We booked 6 double rooms on B&B and it was a great choice. The rooms though a bit worn out had all the amenities and was clean. The bathrooms especially was clean and good. The ambience of the hotel pool side and court yard was really relaxing and very good for the nice group pics we took. The service was great, The breakfast was very nice with both SL and western options. All in all quite a good find.

Great Value for Money

Four of us stayed here in January 2024.  THe rooms were comfortable and well equipped.  The large quite modern building included a spacious swimming pool and a large garden randomly assembled.  So far so 4*.  My rating for the catering is far lower.  The breakfast offering was just not very good at all, lacking in variety and with no helping staff in attendance.  The restaurant area you had to go through to reach the rooms, it felt very public as though included as an afterthought.  Disappointing, given how excellent Srilankan hotel breakfasts often are.  A very small bar area is there with a couple of sofas on which to relax.  THe hotel is located some way away from the Sacred City, so a vehicle is required, but that's not a major problem.

A useful base from which to visit this intriguing ancient city.

We have ordered Alms Giving buffet from Alamkandawa Hotel for our katina pinkama where as they provided soups, main course, apetizers, and desserts as per our choice. (We also added fruits and some other items) I reaaly appreciate their keeness to provide the very best service. They came to check the location the day before and had a nice discussion with us to make sure everything happnes perfectly fine. I really am greatful for that committment, coz by handing over the almsgiving to them, bcoz of the previous arrangements and discussions we had, I felt really peaceful in mind, bcoz the day before the alms giving, we have decided everything including how the flow of event would happen, how the tables would be arranged, how the desserts would be arranged etc.

We wanted to provide delicious alms giving, with luxurious food and design, the very best way, I think Alakamndawa team provided one of the very best services and very best buffet. Especial thanks to CEO of hotel and Mr, Manjula and Chef Sampath and the team who came.Thank you very much for the committment and service. Wonderful job! 


Excellent Outdoor Buffet provided for Almsgiving Event!

Lovely views from room and nice infinity pool. 
Rooms were okay but bathroom was mostly and no way to ventilate. Food was okay but was buffet for breakfast and dinner which was very similar to every place on sti lanka. 
Staff were very friendly.

This hotel is tucked away from the huddle and bussle of Anuradhapura city. The grounds are well maintained and clean equipped with clean swimming pool.
Rm 28A and 29A was upstairs so you ask for ground floor room is mobility is an issue.
The rooms are spacious and clean with ammenities similar to other hotels. However bathroom in 28A smelt like swerage which my kids didn’t complain about because we were just staying overnight. Yep there were cockroaches and a lizard in room so let the fantastic staff know if that’s an issue.
Breakfast was mediocre. Continental breakfast was old and chewy so we just had traditional food which was really tasty and yes fresh. Coffee sachets kept running out so just ask. The juice was made with tap water as alluded by staff so as a tourist refrain from drinking juices.
Staff worked hard which was obvious and they all had great personalities. But overall similar 3 star hotel had better systems and processes.

An okay visit good for a nights stay


The hotel is along the road far from shops, bars and restaurants, if you haven’t a car you’re bound there. It is a little outdated and would need maintenance but the room was large and comfortable and the bathroom had a large shower. I needed to ask for towels but they arrived. On the contrary towels for the swimming pool are not available. There is complimentary tea/coffee/water. No safe, no hair dryer. The food is definitely mediocre. One night was a buffet and another a set menu with some options none of which very appealing. The waiters can’t speak English and they keep on coming to take away your dish. I wanted to try a beer but they only had one liter bottles, too much for me. Breakfast too is not special, canned juice, poor choice of fruit and cereals, no yogurt, no eggs to eat with your bacon and sausage (only hard boiled eggs).
There is a 10m swimming pool, ideal for children and not too bad for a few strokes. Wifi is good and they accept credit cards.

Average hotel

It was one the greatest stays I've ever stayed. Hotel staff was also done a good service (specially the restaurant manager). And the hotel environment is very calm and attractive. Their meals are very clean and delicious. So therefore, I can recommend this as a good place to spend your vacation.

A great stay with a great pleasure

We've stayed here two nights on our tound trip across Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura offers many things to see. We've enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the garden and pool offers a nice rest on a busy trip, breakfast sind dinners came with large buffets for every taste. The crew welcomed us friendly and took best care of us (the amenities like getting a hair dryer or to be seated in the garden during dinner....).
Definetely recommended!

Nice experience

Very bad experience.waste of money and time. I had to book thus place only because the dates we were able was not available at Heritage Hotel,Anuradhapura.
Disgusting.
Never recommand to any one else.Multiple issues.
1.staff was not welcoming. Though it says srilankan people are so welcoming, this staff badly need to learn how to smile and welcome tge guests.
2 .wash rooms are not clean though in tge google it shows this is a 3 star hotel. Drains are clogged and bad smell, which is not acceptable from a HOTEL.
3. Staff is not accountable for any issue.
My vehicle was blocked by a tourist bus, i asked more than 5 times the secuirity officers, front desk at last the restaurant manager to ask the driver of the tourist bus to allow us to get my vehicle. There is no hotel manager| resident manager at the vicinity.
Finally the front desk person cintacted us to the driver and driver told We have to wait till he finishes his meals.

The driver was not eating but was chatting with other people. Though he had more than enough time to fix the things he and the staff both purposely showed their poor attitudes.
The driver verble abused my wife and tried to physicay abuse my self.,but whole the hotel.staff was watching theincident with out taking any action.
The management better visit the places functioning AS HOTELS, instead of managing places like this.
Am very dissapointed.
Firstever incidence I came across like this throuout my stays at both srilankan and foeringn hotels.
These poor fellows are not much caring about the loc tourists.
Even being a Srilankan,am not recomminding this place to both foreigners and locals.

No guest safelty at all.

Worst experience! Worst staff!unethical and most unprofessional hotel staff ever  came across. No accountability on client’s safety.
My vehicle was blocked by a tourist bus. For more than half an hour I asked the security Officer, Front desk even the restaurant manager (who were the only person who was aware about his duties). Non of them were taking any action. The front fest person was showing his poor attitude by keep drinking his cup of tea instead of taking the needed action.( Evidence is there in CCTV footage). 
Finally we had to personally talked to the driver of the tourist bus and he verbally abused me and tried to physically abuse my husband.
Not recommended either foreigner or a local tourist.
We had to book this place, because the Heritage Anuradhapura was fully booked on the dates we were able to come.
