Superb location only moments to the main surfing point. Great swimming right in front. Delicious food and tasty meals with great service. Nice spacious property with a lovely lounge area. Very central location with easy access to all the main places. AC worked well and rooms have a balcony area as well.

Comfortable with all mod-cons and good location on the beach

You won't find a better location than Rupa's Beach Hotel, overlooking Arugam Bay and ideally located in front of the gentle surf spot, Baby Point, which is ideal for beginner surfers and a fun wave for long boarders, and a 5 minute walk to Main surf point. The en-suite rooms are clean and bright, with a large and incredibly comfortable bed. All rooms offer full or partial sea views. Surf board hire is available on site with a great selection of boards to suit all riders, with knowledgeable staff to assist you in your choice. The on-site restaurant offers, hands down, the best rice & curry in Arugam Bay and the live music nights are great for a relaxed evening with good vibes. The bar offers a good happy hour too! Most noteworthy is the service, be it for the hotel, restaurant, bar or surf shop, the staff are all lovely and willing to help in any way they can. 
I highly recommend a stay at Rupa's Hotel.

Beautiful spot with panoramic views of the bay

Rupas is a quiet and beautiful place to relax and work. The rooms are clean and bright, with large windows. There's also fantastic balcony views of the sea and the green garden. 

I was so happy that the Main spot is very close, Baby spot is directly opposite. And the owners have a board rental service. 

There is an European-style restaurant. The best rice and Curry buffet I've had for six months, and a delicious burrito with real cheese, etc 😋

Lovely place 😍

I visited Rupas in July and August 2020 regularly either for surfboard hire or evening dining. I also stayed a couple of nights in the hotel and I had a great experience every single time without exception. The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious and the surfboards are good quality and well-maintained. The restaurant has comfortable seating and it's super close to the beach. You should definitely check out their tasty curry buffet nights: the live music or adorable Dachshund will surely entertain you ;)

Comfortable rooms, delicious food & great surfboards!

Hired a near new torq brand surfboard from here for 3 days. They have a big range of new boards, and the young lad there was full of helpful advice for where and when to surf, conditions, transport options, even how much to pay for wax. They are a very handy location, and the restaurant does a good dinner and breakfast too.

Best surfboard hire in Arugam Bay

A lovely find. First night we went food was so yummy and beautiful presentation. Second night the food wasn’t as good and took a long time as they were a little distracted by unwelcome visitors... but staff are super friendly. Very comfortable seats & so close to the beach.

We had a very good time in Rupas and we are thankful that we found that place!
It all began with the search for a nice place for Breakfast. The atmosphere was adorable due to the great location in front of the beach. The Muesli and Sandwiches were so tasty and the Iced Coffee was even better! 
When you're there, make sure you check out the best Surfshop in town and meet Sudu!
He will definitely make your stay in Arugam Bay to a better experience.

Really Enjoying this Place

Had a wonderful week stay at Rupas! Great food, best staff in Arugam bay and affordable prices. Location is fantastic right at the 🏝 , it’s a staple of the area even if you don’t stay drop in for the rice and curry and an ice cold 🦁 during happy hour.   FYI like most great seasonal spots it’s potentially closed off season. 

Fantastic surf week and stay at Rupas

I stayed here for 5 nights everyone that works here is very friendly and accommodating. If you ask for anything they will make it happen (laundry, food, parking, if you want to watch the news everything) they are always there to greet you and all the guys that work here have a great sense of humor. The location is right off the main surf spot and they have a surf board rental place on the premises with good quality boards (other rental places in the area do not have good quality boards) plus the guy that works there is super chill and nice and is an actual surfer so he knows his stuff. The location of the hotel is  off the main strip so it’s quiet and there are adorable dogs that live here (Lion and Chocolate aka Choco a small wiener dog) who protect the property from monkeys and other crazy dogs that roam around. The restaurant has good food especially the prawn curry and this place serves beer (not served everywhere). The only critical comment I have is that the rooms are really basic so don’t expect super high quality but hey I’ve stayed in worse. The price for this place? 20-30 USD a night which I think is a good deal. I would highly recommend.
