This was our first Ayurveda experience and we will for sure do it again.
I spent two weeks at Amba with my mom and we had an amazing stay. 
The rooms facing the ocean as well as the garden villa (we moved because I booked too late and there was no room free for two weeks).
The food, the treatments, the beach are perfect.

Perfect Ayurveda holiday

Dr. Chamari Palika is an excellent Ayurvedic doctor, the staff is very very friendly and the hotel ist stylish and clean. The food is excellent. The size of the facility is small and through that you get in contact with other guests - i travelled alone and met very nice people. I can highly recommend the hotel!

perfect stay

The hotel has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Very nice rooms with A/C, fan etc. The beach is so empty, it is almost a private beach.
Sometimes the room smelled a bit - until we covered all the drains.
A massive new Dusit Thani hotel is being built at the moment which didn't interrupt our stay - but will change the beach considerably in the future.
The hotel is right on the main road - I never heard the traffic in our room though - only the noise of the waves.
A new iron is needed with ironing board. Available old dirty iron, no ironing board. 
The massage and treatment staff and the kitchen staff were super nice and tried to make up for the inefficiencies of the doctor and the manager. 

The "new" manager was not suited to this hotel - organising trips seemed like a con. We ended up walking onto the road and got TukTuks ourselves - much cheaper! 
The doctor was a big disappointment as well.

The food was really good - we needed to get used to the small portions though - it helped with loosing 4.5kg though. 
The fish every 4th day or so - surprised me, but you could always choose vegetarian.

Nice pool - the Austrian guests seemed to "book" the sun lounges with their towels from early morning. The manager could not care less. We just went to the beach instead.
The treatment rooms were really nice.
New scales would be appreciated - if you pay this amount of money and you want to loose weight - you would expect to get a decent scales.

The Yoga was for everyone - therefore a little soft for my taste.
The acupuncture was a bit odd - as it was done by the pool or in the doctors office. When the doctor was grumpy it hurt!
The massages etc were great.
The doctor. It started with taking our pulse and then guessing what our problems were. Yes, she got something right after the 6 guesses. She seems to guess the same things with every guest until she guesses something right.  Then she prescribed a specific diet without telling us what the different pills are and what they do. No guidance and explanations whatsoever. Then she booked us (couple) in at different times of the day - so we could not spend time together.
She also was very disorganised and got bookings wrong all the time. She was overweight and asked everyone if they want to loose weight - she was not a good example of health in a health retreat!

We would stay at Amba again if Mosvold employ a new manager and new "real" doctor who value their customers .

Don't expect answers from emails sent to the hotel!

Nice Hotel - Ayurveda treatment disappointing

Thanks a lot for all that care, the wonderful treatments and the magnificient cuisine.
The Manager Mr. Jayasiri, his assistant and all the staff anticipate our every wishes.
Dr.Chamari's therapy, the acupuncture and the combination of treatments were individual and helpful.
Her EMDR therapy is recommendable.
Morning Joga with Mr. Asantha was sensationel.
And my therapists, Chandima and Asantha are world beating.
I will miss them.

Relax pur

I came here with three of my friends for 3 nights and four days.
We were really pleased with everything in Amba. The food in particular was a highlight for us and we loved how the waiters explained each meal in detail for us when it was brought out. 
If you’re someone who is happy to sunbathe in the sun, read a book or just relax between the meals and treatments, Amba will suit you perfectly. We enjoyed the yoga/meditation in the morning, a lovely way to start the day. I think I would have loved the option of a second yoga class at some point during the way. 
Our room was very spacious and faced out towards the beach which we were delighted with. 
Every staff member we dealt with was so welcoming and accommodating. The treatments I received were amazing, particularly the synchronised massage. The massages were really gentle and relaxing, which is the style of massage I like. 

Overall, even though we only spent 3 nights there, I returned home feeling so refreshed and positive.
Thank you so much to all the fabulous staff there in Amba. I loved how there were only 10 rooms in the hotel as it made the experience more intimate and the service was second to none!
