Couldn’t have a chance to arrange a lunch for 16 people 4 days before even when the hotel isn’t even booked yet then. Asked about the menu and the receptionist said me many times that he and she would call. But didn’t. Asked about the menu and they said no buffet on that day so I decided to ask for set menu availability and mini buffet arrangements but what happened was they always agreed to send me menu via social media but they didn’t. Don’t know whether they did it on purpose. So how on earth can I recommend this hotel as a person to another person. Me and my family both do a valued jobs as savings lives which gives us very less time to have a vacation. But this kind of stuff in the beginning of that is kinda takes us in a way that are we the only people who cares about others….
Thank you so much for not giving us time to come to Anuradhapura at least.

Excellent service for all staff and excellent room. food lovely too. This was my second visit and better than 1st one. Really appreciate about candle light dinner and the service. Highly recommend.       

Excellence at its bedt

This was our third stay at this hotel, which was my absolutely favourite on two past visits to Sri Lanka but is now sadly more building site than hotel.  The foyer area looks wonderful (think ruined temple) and the deluxe room was still charming, but there are very few amenities now that make for a relaxing stay.  The lovely old open-air restaurant has been demolished and replaced with a small enclosed room (albeit air-conditioned), and there is so much construction going on that the pool water is full of concrete dust and is quite opaque - no swimming for us this time!   Because there are so few guests, the food selection was very restricted; we were told dinner was at 8 but we waited until 9.30 before food arrived, which was adequate but cold.  Unfortunately we cut our two-night stay short and moved on.  Hopefully the rebuild will finish soon, and the hotel will return to its former glory!

If you are prepared for something beautiful, if a little different, you will love Palm Garden Village. Stunning large pool in garden temple / garden settling resembling scenes from The Jungle Book! Almost slightly eerie at night but incredible. Allow a little time for everything and ask politely for what you need and the smiling friendly staff will do their very best to provide it. Kavindu from Reception ensured our room was exceptionally clean and functional on arrival (not his fault the monkeys constantly brake the TV aerials!) and helped with our first night’s dinner order. His English was brilliant and he was extremely efficient throughout. 
Although it took a while, the more Western style food was cooked to a very good standard and the Sri Lankan curries (not on the menu) that my husband and I ordered were made especially for us and were exceptional. The buffet on the second night was also very tasty and fresh (and we went for it late). Breakfast was cooked from a menu one day and buffet another. Not a huge variety but perfectly adequate and additional requests were made fresh and brought especially by the very lovely waiting staff who all smiled and were very polite. They couldn’t have tried to be more helpful and were instructed by the very capable and professional, I assume head waitress, Rani. The chef, Kavinda was very adaptable and talented. 

There were renovations going on but you hardly noticed within the Old Temple Theme of this stunning property. One man with a hammer occasionally, was hardly noticeable in the grounds of this huge place! There were insects around, but you are in the jungle and I didn’t see a mosquito!! 
Perhaps more variety of drinks available would have been nice, and better air con in the gym, but we fell in love with this rustic place and it’s super friendly genuine staff. They even found us a local massage! The pool, restaurant and rooms were definitely clean. 

Not quite sure why other reviews are so negative- just give the staff a chance.

Palm Garden Springs, excellent place to stay with the family

This Hotel is a miserable place. We stayed here for 1 night and it was the worst hotel we ever stayed at.  We found it in the room; no TV, no PABX, AC not working, bathrooms are filthy as ever, very old fittings, insufficient amenities, the furniture looks very dirty. The breakfast was very poor quality (only Sri Lankan). The next day we had to purchase a Coffee Powder, Sugar and Milk Powder from a nearby shop to the hotel as the hotel said they don’t have enough stocks in the Hotel. The bathrooms are in very poor quality

The hotel felt like a building site, the first impression was great, but behind the façade everything was not great. The rooms were unclean, and some had bugs, spiders, and cockroaches, not pleasant, not every room was this bad.

There is a bar, but it’s just in the dining room and they only have beer, coke or water.

Would suggest they spend the money on the rooms to upgrade the bathrooms before they spend any more on the restoration of the site. Avoid going to this Hotel.

This hotel should be closed till they finish their construction.it was a very unpleasant stay and we were very disappointed.



Worse to Terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!

This Hotel is a miserable place. We stayed here for two nights during New Year's Holidays.
We found in the room; no TV, no PABX, AC not working, bathrooms are filthy as ever, very old fittings, insufficient amenities, the furniture looks very tiered, the staff all trainees, and the F&B stewardess looked like grandmas (overage).
The breakfast was very poor quality (only Sri Lankan) there were a couple of boiled eggs on the buffet and we requested a few omelettes to be served to the table, but the grandma's hostess turned down point blank. Later we saw they are serving omelettes at our next table who was a popular Astrologist in SL Manjula Peiris, probably a VIP for them.
Terrible discrimination...
The next day we had to purchase a Banana from outside the Hotel as they said no Banana in the Hotel.
The only positive point is Mr Salinda who is an undergraduate from Rajarata Uni doing intern here. He is a very hospitable youth trying to please everyone in this Hotel. We found a couple of other guests who also are very unhappy about this hotel. 
We don't recommend this Hotel to anyone who plans to visit Anuradhapura. The property appears as a hunting palace, with no mood at all for leisure.      

"Terrible Hotel"

Hotel felt like a building site, first impression was great, but behind the facade everything was not great. The rooms were unclean and some had bugs spiders and cockroaches, not pleasent, not every room was this bad. The staff were untrained, and didn't speak english, so difficult trying to explain any problems to them, management were not really present.

Food was okay but not great if you are vegetarian, potato's , rice and pasta, but most did enjoy it and it was fresh, the chef did try his best.

this hotel is under construction.inadequate staff.the staff that is there is untrained.they bring food but no cutlery.food tasteless.they take a long time to bring the food.and once it comes it s cold and tasteless.the reception area is also under construction and has a bad smell like bats.dinning area also under construction.pool looks very unhygienic as constuction is going on.warer has a strange color.seems to be mixed with cement. food is terrible. not seasoned.this hotel should be closed till they finish their construction.it was a very unpleasant stay as no pool and terrible food. we were very disappointed.

avoid this hotel

This Hotel is under construction. Avoid going to this Hotel. We couldnt even use the pool as it was dirty with Cement dust (Please see pics). The food was hopeless and tasteless. They Hotel is severe under staff and they are not able to provide basic needs of the guests. Poor hygiene due to construction activity. It will take atleast one year to finish construction which they are doing.

Fortunately for my family and I we only had to endure this ghastly and dismal place for one night. The grounds and bungalows were delightful and if the service and restaurant wasn't so pathetically inadequate it could be a great hotel.

That's it for the "pro's"...

We were staying here as part of a tour of the island through an agent. We were on a breakfast only meal plan which was not a problem for all the other hotels on our trip as we just went to the restaurant and ordered a la carte. 
However, due to a lack of communication from our guide we were not informed that a wedding was to be taking place that day and therefore there would be no a la carte option. They did agree, however, to offer us and the dozen or so other guests not connected with the wedding an option to have something from the buffet at a limited choice, obviously.

To cut an extremely long story short (we watched the untrained staff bumble around incompetently for two hours bringing incorrect orders, stale wine, dirty cutlery and crockery, and cold food to the other tables). I went to investigate as the food was not coming from the kitchen but a small service area near the dining room. To my absolute HORROR I witnessed the waiting staff scraping leftovers from the wedding guests plates and plating it up as "fresh" for us!!!

TOTALLY AND UTTERLY SHAMEFUL BEHAVIOUR!!! This was unforgivable and extremely upsetting for all of us, particularly in light of the pandemic. 
I cannot advise you strongly enough to take heed of the vast number of critical reviews on this place and AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! 

The owner did eventually drag himself away from fawning over the wealthy wedding guests to attend to my request to be treated as a human being. He did get a chef to cook us a fresh complimentary meal with drinks at literally the eleventh hour, to be honest, it was so late and we were still so jet lagged we had no choice but to accept the offer.
I am taking issue with the tour operator concerned as had this behaviour been in the UK, then it could lead to civil proceedings through the courts.

I do not appreciate being deceived by these charlatans, please don't let it happen to you!
