.  As it turned out we were just about 200' from the plaza, so that's where we left the car each day.  Cars do seem to park in the plaza each morning when children are dropped off at school, and tour buses park there, but we were never clear on the rules.  The street parking where we were was free.
 
We checked in very casually at the ground floor's bar, where no one spoke much English (don't expect much English anywhere in Trujillo).  There is a bar/cafe on the ground floor, and a restaurant on the second floor. We had breakfast each day in the bar, as well as a small dinner - they had quite nice salads, in addition to all the usual Spanish dishes.  Each morning intoxicating smells would drift down from the second floor kitchen with its pretty dining room, and we were hopeful that we'd have a great dinner there.  But each evening the door was locked, and no one was around.  Because our Spanish wasn't up to asking, we could only guess that maybe they were cooking lunch for the groups of elderly Spanish tourists who arrived in the tour buses?

The room itself was fairly small, with French doors onto a tiny balcony overlooking the square.  We were able to sit at the open doors admiring the view, while snacking on the fantastic local cheese and salami, because there was a small fridge in the room.

Internet was sketchy, but who cares, with that beautiful view?
 
Three months later we are still talking about the wonderful time we spent here; we'd go back in a flash!

Wonderful base for exploring Extremadura

What a cordial welcome we got! We got a large apartment with a little balcony and a well appointed kitchen. There is space for 4, at a very friendly price. The apartment is calm, but only a few steps away from the main plaza in this lovely romantic town. It could be the base for nature visits ad bird watching, but also for exploring the cultural and culinary offers of the region. The owner himself will help you with parking, and can give a lot of advice for activities. Don't miss the delicatessen shops in town! If possible, we will return to this friendly hotel.

Wonderful stay for small oney

We have just completed a four day tour through Extramadura.  We stayed in two other hotels on this trip which were both more impressive than this one.  However, we loved the Nuria Hostal for a number of reasons.  The cafe/bar downstairs is warm, bustling and friendly and the staff were really kind to us.  The view from our window was fabulous, straight across the old square to the statue of Pizarro on his horse, the palaces and the castle.
